Brilliant two days great staff very friendly very clean and worth the money.

Happy staff room service was good tidy unit quiet ticks all the boxes for me.

Very good. Done a lot of travelling this year both in UK & USA and this is one of the best value for money. Quiet at this time of year but friendly reception, good bar & good breakfast. Room is a little small but well appointed.

Great food for dinner and breakfast, bed is on wheels and rolls round when sitting up (maybe fix that) bar lady needs to smile and has the personality of a sponge. Cleaning need a bit more work in rooms. But aside from that would book again — stayed 4 nights.

Finished work late so I came to check in around 11.30pm however reception was closed. Tried to call around 10pm to let them now I’ll be late but was going through to voicemail. Most hotels call to see if customers will check in but didn’t get any calls.
Fix the phone outside that says “dial 800 afters hours” doesn’t work!

On a scale of 1-10 id rate them a 20… Thank you to Jasmine and all the kitchen hands for your awesome hospitality Great place to stay.

Very friendly and professional staff. Check in was quick and easy. Lovely comfortable bed and quiet rooms. Handy to town and easy parking. Onsite restaurant has a nice atmosphere and great food. Have stayed here twice and enjoyed both experiences. Definitely recommended.

The venue was ok for an overnight work stay, except for no hot water in my room. The staff didn't seem overly concerned when I raised it on checkout either.

The photos sure are deceiving. The rooms are small. Not particularly clean and need some TLC. No valances on the beds which looked yucky. The sheets were nice but the coverlet was yuck. No electric blankets and the room was freezing. Could not have the wall heater going as it was useless as well as very noisy. Rang and requested a freestanding heater. Which was pretty useless. We were very kindly put next to some builders/roadworkers or construction guys who decided to party till the wee small hours. No one answered the phone when I tried to ring during the night to see if they could be spoken to. So many little things just wrong about this stay. Another family member in another room had a leg missing off her bed and she couldn't sleep at all. One of our curtains was taped up. Really tacky. This will be our first and last visit. Spend some $$$ on the place and smarten it up.

The place was nice and clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

I had a comfortable stay here for four nights. The room was clean with a comfortable bed and good shower. Despite being near a busy road the rooms were quiet. The onsite restaurant also offers a good menu with good portions for the price. I recommend the Steak. I would not hesitate to stay here again in future.

Found The Room To Have A Musty Smell. Bathroom Very Small. Bed Too Soft And Bouncy. Very 3 Star.

Standard room is comfortable for a one night stay. However the constant drip out the window from the downpipe has meant NO sleep… Do ask when booking has this been fixed : (

We went to this hotel with alot of other family for a family reunion. They mucked up almost all our bookings. Also the place could do with a doo up as the lock on the other door had screws loose, the bed leg came of the bed when I sat on it and the door stop was just sitting there. Also if u had to fill up the just to make cuppa or a bottle for baby like I had too the only sink was the one in the bathroom which is unhygienic and the jug doesn't fit under the tap properly either. The only reason this review gets three stars is the lady on at reception fixed every problems the the other receptionist mucked up and was very apologetic and fixed every thing.

Long story short the owner is a jerk and the price for what is offered is nuts. There's a top 10 holiday park for $50 less for a larger bed and room. And nicer rooms for more still… An online booking mishap (through the booking company) that I proved to him was not enough for any niceties, apologies or even a fake sense of sympathy. Being as agressive and rude as he displayed so quickly is unprofessional. I hope whatever's making you this way in your life gets sorted out. I hope the staff don't cop the same. There's countless reviews about this owner being a tosspot, of which I add. The room is 3m by 3m though clean and with a bathroom and a tv. There's no views (the carpark doesn't count). INB4 the owners ego replies. Just don't go. Cheaper and nicer around with views and bushwalks.

AWESOMENESS Stay I'd recommend to all my whanau and friends about this Motel very clean and handy to town and all the supermarkets come here whanau if needing accomodation.

This is not to say this is a five star hotel but for what it is, a fairly inexpensive hotel, it's really excellent. We've stayed here a few times and it's always been pleasant. We've found the rooms to be clean and comfortable and the staff friendly and efficient. If you need an inexpensive place to stay in Whangarei, this is perfect.

1. Do not be deceived by the photos online as they seem outdated 2. Corridor smells of urine 3. Toilet roll was halfway used 4. Bed was broken 5. Chair in room was dirty and looked really old cushion was torn and has brown stains 6. Fan was full of dust (had to use this as there is no airconditioning) 7. Only a teaspoon provided no spoons or forks i would not recommened this place to anyone.

Unfriendly staff, dirty rooms, rooms not attractively.

Attended a confrence there. Kitchen staff where polite. Accomidating. Food was simple but delish. Plenty of food for all. Venues was clean and set up was great. Needed more staff on. Or those they had needed to check on coffee area. As maintenance was lacking. Needed to find someone to refill the very small water tanks and milk jugs.

Not a very nice place to stay. It could be so good if the rooms were clean and if the heaters work or if there was good service. But we got neither. I hope they improve as this was once a thriving motel but something is a miss and it seems not that great anymore. I would try again if I see the ratings improve.

Value for money. Good place to stay.!

The hotel was pretty nice and as expected, the king bed was massive!
Would've liked a slightly bigger kitchenette area though.
Pool wasn't heated but can't complain.
The road front rooms are a little noisy but overall the room was great.

A Nice option for Whangarei with friendly staff and clean rooms. The Room I stayed in was a standard room and a good size for one person and a short stay but a couple might find it a little on the small side. The bed I had was also uncomfortable and the rooms AC unit wasn't working properly but the venue was nice and the free unlimited Wi-Fi was fast and efficient.

Great stay at the Settlers. Comfortable and quiet room. Very friendly, helpful staff. I had an excellent meal in the restaurant. Would recommend to all.

Horrible place to stay. My 1st time experience was midnight knocks on the door which was experienced other patrons and was also reported at reception. Locals say this place is haunted. Second time I tried a booking online which is completely misleading. Where the motel staff said you wont get a executive studio for 4 people inspite of making a booking with clear notes and money taken out of credit card. This left me with nowhere to go as it was a easter weekend. All my other activity booking money went waste. bad motel and bad management.

In response to customor feedback and under new management, Settlers Hotel has recently commenced a quiet but steady upgrade, focussing on clean and comfortable accommodation, with friendly staff offering great service at a reasonable price. The upgrade is in its very early stages but already showing its worth, with the hotel occupancy and restaurant trade on the up.

I recently stayed at Settlers and was delighted to see it is currently being renovated with new management on board, fantastic food, friendly staff and lovely colonial style grounds I would definately recommend these facilities to both corporate and leisure travellers.
