We love you guys! Thanks for letting us bring the 3rd member of the family to your motel. It's absolutely the best place to stay if you have a dog. (also if you don't it's still fabulous). We appreciate it more than any words could say, plus it's right beside two mile bay sailing club, whom also allow dogs. We will be back just as soon as we can, as I love stepping directly out of my room into the beautiful waters of Lake Taupo for a swim. Thank you again. 5

What a pathetic experience, surely not recommended for people carrying kids with them…
lots of mosquitos and bugs in the room at night…

Had to call the police and make an official complaint against the rude and yelling manager/ reception person. Ridiculous services, very rude manager, dryers don't work, the pool doesn't work, bugs in the beds… it was a nightmare. Ended up leaving early and didn’t even get the discount that was promised because the manager said that he has “changed his mind now”.

Stayed at Caccades last weekend and had a lovely stay. The unit was very close to the lake with private outdoor seating and table. Private access to lake front. The Staff and Management couldn’t have been more welcoming and helpful. We had a family apartment for 4 of us and the room was clean, well appointed and beds were comfy. We had an issue with our mircrowave which wasn’t working and the Management went out of their way to reheat my food for us and then to replace the microwave with another. Much appreciated the way this small problem was put right with a kind and helpful manner. Thank you for a very pleasant stay and would highly recommend Cascades Motel for a stay in Taupo.

We loved this place. Plenty of space, good sized TV, spa bath, comfy bed, lovely private outside area with a barbecue, just a few steps to the lake and no crossing the road. But most of all the hosts Robin & Graeme are awesome people. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Nice spacious rooms. Right on the lake — great for bike riding along the lake front. Very friendly and helpful owners. Nice and quiet.

As a family of 5, we had a great family room with plenty of space for the kids. Lovely hot tub. And the kids enjoyed the outdoor pool too.
Bonus was Nice and quiet rooms.

Really enjoyed our stay here, we were allowed to bring our dogs with us which was amazing, easy 30sec walk to lake and super friendly hosts. Definitely will go back for a longer stay.

Cascades Motel is perfect for everyone, rooms are spacious, quite and good environment, walk to good lake side, me and my partner stayed one night, we enjoyed environment, warm pool, environment was very good, room was beautiful, clean and fresh, smarty decorated, lovely bedsheets. Roomy shower and toilet, kitchenware, fridge and breakfast bar. We enjoyed morning tea.
Really friendly, welcoming and helpful lady in reception. I would definitely recommend this motel.

Poor customer service and doesn’t honour the “pet friendly” motto. Have completely ruined my friends much loved getaway at the last minute.

Very cheap and affordable place. The rooms were very clean and comfy. Good for a family. Really beautiful location. And excellent customer service.

What an amazing place to stay.

Booked 2 family rooms for the whole whanau and we were very comfortable. Toasty warm when it was clearly not warm outside and the kids loved the heated pool and hot tub and so did the adults! It was great that we had a little outside area that we could go between the rooms and led directly onto the pool. All in all very much enjoyed our stay and the hostess was there when we needed any help. We had a little mix up on check in but that was mainly due to booking through an external agency :)

The room we had booked for was for 7 people 4 adults 2kids 1new born. Was meant to be the economy family room with hot tub and balcony ect.
Arrive at 4.30 and check in, don’t get taken to room just get told go out the door walk down there and you’ll find it. Open door to the room and it was an icebox with a shitty plug in heater that sounded like a tractor. The room didn’t heat up at all so went and asked for another heater which did not help. So aswel as being in an icebox with two kids and a new born the room didn’t have a hot tub as it was described it would. Had steep as fuck stairs that my kid fell down and smashed his head. Lady said we could have a refund if we weren’t happy so I went and found somewhere els to stay, went to get refund back within half hour of being there and the lady refused saying we have been living in the room for over two hours. Packed stuff then left. Discusted with how we were treated and how the situation was handle. Then had an argument with the receptionist whilst my kids were in the car only to get 75^% refund
We were nothing but polite and honest. Will not stay there in future or recommend it. Not to mention is very outdated.

Spent a weekend recently at Cascades. We so loved the ambiance and quietness with the lake just about on our doorstep. Very private courtyard with your own bbq. Comfortable new bed, good heating, very clean and views of lake from dining, lounge and bed. Big TV. Good to watch the ABs beat France. Bike hire and kayaking too. 10 min walk round lake to a great cafe. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this motel. Cherry.

Stay was just so awesome. Room was spacious and beautiful with all the facilities and amenities that one always look for during the stay. They have private spa bath tubs in room with separate shower area. Heated pools and spa for all guests also. They have private access to lake taupo. We will definitely come back and stay again in same property. At the end Hosts were just amazing people, very warm and welcoming. Free Unlimited Wi-Fi.

Not a real lake view and you have to pay for the dishes to be washed other than that very nice and clean apartments and very nice staff, which gave us great recommendations for dinner.

We had a great time at this motel. The accommodation was just what we needed for our three young children and in a great location. Swimming pool, bikes and trampoline are an added bonus.

Great, family-friendly motel with an awesome location — right on lakefront. Perfect for early morning walk round lake or picnics on the lakefront. Nice spacious clean rooms with good set up for our family of four. New cedar spa pool smelt good! I’d definitely go back.

Cascades were excellent to deal with right from booking a big family holiday over a year out to accommodating many of our needs. The location at the lake, with a pool, spa, trampoline and BBQ area are great for families with kids. There were portacots, highchairs and stair gates available for use. The owners were helpful and even lent us an HDML cable to watch the boxing over Easter. A fabulous place for our family get together and well recommended for families.

Clean and well supplied, friendly reception and very helpful, offering portage of our luggage. Assistance with trip to town for a meal most appreciated. Now we know the system would definitely recommend. 4 and a half stars.

Although we felt at first that a customer service issue was not addressed adequately which affected our experience, the owner has since emailed and sufficiently addressed the concerns. I think this was big of them. The room was clean and well presented.

If you have children and are heading to Taupo for a holiday, I seriously recommend booking into Cascades, this place is child friendly, pools, trampoline and then pop them in the spa for a bit at the end of the day so they then go to sleep and you can relax on the patio with a wine or two. Robyn is a lovely host, sorry I can't remember Robyn's husbands name, but they are delightful obliging people, very friendly and helpful. My son left his pillow in the room and Robyn rang me before I had left Taupo, so I was able to collect before leaving the area. You won't be disappointed by staying here. Can't wait to go back again.

Very comfortable accommodation. Had a studio suite. Loved the spa bath! Well equipped kitchen area. Great location. Direct access to lake and the 10kms of shared footpath around lake. Great for walking or cycling. 3kms from town but there are restaurants close by. Very friendly/helpful hosts. Excellent value for money!

Great place to stay, so close to the lake. The heated pool proved very popular with our children. The decor is a little dated but the unit was clean.

I stay here regularly for work, awesome hospitality, clean and tidy rooms plus the breakfasts are the best in Taupo. My favourite being the porridge with plums and almonds yum.

Heated pools and spa left my skin feeling so soft. Our family room was warm and spacious. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

So comfortable and right on the lake! Two-story with spa upstairs in master bedroom, everything you need downstairs: bedroom, stocked kitchen with tools (bring your own food), nice patio with walking path to lake. Very quiet and relaxing. We only stayed two nights — but next time we'll solpend more time! Service is also excellent. 5+ ***** :)

Lovely place. And very accommodating owners. Unfortunately we had been double booked but the owners went out of their way to make up for it and were very helpful and nice about it. The views are amazing and the facilities were great. Access to the beach is right outside the front door which makes it even better. Would absolutely love to stay here again.

On the positive side our room was large and clean. Free Wi-Fi was provided and there was something of a lake view but not exactly what we expected. Unfortunately the kitchenette and bathroom both are very dated and in need of refurbishment. Another thing we felt misled about is the view. The photos on the website make it look like you get an uninterrupted view of the lake from a balcony. This is just clever cropping though as in reality it was a narrow view between two buildings in front and the balcony turned out to be a motel walkway. Knowing those things we probably would have chosen somewhere else as this place is more expensive than others. Compared to other Comfort Inns I've stayed at around the world this was definitely at the lower end of the spectrum. The other issue is this place is about 4km or 45 mins walk from the main restaurants and shops of Taupo. You can get a taxi which takes about 5 mins to get there but at $14 each way this quickly adds up.

Very nice, and a wonderful staff. But they have to approve their internet. Today internet is more than just surfing. But this is me a internet geek. The location and everything elses is perfekt.

We are a family of 7 and had the lake front unit. The place was simply furnished but very clean and comfortable. The host and hostess were very friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful time — kids wandering off to the lake and had fun feeding the ducks, while the older people sat on the terrace and watched the sunset. Lots of interesting things to do around the area as well. This is certainly our idea of a vacation.
