Stayed at the hermitage for 2 nights. Was a great stay and though driving was needed to access the nearby eateries, had plenty of space and parking. Good quality toiletries as well. Will stay again if I head back to mount cook :)

It was nice view from the room. Must visit again in spring or summer time. And It was good service to provide free breakfast during renovation.

:: Love the scenic view and the nature! :: This is one of my most favorite hotels where I'll be back again if opportunity permits. This is the only hotel in Aoraki Mount Cook National Park. I stayed on the high floor where the view of Mt Cook is magnificent and breathtaking after I entered the room. There was a portable binoculars in the room where you can use it to view the mountain up close. The windows were huge and the atmosphere was very quiet so you could relax and be with the nature.

The whole place had limited amenities. No cafe. No bar. No dinning. No Ed Hillary centre for the kids to visit. They were all under construction. What was more disappointing was that they opened it up for some bus loads of tourists, but not for anyone else. We also had to go down to the pub down the road for meals as no in room dinning was available. Would just stay at the pub next time as they have rooms as well.

Amazing hotel when u visit Mt. Cook National Park. Spectacular location, view from room. Amenities and location. Great food and service too. And definitely visit the planetarium … you will want to stay here on your next visit. :) ) )

We stayed here recently (Family of 4 with 2 kids). Reception staff, hotel room, view from hotel room was just awesome. We should have stayed here for 2 nights. We just walked a bit to see night sky full of millions of stars. Disadvantages: There is no covered parking, you have to park your vehicle in open. Our car was kind of frozen in morning ha ha ha. Thanks to the reception guy who provided me an ice scrapper to clean windshields. Nearby is hooker valley trek. So beautiful.

Came by for the a la carte dinner at the Panorama Room. During my time here, the actual restaurant for Panorama Room was closed and instead was served at the cafe, along with the menus of their other restaurants. The food was good, but far from something to rave about. The lamb and salmon was well cooked. I didn't care too much for what accompanied the meats. The service here was incredibly slow, a 2 course dinner took over 1.5 hours, of which our table was empty for about an hour. It was also pretty pricey too — NZ$140 for 2 persons, I understand you pay premium for food when you're this remote, which is why we decided to try something nice, but it just wasn't worth it.

Hotels in Mt Cook Village are priced at a high price, usually with many vacant rooms released one months ago on the official website. Rooms have several different grades, and the rooms with mountain views are expensive. The rooms are simple but quiet and comfortable. The ground floor has two restaurants and a bar. One restaurant is a cafeteria, and one is a panoramic restaurant. All two restaurants have large glass curtains and beautiful mountain views. It is recommended to book a restaurant first. The hotel is about three kilometres from the beginning of the trail.

It's ridiculously beautiful, and if you book though a tour group not super expensive. Unless you want to buy dinner. But tonight I'm heading to the bar in the village instead of the fancy hotel buffet. But, amazing views and plenty of activities, who could ask for more?

Really nice place. Rooms were very clean. Refrigerator in the room. Balcony in the room we had with an incredible room but you have to request this view. If you have 3 people you cannot get the room for 2, they will not allow it so be aware. They were nice enough to give us a discount on the required upgrade for a 3 person room.

We stayed at the standard room with Mt cook view for one night. The first thing we saw in the morning was the beautiful Glacier on Mt Cook. We ate at the buffet for the dinner. The mussels were excellent. Dozens of mussels were destoried in my stomach. Having meals under such a stunning view is one of the best thing in my life. Everything I experienced in the hotel is worth the value.

Ate at the Alpine lodge for lunch. Buffet was $33/person. Sat lower center of the room. The view was perfect, the service was fast and attentive. The food was all good, especially the fried chicken. Great experience after a day of hiking.

Ate dinner, one night at the panorama room and one at the buffet. The salmon was outstanding, highly recommend. The sun-dried tomato bread was delicious as well — they serve two types of bread, would recommend that one. We also had the sides of greens and duck-fat potatoes, both were not bad but nothing amazing either. One member of our table had the deconstructed lasagna and was disappointed — seems either fish is a much better order. Overall, very good meals, and stunning views of the mountains!

This hotel is in a stunning location, with great views across to Mount Cook. It gets busy, with a lot of tourist groups, for obvious reasons, and the restaurants are always full, often requiring a booking to get a table. In the a la carte restaurant the service can be slow, (and the food is definitely only average) but it's less crowded than the buffet restaurant. The hotel provides a lot of guided tours and has many other facilities on site. Worth stopping here for the location and views alone. PS give the hotel cafe a miss, we had some amazing food in roadside cafes throughout NZ, this cafe ranks solidly at the bottom of the list for food taste and quality.

Dinner for 2 at the Panorma Room with beautiful views of Mount Cook. Service from the point of view of an American guest was the best we had in NZ. Most restaurants were hands off at the Panorama Room my water glass never emptied. Portion sizes were not large but I left satisfied with my meal. Medium rare lamb seemed to be cooked medium. Over a great experience.

This is a four-star hotel, we are staying in room 619, the view is higher can see Mountain, breakfast cost 30 dollars, the price of somewhat flat, very worthy of Oh!

The room are clean and comfortable bed. Amazing views from the room. The hotel has tour activities to Mount Cook and vicinity area. Just need to book in advance. Good place to rest and relax in this place. Pricey hotel rate although.

The rare snow-capped mountains at the foot of the modern hotel, steel structure 12 floors, outside the window is the cook snow.

Views were fantastic. Room extremely old and dated, was surprised at the quality considering how much we paid for a superior room. Water pressure was bad, amenities too basic. Food was okay, but not value for money at all. Oh, and expect to pay for Wi-Fi! The cheaper option Lodge is extremely close by and I reckon you wouldn't trade off too much in terms of comfort if you stay there instead. Views are almost the same from both accommodations Would recommend friends to skip staying at the hermitage, and take the trails for the views instead.

Views are spectacular, however this is obviously what you are paying for because the rooms are extremely average. Haven't had to pay for Wi-Fi in about 10 years but the hotel does have a surcharge! The walls were paper thin and you can hear people in the next room going to the toilet. Our room was clean but there were some dubious stains and dried fluids on the wall. I would say this place feels more like a motel than a hotel. Unfortunately this place will still do well as you don't have many options in the area. Hopefully the management will bring this dinosaur into the 21st century soon as other hotels in NZ are amazing for a similar price.

The views of the room facing the Mountain View are very exquisite, the service staff is very friendly, the quality of accommodation is general, even the network must be charged separately, a pity.
A paid breakfast can be discounted for a reservation, but it has to be booked first, but … It would be better to have breakfast at the café!
Recommend Kea Point This trail, very interesting, especially in the mountains when there is snow. The beginning of the October was the end of the snow.

Very remote hotel with fantastic scenery. Rooms were nice, and Wi-Fi was pretty fast. Reasons why it didn't get five stars: 1) There is no gym here. 2) Some of the stuff in the hotel is a little dated. Locks on the doors and shower heads come to mind. 3) The food was okay, but it wasn't fantastic. I would recommend this place to friends and family.

The buffet dinner is by far the worst I have ever eaten or experienced. There were 6 mains available which were all disgusting and poorly cooked. Not only was this the case but to top it off I had the waiter bring me the bill without me asking for it whilst I was still eating my food! Also please note that this buffet dinner cost $63 each! We had no choice but to come back the next morning for the buffet breakfast because this was the only place to eat breakfast at 8am! This was another horrible experience with the food being very poor in quality and the waiter asking me to pay the $30 before I started eating which I refused!

Amazing location in the heart of Mt Cook with fantastic views all around. Friendly and warm hotel staff who proved very helpful. The rooms were really nice, though the free Wi-Fi (which is priceless at this location) does not extend to the rooms. Food was expensive (unsurprising considering the remoteness) and whilst hotel staff are willing to give lifts to nearby establishments, the Chamois bar is to be avoided at all costs (literally and figuratively). The location is subject to weather conditions in winter and staff are understanding about this when dealing with your bookings. All in all, a fantastic location makes anything else pale in comparison. Strongly recommend a stay here!

Lovely views from your room. Very warm room. Nice bar with log fire. Winter special great deal. Lovely staff. Buffet dinner disappointing.

I went there for a quick meal, and they didn't have nothing available to eat, just a bunch of pies, and sausage rolls. Despite that, the staff was quite rude regardless we were the only ones having a meal at the restaurant. I mean we were paying for it, at least you should be gentle with your clients. Pretty sure I won't come back there.

This is at best a 3 star hotel. It does have too s with good views but it stops there. Food is average and service is also average. Rooms are of decent size but nothing luxurious.

It's a nice hotel. Good value for money. The buffet option for dinner was the best. Lots of good food.

It's a spectacular place and well laid out. We stayed in the standard rooms with a view. 3 things to take note. The radiators as I found out are loud. I got up at 1am after being driven mad with a noise, almost white noise effect, roaring in the walls. It was then in desperation I found out it was the towel rail radiator in the bathroom. Had a thermostat to turn it off. Got into bed and then the fridge was making a racket. So unplugged that. The last issue is the room door. It's like it's too small for the frame. So much light from the corridor shines through. * noisy radiators. * loud fridge. * too much light passes through the room door. We had the sit down meal as it was the cheaper option with wine to suit each menu piece $70 (tight for money after travelling around 3 weeks, the Hermitage is our last night). Don't expect a hearty, reasonable sized meal. Nice sized steak, 2 small carrots, bit of a celery stick, half a baby pickle onion, 1 half of a potatoe and the sauce poured around in a presented way. It was nice, but bit of joke compared to the rest of our New Zealand meals recently. Pudding was as expected for portions. That was also very nice. Breakfast was alright tho. Still a sized meal you'll expect. We had the full breakfast. Overall it's a brilliant place with just that issues above that's stopped me from rating anymore. Staff are very welcoming and helpful. Rooms are clean with your usual comforts in a hotel. Room no.

The room is relatively simple, the bed is one large and one small, open-plan hotel feel more insecure now!

Given the price I was expecting a slightly more impressive room. It is clean and tidy but a bit basic for the money. Service at reception was a little hit and miss. Some very helpful some not so.

Of course the best views you could ask for. Rooms reasonably spacious and comfortable. Bath with shower over with SHOWER CURTAIN (EEK). Large picture window for view with small opening vent so little fresh air. Air-conditioning. Buffet dinner seems expensive at 63 NZ$ but choice is huge and you can eat as much as you like.

Difficult to grade. The facilities are limited by its position just below Mt Cook. It is non-obtrusive and near to the walks and views and the rooms are of a high standard. However, most visitors only stay for one or two nights and a lot come in buses, meaning there is a constant flow of large groups of people moving in or out. If you can arrange good weather the views I mentioned are some of the best in the world, with the approach up the valley very photogenic.
