Nice stay rooms are not quite what they show online. Customer service was okay.

All I can say is SUPERB /EXCELLENT. Harry the front desk was so nice, helpful and so friendly. Keep it up! Harry rescued us (4 families) and accomodate us at the last minute of the night. He was so friendly and was able to solve the issue in a very calm/helpful manner. I can say that this motel is so lucky to have Harry! I must come back here! Rate is just right! Property is tidy and nice. Must recommend this motel to everyone! Thank you for our wonderful experienced! 100 thumbs up!

A very poor management system at this property. I am stunned to hear that they cannot cancel a booking despite providing a genuine reason. I dont suggest to stay at this property unless you are repeated vistor. First time experience is fairly poor, I wouldn't book here again.

I had an emergency and I called into the office for help. The staff were helpful and amazing. I am so thankful to them. I recommend this place to all. Thank you for helping me when I needed it.

Went there for a night. It was super clean and cozy!. Also had a mid night spa. They staff are super friendly and know all about rotorua.

While there isn't a lot of high end services, the rooms are very clean and tidy. What the hotel does provide is great quality.

For the price we paid can't complain. The carpet was very stained, bathroom was a little dirty and the entire room needs a little more ventilation as we felt it was stuffy unless you opened a window — not ideal if the weather is cold. We did enjoy the fact that it was a close walk to the Lake and Eat Street.

Great hotel, not very far from the Center, easy to find, staff friendly, nice experience, I would recommend, just a small downside for the cleanliness of the room, if not super super overall.

They dont have a private spa but a public hot spa in the middle of the place, which everyone can share. Nice rooms. Not sure how special it is compared to other motels in Rotorua.

Beautifully situated at Lake Rotoiti's edge with nice grounds and a great restaurant. An older place refurbished and looked after well. The road running behind it can be busy at times with some road noise but not bad.

Appalled with the state of this place. Walked into our "family suite" and it was filthy. Like seriously filthy. Huge black marks on the kitchen wall, lounge wall appeared untouched with cleaning products for some time given the state of it, massive adult sized hand prints on lounge windows (inside and could be scraped off with a finger nail), mildew on windows, mildew immediately above the beds, very steep stairs with gaps between the railings so wide our 1yo started to back herself between them on the top stair! Free-standing heaters were on and set to 26 degrees! How is this a family suite?! Our kids ages were entered into the booking form online so no excuse to not ensure it was suitable for a young family. Carpets also filthy. We were moved to a cleaner room with no stairs after complaining but it still felt dirty. The reception staff were great though and beds comfy.

I am in the process of planning my wedding with the resort which I clearly received quotes for and I had accidentally emailed back the same questions to coordinator Rolando, he wasn't so nice I confirmed my wedding date for the 3/01/19 and he replied saying the 1st of March is not available, I corrected him and he replied with sorry the 3rd of Jan is not available, I'm pretty confused as they have 3x venues on the resort and they are fully booked on that date? Would not waste my time as his customer service is disgusting.

Good hotel with great lake views. No lift so porter needed for cases but only one floor anyway. Didn't eat here as the 'All Day Menu' finishes at 6 pm! Then it's a posh ala carte which we didn't want. Drove into Rotorua instead and found a great Irish pub.

Okay if a quick stay. No sky was a major letdown as its a common for all hotel and motel. Good size room but shower hot and cold was bit letdown. Net was free but but slow.

Free Wi-Fi provided here is Nearly equal to none. It provide free standard 150MB or 1GB free if you login by facebook. I login with my FB a/c so I have 1GB free. My wife just take the 150MB free offer. Both of us was suddenly being log out by the system and said we need to cool down and can be able to login again after 22 hours. Since we stay here only for one night that mean we will be log out  for the rest of our stay. When I check my usage just one minute before I being kick out by the system my usage remain are 812MB! That mean they only provide 188MB instead of what they said 1GB. The cool down period is un-reasonablely long. For my wife she also need to cool down after checking only a few all word only email. Location is next to the lake side, good view from the room.

Nice and clean hotel. Friendly staff… definitely NOT a 4 star hotel as advertised… perhaps a 2.5 star rating A bit on the old side but if you need a clean place to sleep for a night or two… this wil do.

Room was very dirty. Dust on all the surfaces and scuff marks up the walls. Ended up not staying the night. I hope they have a better cleaner now.

Great location, scouting for locations for upcoming family weddings and this ranks up there with the best. Very warm and friendly staff. Look forward to doing business with these guys over and above just staying and enjoying myself.

Very tranquil place to stay. Easy to get to and very nice hot springs close by.

The main advantage of the hotel is the access to the lake. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The card is constantly cohesiveness. The service is cool.

Dined at restaurant tonight. Very poor. Waited 40 mins for starters. Entree was poor. Very little beef. Overcooked pasta. Smothered in tomato puree. Watties probably. Main was better except for tomato puree again. Complained to manager who responded by telling us we are the only ones who complained. Hospo 101 mate never complain back to a disgruntled client. He did not charge us. Rightly so. Mate come eat anywhere in Tauranga and you will discover what customer service is in 2018.

Love living close to our Lake, walking around it in all weathers — it's great, varied and a wonderful slice of nature in the middle of Hamilton City. A must-do for all tourists … PS: The children's playground is best before 10.30am in summer xxx.

It is time to replace the carpet. Kids love the swimming pool.

The location was great. Rooms were spacious, clean toilets, nice amenities. Plenty of parking and the gates are closed at night but the carpets in the room were at a very poor start, stains all over them, the bed and linens had a weird smell.

Very peaceful place on the shore of Lake Rotoiti. Excellent in house dining.

Modest, spacious hotel with good amenities. We stayed in lake Rotorua hotel for 3 nights. We booked the 2 bedroom apartment. + Spacious rooms, comfortable beds and and friendly staff. Also free unlimited Wi-Fi — tired and stained carpets, marks on walls near stairs, next to a noisy road. Overall this hotel is good if you want to have space, and luxuries like a pool and spa at a budget price, however this is let down by the drab interiors and bad location (near industrial area).

Carpets need to be cleaned. Comforter was very dirty. The price was too high. Wish we would have never stayed there. Never recommend it to anyone.

Romantic setting, small room nice view ordered room service as it was winter and cold but the rooms heated up fast. Loved the bath over looking the lakeside. Professional friendly staff. Has 1 outdoor spa by the reception area next to the swimming pool.

Had a really pleasant stay. Beautiful lake view. Friendly staff. Uber comfy beds. Around 20mins drive to Rotorua city Centre. Could not fault our stay.

The views are beautiful, the staff are friendly, the food is good, the rooms are elegant but simple. The beds are really comfortable, the room is spacious and so is the bathroom.

Is a good and relatively new motel in Chinese hands. Clean and modern furnished with two rooms.

Excellent service and very courteous staff. Harjap is extremely friendly and provides really good customer service. Puts in time and attends accurately to all questions including helping out with local site seeing. Brilliant experience. Clean and cozy rooms and free car is convenient after paying ridiculous parking rates in Auckland.

Quaint. Very simple accommodation. But it is close to everything. Nice staff. Nice location. No bustle of a high price Hilton. Very good family vibe.

Nice room and staff … Two hours for room service after the restaurant was closed for a wedding … all good however was not told this when booking … food was terrible like cardboard… if you stay go to MacDonalds which would seem like a 5 star restaurant comparatively.

Spacious room and bathroom, amazing lawn in the back with a great view. A bit far from the town and you may experience some traffick when trying to drive back in. Good experience, all in all.

Check in was quick and easy. There's plenty of parking, several pools and a spa. I liked that the wall could be opened so you can take a bath while watching TV. There's not a lot of channels on the TV, but in this area there's plenty else to do. The bed was comfortable and the AC was relatively easy to use.

Lovely views, friendly helpful staff. Rooms clean and comfortable. About 15 drive to main centre. Breakfast was delicious tip prebook in for buffet otherwise you may miss out.

Had 2 nights here with the family and wanted to stay for more! such great nights sleep in super comfy beds after a delicious meal at the restaurant at the resort with super fun waiters who were a pleasure to talk to. The pools the spas and the sauna were superb and we definitely made the most of them price was very reasonable for what we got. They also had canoes or kayaks for you to use but we ran out if time to give them ago too… but will definitely do that the next time we are back there cause we will most definitely go back.

Our room was fantastic. The breakfast was a bit average. Location & the view made up for it.

I've came to VR resort (formerly Amora, Duxton) for the past eight years in a row, and it is a great escape from home! But this year (2015) it was a bit unorganised. Anyway Great Staff and Great quality.

We stayed at this resort for 3 nights. The rooms were very, very clean, the staff were very, very friendly, the restaurant services were excellent, the buffet were not big, but had everything we needed, the staff were so helpful. We had an amazing experience! Thank you very much. The children enjoyed their stay. You made them feel special. To all the new friends we've made: You are special, good, decent and caring people, everything a business needs. We which you just the best. Love. The MOFFAT Fam (Levin).

We recently had a really good holiday at VR Rotorua Lake Resort. The staff were excellent. Units were very clean. Views are great. What impressed me most was there was a wedding held on the Saturday with guests staying at hotel but we never heard any noise, and next morning rooms were cleaned and bus loads of tourists arrived and went straight to their rooms. Meals are great here too. It was nice to hear overseas guests views too. There were Canadians and Australians staying too and they all commented on how good this place was. And the cleanliness of the units. Definitely recommend this place and will be back.

My girlfriend and I stayed there for a night in July of this year. The photo's looked amazing — she got a Grab One deal based on the photos. We were really excited about the heated outdoor pool/spa's — being the middle of winter. Unfortunately, that is where the excitement ended… We arrived early afternoon, and headed out for a spa/swim in the pool. The spa was hot, but the pool was icy cold — super disappointed as that was the main attraction. The website stated "Heated Outdoor Pool" — super disappointing. We jumped in the spa though which was nice. The rooms are warm — and the one we had had a bath. "lets have a bath" I said to my girlfriend. Running the bath we discovered that the cheaky buggers had turned down the temperature on the hot-water (may be to save power? Do hotels usually do that? ) and that it was freeeezing! The showers were also cold. We managed to have a quick bath by using the jug.

Was a wonderful place. Lovely experience.

Pro's: nice location by the lake. We had a 6 and 4 year old and they enjoyed playing on the swing and trampoline and in the water in the lake. The heated swimming pool was nice for the kids as well as the spa's. We stayed in the timeshare part of the resort which was very roomy and pleasant. We especially enjoyed eating dinner at one of the outdoor settings overlooking the lake. Con's: We were really looking forward to using the paddle boats on the lake and were very disappointed when told they don't have them anymore. There is no TV4 or sky kids channels so bring your DVD's if you want to entertain the kids early in the morning. It's quite a long drive back into Rotorua (about 20 minutes +). It is quite noisy at night and when the big logging trucks go down the road it shakes the building like there is an earthquake, our kids were quite scared the first night because of this. Overall: Lovely place to relax, but too far out of town if you are doing activities that are centered near Rotorua city.

Nice resort by the lake. Very comfortable and relaxing accomodation. No stores nearby and the food was a bit expensive.

May 13th — Stayed the night, in their Grand King-Suite (201) for a night. Quite nice once the staff noticed we'd arrived and prepared our room. Champagne in the room was very very nice. To be fair, the initial impressions were unfortunately dissapointing, but found everything highly unobtrusive once we settled in. Dinner and the Restruant service was very excellent, as was breakfast the following day. Great location by the water, but the near-nill concierge-service left us not appreciating where we were until we checked out, but the recomendations of where to go next were highlights of the trip. Hotel Visited Immediatly Prior: The Ritz, Picadilly, London. Immediately Following: Huka Lodge, Taupo.
