Lovely setting. Great food and coffee.

Absolutely amazing! The staff are all so friendly and the grounds are fantastic. We had a great time for a day trip and would be back in a heart beat! The kakariki and pigs were a highlight as well as the gentle kayaking in the sun drenched bay. Amazing!

This place is one of the most relaxing, beautiful places I have been to. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the views were epic and the food was delicious. Honestly we didn't want to leave and go home 💔 Lots of activities to do for all ages, our room was tidy with everything we needed. We 100% recommend Lochmara Lodge to stay for either a day visit or longer stay and we will be back many, many times 🤩

Educational, family friendly, eco focused and super relaxing — not to mention sensational foood! This place truely has it all! … even managed to sneak away for a romantic hour with the husband in the bath house! Can’t recommend lochmara enough, whether it’s for a day trip or a few nights… I just love this place — I bet you will too!

They have the best staff Always nice do pretty much anything for ya there is always something to do from the pigs to the eels and feeding the birds was awesome that path though that is amazing best way to relax it was just amazing I want to go back.

Great service right from the second you arrive until the moment you depart. Lovely setting. Delicious food — we had the tasting platter. Lots to see and do. The pigs and kakariki were a real highlight. Plus the hammocks of course!

Only went for the day but what an unforgettable experience. Will definitely go back for a weekend.

Fabulous location for a short break, lots for the kids to do and plenty of relaxing spots for the adults. A great cafe with great food and a kid friendly kids menu. Quiet and relaxing at night, limited Wi-Fi and no TV so plenty of quality family time with devices interrupting.

We loved every moment of our stay! Dolphins, seals, farm animals, glow worms, reef project, the bioluminescent beach at night, kayaks and paddle boards, so much to enjoy and explore! Staff so lovely our kids wanted to take them home with us. Already planning our next trip. Thank you for having us!

Best highlight definitely had to be the glow in the water when you skimmed a stone along the water and lit up. Also the set up and staff are amazing and the owners awesome experience.

Overall, our visit to Lochmara lodge was underwhelming. The on site restaurant was overpriced and the coffee was regrettable. The "beach" was a small, pebbly waterfront covered in jellyfish. We did enjoy the tour to see the various animals and interact with the sea life, but this is probably not something I would consider repeating in the future.

Beautiful place. Nice friendly staff. Warm fires on a cold day. Cool on a hot day. Just great! Boat access or Queen Charlotte track access.

I am a solo traveler and stayed in a twin room for five nights. The room was immaculate and thoroughly serviced daily. Housekeeping promptly accommodated my request for a different blend of tea in the room and made sure I knew how to use the more than adequate heating as I am from a tropical environment. The grounds are well kept and there are plenty of interesting things to do, from the incredible underwater reef observatory to feeding the various animals. Also in abundance …are educational placards featuring flora and fauna. Dining is by way of the onsite restaurant / cafe and good food is available throughout the day. For the first time in what seems like eons, I actually enjoyed a steak cooked exactly to my liking! The water taxi to and from the lodge was fast and comfortable and the staff could not have been more helpful. Thanks to everyone at unique Lochmara. I will be back, soon!

Wow cannot recommend this place enough, we loved taking our family for the day and did so much! Dolphins were interacting with us on the boat out there, we fed the eels, kunekune pigs and chickens. Visited the glass bottom boat reef project, fed the stingray. Spent time at the touch tank holding star fish etc. Played on the beach, kayaked in the sheltered bay had a lovely lunch and more. The team are fab and so knowledgeable thanks especially to siobhan who took us around we will be back!

What a nice resort to work with! I was coming in on a cruise ship and thought we wouldn't make it to the boat on time, and they were very reassuring and even offered a later boat. The boat ride there was beautiful, although a little noxious with the fumes accumulating in the seating area during any slowing or stopped points. You have the option to sit inside with the door closed, however. Once we got there, we had about an hour and a half before our conservation tour of the land would start. We got some coffee from the cafe which was extremely bitter. Then we went down to the beach area to swim. We were surprised to find jellyfish everywhere! But after asking registration about them, they were only harmless moon jellyfish. We were safe to swim, but the beach was really one to just lay back and swim at. It was small, right off the restaurant, and not exactly the Sandy Beach we thought we were coming to. They did offer kayaks, but all of the two person ones were taken when we got there (we had small children). Hammock land was beautiful! About a dozen hammocks swinging right by the water. The conservation tour was a very well done experience. My kids couldn't stop talking about the underwater observatory and the pigs. I was under the impression that feeding the birds was included, but that was not the case. They then took us back to the pier, which was only a 6 or 7 minute walk from the iSite.

Really enjoyed it here: we went on the nature trail around the area which was good value, enjoyed the food, and loved the service. Highly recommended! Family friendly but great for any age and configuration.

This is just an excellent place in the middle of paradise! Lovely short walks and connection to the queen Charlotte track. It is just a slice of paradise to explore: by foot or the free kajaks. Bonus: they have a talking parrot.

Perhaps more of an attraction to do with kids or as a family. I went on my own (20 year old male) and although I had a good time, I kind of ran out of things to do after about an hour and a half… Would have been better if I had a companion but that's my own bad planning rather than the place itself. With the right people, would be great!

Before we travelled out we checked whether our dog would be welcome. The amenities listed 'pet friendly'. On arrival by boat our dog was rejected. 'No dogs allowed'. Left dog and husband on boat in sweltering heat. Took my daughter's to get lunch, only to walk past a dog asleep on the steps. Suggestion would be to clearly state on all information sites about Lochmara Lodge, 'No Dogs allowed'.

Beautiful setting! We took a sailboat there! We did not stay for the evening, but just had a nice coffee inside. The artwork was local and was very good.

Great day out if you have kids or have 5 hours to kill before getting on the Interislander. 20 mins water taxi across the Marlborough Sounds to the bay. Lots of short walks. Feeding pigs, fish eels, stingray (truly), kakariki. Kayaking and swimming. Food a bit pricey but tasty. Cracking day out.

My most favourite place to go to in the Marlborough sounds. Beautiful x.
