Most horrible place in NZ.
Very disappointed in our stay there a couple of weeks ago. 10/10 for the location, but if under refurbishment, it would have probably been a good idea to start with the room that is most appealing. Those beach views are to die for.
1. For those people who don't drink tea or coffee, having the option of a chocolate sachet would be great.
2. Yes, there's a wardrobe, but not only is there no hangers, there's no rail to put them on.
3. A shower door that closes is another thing that needs fixing.
4. Could not access the Wi-Fi.
5. Stained queen bed mattress.
6. Rules and regulations booklet state no smoking inside for fear of setting the alarms off. There are NO alarms installed.
7. Extra pillows would be good and having extra blankets would save on your power bill from having to use the heat pump.
8. Finally, ants on the bench is not a good look.
please, please remedy these things asap.
I love the home of my tupuna, and would love to return to stay in a newly renovated accommodation one day.

Kawhia Motel Whaanau of 9 (7 adults 2 toddlers) booked into the Kawhia Motel (a weekend getaway) booked 2 family rooms. 4 of us including 1 toddler got put into room 7 next door to the office. First impressions stepping foot inside, a door the that had access from the office into the room, knowing these people have full access to the room even if guest aren't staying in it. Walk up a narrow dark stairway to the second floor to a bathroom that had wobbly tiles, a room that had roaches, a kitchen that had a dirty fridge with food in it (no milk aswell) as the freezer also had food in it, a pantry that had food in it. Dishes and cutlery that were dirty, rooms didn't feel clean at all, didn't even sleep in the bedding because we didn't feel comfortable sleeping in the sheets, we all stripped our beds and slept in our own blankets we brought. The railing to go up the stairway had massive gaps between each rail (NOT CHILD SAFE)
This room was an absolute stink (literally smelt like curry) absolute disgusting… disappointing to hear people actually live in this room and move out when they book it out to people DISGUSTING! The second room had the other 3 adults and other toddler in it. Kitchen wasn't clean, the bathroom felt dirty as well as the room, didn't feel like it had been vacuumed at all. This place isn't even worth give a 1 star rating. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
