Very old facilities but clean and tidy. Good value for money and great to see plenty of trees around, can be hard to find as it's around the back of the town.

Great site. Let down by poor small old shower blocks. Hot, but water does not drain. Cubicles too small, curtains no doors, no stool/chair, side panels not waterproof as wear over years has removed veneer. Top price, needs refurb. Pitch great and site otherwise fine.

A bit rough around the edges, but the managers are doing good things. Despite the huts being pretty shabby-looking from the outside, they are clean and comfortable. They are historic, having been the workers'huts from when the Tokaanu power station was built so, I was happy to take them as they were! I would visit and stay again!

Hated it! the cabin was pokie especially for 2 adults and a growing 16 yr old teenager it had 2 sets of bunks in it which didn't match at all and every time I went to get in or out of bed my hair would get ripped out from my roots from the springs from the top bunk 2 of us would have to sit down on the bunk so that at least one person could get up and walk out of the room it was absolutely hideous. And another thing the cabins need a lot of work at least the outside needs a lick of paint especially if they want to attract people back there again and the shared kitchen needs upgrading aswel. I went to cook my family some dinner and whoever used the kitchen last didn't even do there dishes or clean up everything about that holiday park is so outdated. But there is a couple of positives about that place and that's the showers are hot and have a very strong pressure which my family and I enjoyed especially after traveling so long and all you want to do is wash the traveling stickiness off you and the other positive was one of the ladies that works there she was so POLITE, HELPFUL and just plane PLEASANT to talk to it felt like I had known her for ages so for that Turangi Holiday park I give you a 3 and that's pushing it if it was for the showers and your lovely worker there I would have given you a 1.

Great Place to stay if you are on a tight budget. Close to all the sights and activities that the beautiful Taupo area has to offer. The owners and staff were beyond friendly and made us feel like family. 5 thumbs up.

Owners are really very kind hearted and always willing to help out highly recommend.

Basically a nice and quietly located campsite. Equipment in total. Operator is working on improvements and renewals.

You get what you pay for!
This has really been the cheapest accommodation on our trip. However, I like to spend a little extra money to have a comfortable place to sleep.
The mattresses are very well located and the whole is rather camping.
For backpackers certainly OK, for me it was not so ideal!

Pros: The cheapest private cabin we could find in town. Cons: You get what you pay for. The cabins and common rooms were incredibly run down and need some serious investment, even if they have to increase the prices slightly. To best honest, the tiny musty cabins all stacked so close together felt reminiscent of an old prison camp. The dining room next to the kitchen looks like a classroom abandoned in 1987 and a few people we encountered refused to even use the shower block. On the bright side customer service was friendly and the lounge has a brand new huge Sony flatscreen, but those were the only glimmer of light I could find sadly. Everything else needs freshening up, badly! We found a comparatively luxurious en-suite private cabin for $20 more on the opposite side of town… I recommend you do the same. Great holiday park — very helpful and freindly owners.

A stunning family run the place and made me feel at home straight away. Loved it.

Over all the camp is good it could use some cleaning up but I would go stay there again, the people managing the camp were nice and I would recommend it to people wanting to go skiing and don't have a place to stay.

Ok place for car camping nite manager Not very friendly had to report to day manager 21 a nite perfer to car camp at hostel won't go there again.

Great and friendly service we stayed at self contained unit accomodate 9 of us. The place is very clean and up to date. Will come again.

Pros: cheap and usually has vacancies. Good location for tongariro pick up Kitchen reasonably well equipped but dated. Seemed clean. Friendly staff Cons: cabin was very small and very dated, cold. Serious issues with men's wash facilities — no lights in showers, no doors/curtains on cubicles, only 1 working shower and others filled with rubble (naked torchlight shower for the brave). Women's were better but not great. Overall the place felt creepy and I wasn't sad to get up to leave at 5am. Overall: ok for 1 night as long as you know what to expect.

The family cabin was really nice. An older place but very comfortable and really enjoyed our stay. Shelia was also great not only being helpful and insightful but had a good sense of humour.

Cleanliness of the accommodations?

Great spot! We stayed 4 nights and 3 days and loved every minute of it. For the price you pay, the amenities reflect this, however they are very clean and tidy. Out hosts were very polite and welcoming and the kids loved the pet kunekune pig and chicken! Cleaning was done daily and so long as other guests clean up after themselves, which was the case most of the time, then there were no problems at all. My only recommendation would be to improve the children's play areas. Which were swings above large puddles in one area and a climbing area next too a busy access way in another. Although my kids were happy too just chase the pig and chicken, I'd feel happy in taking and leaving them at the play area if they we're safer. We'll be heading back though, as it was a great spot to base yourself from for the whole area. Thanks.
