Nice motel room, clean & tidy. But felt overpriced compared to some other motels we had stayed at. Sorry, but couch in living room really was uncomfortable, needs to be put out to pasture. (end unit closest to the road! )

So many good feels about this place. I didn’t get to meet Alison but Harley has been nothing less than absolutely stellar. He offered to pick me up from the bus stop. Made me feel incredibly at home upon arrival. My next day was heading to Methven during Cyclone Gita and he tried to arrange a ride for me. That fell through but no big deal. Offered to take me to a good spot to hitch if that’s what it came to. The room was super nice. Clean. Cozy. Nice big sliding glass door, couple of patio chairs out front which would have been amazing if the weather was nice. Mini fridge microwave some plates bowls and flatware. Super nice place. Free guest laundry. Wi-Fi wasn’t free but it was fast and reliable. Location isn’t all that great but there’s really not a lot of accommodation near the center of town. Would be totally fine with a car or bike but on foot it’s a bit far. Would stay here again without hesitation. About as welcome as I’ve felt since I got to NZ a month ago. Super super nice people!

Our stay at Academy Lodge was brilliant. The hosts are wonderful, and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable. Our room (#2) was very recently renovated and impeccably clean. The site is convenient but not noisy or cramped, and accommodated our family very nicely. We cannot recommend this place enough and are definitely looking for another excuse to stay.

Rooms very clean, beds very comfy, and very well priced, but it was the service that will ensure our return. We went to Ashburton for a family members funeral and we were warmly welcomed and accommodated in every way possible. Harley and Alison ensured that the spa was made available to us, accommodated for last minute additional people staying, provided us with umbrellas on the very wet day of the funeral, and allowed us a bit of extra time past checkout on the day of the funeral so we could change out of our wet clothes and warm up, and so my stepdad who has just has surgery could have a rest before leaving town. They went above and beyond, and given the nature of our visit we are grateful to them for making everything easier where possible.

Great location, good beds, clean and very tidy. Outdoor area with chairs and table with umbrella and bbq great. I will be back again and would highly reccomend this accomodation.

Nice Motel, handy to middle of Ashburton, well presented, hosts are friendly and always helpful, rooms are well presented and appointed, we have stayed multiple times, well recommended.

We've had a great summer with a lot of very nice people staying. We have enjoyed their company & look forward to meeting everyone over winter.

The owners (Harley) were just great. My friend and I toured NewZealand for two weeks and stayed in various accommodation, this place was easily the nicest and cleanest. I would highly recommend.
