Nice place to stay unique rooms. Beautiful view of the beach and super close to the town centre. Lovely cleaner who was very obliging. The owners need to smile a bit more and better communication about the rules of their property, so clients enjoy their break away. Maybe paid to much $255 per night for how we were treated. Will be back to Orewa again nice place and hadn’t been there for years. But will look at other properties next time, especially after the other properties we have stayed in up North, very accommodating, friendly staff (all) and a lot less $$! Other NZers appreciating NZers who live, love, shop local like I do as a business owner along with my staff always providing excellent service with a smile these cost nothing.

Lovely owners and staff. Decor, is 10 out of 10. Two things, no plug in bathroom sink, and chandelier did not work. But nice stay and would return.

My husband and I have stayed in a LOT of motels/hotels over the years, both in NZ and overseas. We’re not novices when it comes to knowing what to expect with accommodation, but even we were surprised by the unfortunate experience we had at Orewa Beachcomber. It’d seemed perfect online and we’d read countless, glowing reviews before we booked!

We chose this place as it looked comfortable, classy and relaxing. Now that we’ve stayed there for 5 nights, we know it’s anything but! In fact, it was more like a comedy of errors! The rooms DO look nice and have been very tastefully decorated, no doubt about it. But once you stay a few nights, you find out the pitfalls involved with staying at this motel…

To give you a bit of background to our unfortunate stay: I booked a family apartment via Booking. Com. After my booking was confirmed, I emailed the property directly to ask whether we could have an upstairs apt. They emailed me back to say ‘yes, we have booked you into an upstairs apartment’. I was pleased to receive their confirmation as I’d read via reviews that the lower units were possibly more susceptible to roadside noise and the upper units might be a bit more private.

When we arrived at the motel, we went to the reception area, where there was nobody to be found (this was actually a common occurrence at this motel — the owners seemed often quite ‘elusive’).

Having brunch at the eatery. What a lovely meal. We saw the chef picking herbs from the vertical garden, and now it’s on our food!

Fantastic friendly staff and great food, accommodation is A1, highly recommended.

This place is fantastic! Very accommodating, the restaurant is an added bonus, look forward to coming back.

Unless you like woken up to traffic at 5am I wouldn't recommend, and I'm not just talking a few cars. It's a shame because apart from not being able to sleep it's good.

Really a bit tired and expensive. Concerns started with the reception where the woman had a piece of sellotape on her jacket to cover a rip. The bathroom was not up to scratch showing lack of attention and basic laziness… I'm not sure how long the window frame had been in and not painted. Pitches itself as above the rest. That doesn't put much hope out there.

Clean, great service, nice rooms, great decor, my only issue was parking is tight to get into.

Beautiful room — and the most friendliest, down to earth lady at Reception! What a stunning place to overnight!

Rite across rd from beach checked in a little late but they were accommodating just forgot to stock the fridge with milk and leave Wi-Fi code apart from that nice clean and tidy.

Went to meet family for a meal and was over charged even though we confirmed what we had ordered twice. Sent two emails and made a phone call with a promise for a call back with no response. Wouldn't recommend eating at the restaurant.

Ive been here to their cafe twice in the last 2 days. Food and coffee are pretty good but staff seem muddled/confused about why they are there. There appears to be a new girl out front doing her absolute best while the others seem reluctant to jump in. It seems they want to give her a trial by fire. Do Cafes have these rites of passage? Anyway the service is slow and clunky. I would go back because the atmosphere is relaxed and the food and coffee are ok.

Perfect and the breakfast at the Motel Cafe is full and hearty.

A beautiful en pointe boutique hotel whose attention to detail in the interior styling department is a game changer. Excellent meals to be had at the restaurant downstairs. Don’t drive past make sure you stop and stay the night.

Excellent service! Our apartment was roomy and very well appointed. We had a peek into some of the other rooms and they were in equally as good condition. The adjoining restaurant is fantastic. Great food, great service, magic atmosphere.

The restaurant was lovely, friendly, attentive staff and the Chef's meals were a wonderful, fabulous taste experience. The Chef is a terrific, friendly social guy. We can't thank you enough for our meal times an being overall delight.

Comfortable and clean accommodation with a functional little kitchenette. Fabulous shower and good bedding, and in a great location (across from Orewa beach and about ten minutes walk to the centre of town). Wi-Fi functional but codes only support one device at a time, which was a little frustrating. Great for a short stay.

Lovely location, great beer on tap. I haven't tried much from the menu, but it looks great. We'll be back again.

Superb staff and a fantastic cook that made us the most beautiful steak we have ever had! Got a bit chilly in the evening and our host offered us a blanket. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Orewa Beachcomber was a lifesaver, the place is awesome to stay at, the owners are very welcoming, I have no complaints about this motel, would definitely come back here ans recommend everyone to stay here.

Delightful accommodation right across the road from the Sea and a short walk to the. Modern, clean rooms, friendly staff. What more could you ask for!

Just had a great stay in June and it was a good location, lovely rooms,, owners fantastic with nothing to much trouble. Highly recommend.

Very nice, friendly welcome, quiet. Good food on seashore across the street. But avoid the chinese café nextdoor for breakfast.
