Great food & service. Lovely Art Deco style.

Had a lovely breakfast here today before we headed home after a quick one night stay in Auckland. Food was delicious. Service was great. Lovely space.

Amazing high tea. So delicious. Streaks ahead anything else in town.

A wonderful experience. We stayed 3 nights, the corner room we had was opulent and just gorgeous. All of the staff were very courteous, helpful and attentive. Definitely coming back. Attention to detail in the decor and servicing of the rooms. Restaurant meals were delicious. Great location.

Tom and Filipo make great hosts at the upstairs bar. A classy affair with a range of very tasty home mead cocktails and high quality wines and spirits.

Amazing small hotel in Auckland centre. Revamped in its original style it's luxurious fabrics and furnishings ensure a wonderfully comfortable stay. Great bed, good sized rooms and lovely staff.

Lovely Sunday high tea here with friends. I thoroughly enjoyed the VEGAN nibbles as they were both delicious and presented beautifully. Good selection of fruit and leaf teas presented in era-appropriate teapots along with an ornate cup and saucer. Friendly and professional staff and the venue was stylish and welcoming. Thanks.

Fantastic place to stay if exploring Auckland, convenient to great shops and The Viaduct for restaurants / bars. Hotel has awesome rooms and the most comfortable beds and pillows I ever had in my international travels.

Love staying here. Small boutique hotel with art-deco theme. Gotta say I was a little miffed by the lack of iron/ironing board in the room but the under floor heating in the bathroom made up for that. Whether for business or a staging point in Auckland before you go see the real New Zealand its in a great spot.

Their bar on 1 floor is just nice and cozy. I would always go back for drinks.

Tasty food and excellent service. An interesting atmosphere that blends heritage elements with modern minimalist aesthetics. Only weak point was that the food seemed a bit pricey for what is was compared to some other restaurants that offer similar quality.

The best service great rooms, awesome staff and an awesome resturaunt.

Rude staff. People I was with, vowed never to return. I'm a bit more relaxed, but it became quite an issue, with 2/3rds of the party having a go at the staff for what they considered very rude an inappropriate behaviour over an extended period of time. I'm used to bad service, so I'd have let it slide, but the party was not generally, happy at all.

Cocktail bar is amazing. Good for dates and business meetings.

Always restful and lovely. A leisurely dining experience. Modest menu; just enough vegetarian options. They sensibly suggested a side order of fries from the bar (so not cooked in duck fat). Impressed at this suggestion.

Had high tea here. It was good but didn't dazzle me — especially for the price $55 a head. There are other places in Auckland that provide a lot more food at their high tea's for the same price point.

It's a hidden gem in the heart of the city, this place is classy, the service is awesome, the food is amazing and they have some fantastic cocktails. We stayed there for a night after celebrating, and the room was a luxury loft with enough space, light and a very chic bathroom. Highly recommended.

A fun boutique hotel. Great location, walking distance to what seemed like all the big tourist attractions and some great restaurants. Desk staff was friendly and helpful. Would stay here again for sure!

My go to hotel in Auckland, and I go a lot! It’s small and very quirky, retro even, but always spotless and comfortable. The staff always go out of their way when I have a special request. The restaurant/bar is nice and often frequented by others besides those in residence. It is quite centrally located in the CBD and easily accessible to the Britomart, Queens Wharf, SkyCity bus terminal, and Sparks Arena. Shopping and restaurants abound in the area.

I didn't stay at DeBrett, but was over there a couple of times for breakfast and drinks. The food was good and the staff friendly. It is also located in a nice neighbourhood. Great place to catch up with friends and colleagues.

Cozy and clean rooms. Great location. Friendly and helpful staff. Note that rooms don't seem to have iron in them, which might be a larger inconvenience for those on a business trip.

Great little hotel in a good location with helpful friendly staff. The restaurant is very good too, had a lovely dinner there (the pork belly starter and slow cooked lamb are excellent) the night we stayed. Will definitely be stopping here again if passing through Auckland.

Had weekend breakfast here. The style of the place seems to boutique chique, a sort of downplayed silver-plated service. It's tidy, in that slightly rough unfinished bare copper way, with an antique nod. The dining area is partly in an atrium, which provides excellent acoustics for guffawing diners and screeching children alike. The food was OK, but priced in the pretentious bracket. All that could have been forgiven, but the coffee was mediocre. In downtown Auckland, you can't get away with that sort of thing.

Fabulous hotel. Started in the loft suite. Nice room, amazing bed. Bathroom facilities are great including the huge tub-style bath. Bar and restaurant nice.

Hotel DeBrett was very nice. The overall theme was retro and very well done. The staff was very friendly, including the concierge, the bartender, and the restaurant staff. The room was spacious and very clean. Everything seemed mostly new and was in good order. The location is great, very close to lots of food and attractions. It is on a one way street though, which made getting a ride with Uber take a little longer than it should have. Overall staying at Hotel DeBrett was great and I would love to again.

This hotel is so warm and cosy with friendly helpful staff. Perfect for a cold rainy Auckland night. We were upgraded to the O'Connell suite not sure why but we certainly aren't complaining it was wonderful. You can tell a lot of thought and care has been put into the retro fittings. I loved the attention to detail. Our room had a beautiful but simple floral arrangement and a massive bath with Himalayan bath salts! My one gripe is that there were no complementary tooth brushes because we had left ours at home.

I love going to the bar here for an after work drink. Feels special.

My favourite bar & restaurant in Auckland. Beautifully decorated, the food is beautiful, great place for a quiet & relaxing drink after work and the staff are fantastic — especially Briar who is always so helpful with the random requests that I send through to her.

Sleek French hotel. So sexy.

I was here for an event and had a pretty unpleasant time — primarily because the bar woman was really rude and unprofessional, but also the rooms were stuffy and overheated and the decor is really dated. Recommend avoiding it.

Great downtown base to explore Auckland. Spacious suites. Lounge and library are great to chill in. Original touches well done. Rooms interiors don't quiet work but a good attempt. Certainly a great place to stay.

If youre not high-rolling, and you want to be treated like a 2nd class citizen and have someone like the owner Michelle look their nose down on you and not care if you have good service because you dont look rich. Then go and stay at Hotel DeBrett! You would think its gonna be great! It has amazing decor — high priced rooms, its got to be great! WRONG Dont make the same mistake as me. I was fooled by appearances. Ive had better service from cheaper hotels like The Grand Chancellor and they treated me with normal human respect even though I didnt look like a business owner etc. The owner of Hotel DeBrett dont care about you if youre not rich and they know it and they dont care that they make you feel like that. People who write good reviews about this hotel are the rich folk, the staff are great to them. If you want to know what it feels like to be a 2nd class citizen and be reminded that youre not 'that' rich so why should we be nice to you. Go and stay at Hotel DeBrett.

Super friendly relaxed staff, very cool design, huge bathrooms with lovely deep baths. I'm coming back.

Beautifully decorated hotel, and helpful staff. Bed was lovely. Bathroom spot on. Tasty muffins and home-made muesli at breakfast. DVD library and board games in the drawing room were useful when auckland had been exhausted. The only thing I can fault them on, is that they aren't too sharp at replacing the tea and coffee in the room. Something another reviewer mentioned. Phone reception and they sort it though.
