An incredibly warm welcome combined with a top notch room will make this a stay we won't forget! Huge and easy to use kitchen and a cosy lounge to top it off.

We had the chance of doing woofing in this great place. We shared with people of all around the world, excelent environment, beautiful views, very confortable and cozy place. 100% recomended. It is a nice hostel near Wellington right by the sea. The rooms are great and there are many rooms with sea views. If you only value a good overnight stay, the hostel is recommended. But the kitchen is filthy. Some cutting boards are heavily inattacked by mold. After we informed the staff, the boards were coarsely cleaned and re-sorted. I can't understand a decision like that. Therefore 3 star deduction. We did not use the kitchen afterwards.

Amazing value, we had a double room for 2 nights and cost us £25. Great place to shelter from the cyclone.

Definitely one of the best backpackers in New Zealand. Clean, nice lounge, great view of sea and mana island. Do Not miss the beautiful sunset on a fine day.

There was a sign asking to remove shoes but the place was pretty dirty. Also the bed was not very comfortable. However, the lodge is located just in front of the beach and the view is fantastic.

Very cosy backpackers out of the city in Wellington/Porirua. They call themselves a 5 star backpacker and deserve the title. Well stocked kitchen with everything you need and more, including free tea and coffee. Very clean and tidy, and the dining room and lounge are presented well. Nice views from the lounge and our room overlooking the bay. Owner is very helpful and happy to have a chat! 5 stars as a backpackers.

A hostel for simple requirements.

It dank is help but a guy told me of for staying outside the buildung Pipa.

Polite and helpful staff, clean room with a lovely view. Quiet and calm atmosphere. There's a kitchen with everything you could need and a comfy lounge.

Enjoyed our second stay. Good spot to sleep when catching an early Ferry.

Really lovely place that feels more like a house than a hostel. The owner is really friendly and the rooms are nice. A bit pricey but it's worth it if you have a car and don't want to park in Wellington.

Excellent! Danny really went out of his way to help us after we forgot a few important items at the lodge. Always friendly and hospitable. Prime location, fantastic view. Thanks you for a wonderful stay!

I slept 4 nights in this hostel. Very friendly team, and a very beautiful location! I regret the 200Mb tickets for internet. Ok it's free, but unpleasant to ask an other ticket every time. And the matress was ok, but a little bit old. I recommand this hostel!

Awesome view, clean & quiet but mis-advertised as a 5 star hotel. This is a backpackers and it should be made clear in the advertisements — misrepresentation is unethical, especially if you are making money off it.

It was perfect. We had a late arrival and everything was prepared. Lights on and bed heated up. Unfortunately only a one night stay. Def. Worth longer.

I was a little surprised to find out this was a backpackers. However, this gem of a place was enchanting. We were spoiled having a room overlooking the bay, but the establishment was so well managed and cared for that the complete visit was a delight. I loved the finishing touches such as the tiles above the hand basins echoing the view across the bay. The kitchen was spotless and had everything necessary to create first class meals should you wish. Thank you so much guys. Keep up the good work.

Was miss advertised as a motel lodge and it is a back packers type place decent place amazing view shared facility's.

Moana Lodge is easily in the top 3 places I've stayed yet. It's likely first on that short list too. The view from my room out over the shore is great and with it being the end of the off season they upgraded me to a private room. There was another discount on top of that that was substantial due to the walk I'm on. The facilities are clean and really good. Full kitchen, huge fridge and freezer. Good sized dinning area and a public lounge that is better than most of the flats I've lived in. John and Helen are easy to talk to and seem quite friendly. John also used to be a member of the local Alpine Club and knows a lot about the tramping in the area.
