Absolutely filthy place. Stains everywhere, shower didn't work. Holes in ceiling. Left after one night. Shut the place down.

Beyond disgusting. Urine stench throughout room mould over the walls curtains. We were up for medical and I'm disgusted so telling the DHB to never send a family here again.

BEWARE OF STAYING HERE two people I know have on seperate occassions just recently had someone come into their rooms with a key and stolen their belongings. No cameras and an unhelpful management. So either long term tenants have extra keys or staff are robbing customers.

The staff were absolutely amazing. Best service I've ever had. They were so helpful and understanding. The place is very cute and quiet.

A motel in a great location that is showing its age. The rooms are gradually being refreshed. It's a functional, reasonably priced, but not flash motel. Value for money.

I was upgraded from a studio to a single room with 2 beds. The air conditioner didn't work/need the room which was in need of repair/paint. The fridge had no trays and the kitchen sink was stained and disgusting. Bed was hard and TBH I wouldn't stay again or recommend to anyone.

This place may be cheap accommodation but certainly not of a high standard. Firstly they did not have my reservation that I made on line — 20 minutes later I got given a key. The room was a good size, but very musty smelling and damp — the heater was unsafe and the air con would not work. There was a dirty mug in the cupboard and unwashed utensils in the drawer, the fridge smelled old and dirty. To top it all off, upon opening the microwave I found moldy food on a plate! I advised reception as I checked out, all I got was an apology and advised that they are going to change their cleaners. Overall a disappointing experience, certainly not going to recommend to anyone. For a motel on The North Shore and its fabulous location I expected a heck of a lot more!

The staff were awesome & went out of their way to help us (my husband, 1 year old son & me) ensuring we had a great experience. Great price, incredible service, but the rooms could do with updating.

Very nasty place to stay in. My room had finger nail clippings on the kitchen bench, old slice of pizza in the fridge and some nasty stains all over the room. If you read this review do your self a favor and go elsewhere and keep away from this place.

Close to Devonport and Takapuna but far enough away to be out of the congrstion of the North Shore.

Nice enough for a brief visit, but the place in general could do with a bit of TLC. Affordable for Takapuna, but if you're after somewhere Spick & Span, it may be worth looking elsewhere.

Do not even consider staying here … where do I start … the room was filthy! Old food in the scumy fridge. Dirty bath rooms walls and ground. Hair in the bed. Power blew in the room at about 10.30pm and no one was available for after hours at all. No answer. Had no power all night. I told the man the next day and I wasn't charged for that night. The next night I had to share a room with a work mate as I couldn't find accomadation els where and that was the most fowl room EVER. Food on the microwave and bench. Moldy shower curtain. Drain is also so block in shower that the water sits at your feet. So yuck! Then there was the cockroach. There was no word of a lie poo on the back and on the top of the toilet seat! There were multiple hairs in both beds and hair in the hand basin. Pubic hair was also found in bed. And also so so gross was a white pillow had a massive dirty mark from Some one dribbling on it. Clearly there was no way that bed had been changed. This was after admin at my work had called after the first night and told her to make sure the rooms are clean ect. The South African woman abused her. And was just rude. Never ever would I recommend this. Floors also weren't vacuumed… I wish I could give this a zero star… 1 is to kind.

Its lacking in a few areas. Work paid and how much would determine if it was bad or not. How much am I paying to stay here? Maybe my room was better but it doesn’t deserve 1 star.

Parklane Motor Inn Takapuna Beach Auckland. I booked this accommodation from Australia using Zuji and it was faultless. The managers accommodated a late arrival without issue — by leaving keys in a safe — and I registered the day after arrival. This was really great service and made a lot of sense. The managers were friendly and helpful without being nosy. I had an interconnecting room and found the noise travelled through. I felt bad for the people who must have been disturbed by our late arrival. I would highly recommend if booking this hotel that you specifically request no adjoining room as discussions between the rooms can be clearly. Otherwise great value for money and a really good location close to the road, but where we experienced no street noise.

Most disgusting place I have ever stayed at. Mould all over bathroom ceiling, walls and around the spa bath (that does not work) cuttlery not even clean. Found a cockroach on the couch. Holes in walls, broken door handle to go onto the balcony. (Won't lock either) Bed sheets not even clean and top blanket stained. Curtains r nasty. Close to the beach tho and staff are lovely.

Very tired needs a revamp. Very close to beach and town. Outside needs a lot of attention.

This place is disgusting. Mould, run down, smoke butts on the deck, beds are extremely old and I'd rather sleep on the floor which is concrete. Pool isn't working and no discount given. The list goes on on how bad this place is.

We had a great stay and we wanted to return for the next few weeks but the South African lady was an absolute nightmare to deal with after she overcharged us and took 3 days to try and get the money back with half a dozen separate arguments with her only concern of being correct and least concern of getting our money returned. Very sad and poor effort to represent the business she was placed in charge of. Otherwise most warming place to stay at and the guy and other reception lady were super pleasant to deal with.

Staff are very friendly and respectful, I really enjoy staying there when I can get a room.

We were booked in to this motel and prepaid for three nights for a room with disability access and facilities. The room was filthy, and when I approached the bed a large cockroach scuttled across the floor. On pulling back the bedding I noticed several hairs on the bottom sheet which I photoraphed. I rang reception next morning and politely explained our displeasure. The woman' response was a tirade of abuse and I was told we had to be out by 10am as we were only booked in for one night. We left shortly after that and booked into VR Takapuna where the faciilities and service were superb. I need to note also that the bathroom facilities at Parklane for someone in a wheelchair were nonexistant. There was no shelving in the bathroom and the towels were sitting on a rusted chipped shower stool. Unfortunately we had not read previous reviews. I believe this place is doing NZ tourism a great disservice and I am ashamed that this type of accommodation is being offered to overseas tourists because the photos are extremely deceiving.

It's a great location easy walk to town and beach.

Filhy motel. Embarrassed that this is the standard some motels are at in NZ, poor tourists. Should have no star rating and should be closed down.

The room was ok. We had clean sheets but it was tired. The most difficult part was being left out in the cold with my disabled son in Auckland with nowhere to go because we arrived after the office was closed. No apology and no refund and told we were lucky we weren't being charged the full price. The room we were then put in had no hot water. I had to shower my disabled son in cold water and when I spoke to the management on the 4th occasion I was told everyone else had hot water and it was an old building and there was nothing they could do about it. Do not stay here!

If you can 0 star a rating this is what I would give. What a hovel, dirty, un maintained and I felt unsafe. My stay was in two rooms as the first had no working a/c and was a dirty hole, the move to the second room to my astonishment was even worse. How do these people stay in business I wouldn't even walk barefoot on the ripped stained carpets let alone have a shower with nothing on my feet. I took so many photos but have only posted the worst two (changed my mind and added more). Do not stay in this motel.

Worn out rooms — dirty mouldy shower — blocked bathroom sink. Tiny TV with only 4 working channels. The microwave still had remnants of the last person who used it — the iron burn on the worn carpet just gave it that touch of uniqueness. The bed was real average On the plus side the staff were friendly and it's in a good location. The pictures look nice I've paid a lot less and got a better looking room — I guess it reminded me of why I normally don't bother with motels-

Do not stay here. All the 1 star reviews are accurate. This place is dirty, dated, and depressing. I'm laying awake in my room right now, unable to sleep because the door between my room and the next enables sound to travel freely. I can hear their conversations and the sports channel they're yahooing about. I feel very uncomfortable and not at all at home. I wouldn't recommend this place to my Worst enemy. Think I'm exaggerating? Come and find out for yourself. Not even the family of ants that's apparently lived in the bathroom could handle it — they're all dead and scattered amoungst the towels I'm supposed to use… This IS NOT 4 star worthy accommodation.

Nothing like the photos. Rooms definitely in need of upgrade and a good clean. Showers very grubby and mouldy carpet grubby and ripped. Ceiling Fans dirty. Certainly would not rate it 3 stars. Not on my list of motels in the future.

We were terribly disappointed when we entered our room. We were greeted with an offensive odour and the heat was overwhelming and when we tried to turn the air conditioner on nothing. We contacted the receptionist who advised us that it did not work and offered us the choice of finding other accommodation for us. The room was facing the main road and the noise was over bearing to the point we could not hear the tv. The room was in severe need of refurbishment and for the price, it was appalling. My advise to anyone thinking of staying there, find something else and to the owners, you should be ashamed of thinking people would be happy with this.

Stange place this one. Looks good on line but place is out dated, holes in walls carpet warn. Cleaning could be better. Near busy road. Hand wash dispensers are useless. Tiny little lcd TV from days past. Got charged full room rate. Even though online says cheaper. Not happy about that… but strangly found it good to stay at. Big room not bad lacation. If only the managment spent some money on it. Would give it 5 stars. Would I stay here again maybe…

From the service when booking, to check in and throughout the stay, the team were outstandingly helpful. This paired with a spacious, comfortable room made for a fantastic stay.

The woman at the desk is SO RUDE. I couldn't believe it! Long story — short: I rang up asking a couple questions regarding the bond I had payed, I just wanted to know why it came up on my bank statement. She basically yelled at me over the phone saying we never charged you and I already told you etctetc. When I tried to speak she would just yell over my voice and she hung up the phone on me. I have never witnessed or experienced such horrible customer service! I am absolutely disgusted in this woman, she should not be in a customer facing role if she cannot handle customer queries! I wasn't even being rude I was just asking when I would get my bond back!

Our stay here was very disappointing our room we booked 4 months prior was given to someone else we were shuffled off to another room which had an adjoining room with gap under door all noises heard WHAT A JOKE! the noisy inconsiderate people kept us awake NOT IMPRESSED! The outside door squeaks and bangs! Room cleaning service was a total crock as well no bath mat to stand on the light in the toilet was so dim you could not see in the night! the tiles in the shower were all exposed total lack of maintenance. When we confronted the manager she was not interested in any refund compensation or help. Our friends and family stay here when they come here to Takapuna but! after our issues they are looking elsewhere as well. At least the previous manger looked after us.
