Hostel The Globe Hostel

Located really centrally. Even though it seems to be inside the red light district, you must go further along the canal before you reach any windows. It therefore isn't a problem bringing children. The hotel lobby is a bar. You must show your ID card to the bar tender to get inside to the rooms. The music cannot be heard from the first floor, so this isn't a problem at all. One of the cheaper places we could find.

Stayed here for 14 days and thought for the price I paid (12-21 Euro a night) it was very good! It is in the heart of Amsterdam and only a couple minute walk away from the famous Red Light district and a handful of coffeeshops. The room I stayed in was cleaned daily by the staff and was very well maintained with lockers for security and clean bedding every morning. As a native English speaker I found it refreshing that the staff could speak so clearly and understandable while being very friendly and helpful with no matter what question was asked. The bar while fairly pricey was stocked well and had good deals when buying drinks in bulk. The toilets where very clean and looked well maintained. There is a outside area to chill at with benches and tables. The food while being pricey was really good and felt homely. If you want to visit the beautiful city of Amsterdam and feel safe while on a budget I would highly recommend this business.

Terrible unfriendly staff a guy with grey hair and glasses shouted at me for no reason, super dirty bath and bedbugs. Overpriced for no reason DON'T COME HERE.

The actual hostel is perfectly fine, the location is nice and they have a cool dark pub downstairs if you're into that. The facilities were very average and I didn't have many complaints except one big incident. The room I was in had me (a guy), 3 girls, and another guy. The other guy was extremely creepy from the beginning, he told all of us he was from a different place than he said before, he asked every girl's phone number, whenever a girl would leave the hostel he would ask where they were going and then try to follow them, that kind of thing. But then one night we caught him watching all the girls as they slept, standing right next to their beds. I talked to him, but he just pretended he didn't understand me (I speak Spanish, English and Italian and he said he was from many different countries in South America). The girls talked to the front desk, as did I, and the receptionist just told us to let him know if the creepy guy does anything again. The dude in our room was of course still acting creepy, and after multiple complaints to the receptionist they told us they would talk to him. Still, nothing changed, so we all checked out early. It was extremely disappointing that the staff would put the lack of hassle of moving him rooms or kicking him out above the safety and comfort of multiple guests, but what can you do?

Dirty place with badly used sheets that are still in use. Staff is the rudest I've ever met. As other people stated: bedbug infested. Surrounding area is way more expensive than the rest of Amsterdam.

We found it very cozy here and also the pub was great. Drinks and food were really okay and the service extremely fast and friendly. Despite a lot of audiences this evening, the service mastered the whole as if you were alone there. The location is also pretty good. Clear recommendation!

2 Happy hours at the bar downstairs, no Wi-Fi in the dorms, not very clean. But I had a lot of fun.

If you go alone to sleep it is OK but it is a cheap hotel with shared rooms and plus my room had a small window for 10 beds and it looked out on a light yard. In the room there were 2 plugs for 10 people.

This place has completely changed busted here since 2001. Always come back to here as facilities were great. Went this time. The smoking room has closed wasn't even open in all our 3 day stay. Also no kitchen and the bar staff. Older gentlemen pony tail manners didn't have any such a rude man.

Located in the centre of Amsterdam, close to the red light district. With bar service at the bottom. Cleanliness and facilities somewhat upgradeable.

Overall really impressed, was a bit anxious when reading the reviews but our room was great. There was 8 of us sharing 4 bunk beds, everything was clean and the beds were relatively comfy with a great view of the street and canal. The location is extremely useful, right next to the red light district and everywhere we wanted to go was no longer than a 15 minute walk away. At the end of the day you get what you pay for, its very cheap in a great location so I would definitely recommend it but don't go expecting wonders!

Great location, no TV in private room. But great staff good vibes.

The hostel is placed in amazing zone but after the service that they’ve given to me and my others 14 friends I have to say that I think that they don’t deserve the prices they are earnig per guest. Good point: the size of the restaurant which is downstairs, bad points: the bathroom (flooded after a shower), breakfast not included & the staff (=expensive).

Good hostel for its location and the treatment of the owners, also has a bar just below which is linked.

We booked a room for 8 as we were a group we were supposed to have bathroom for us without sharing, and it wasn't, it was the same bathroom for the whole floor.
The worst of all is not that, is that there is a plague of BEDBUGs, hygiene is lousy. In the middle of the group we were stung the whole body, I have the whole body full of swollen hives, very careful! I don't recommend anyone go.
The man in the bar is an unpresentable, if you do not carry the card to enter calls you all… Another girl in charge of the bar asked me for pictures of my credit card. Yes, too careful with the workers there.
The only positive thing is the location.

Well, the location is perfect for followers also of the red zone, restaurants and the bar is quite cool to follow European football.

Located a stones throw away from the red light district. It's basic but in a location that allows easy access to a lot of things. Very close to the train station. We went mid week and virtually had the bar to ourselves all the time. I loved the bar, lots of seating, pool tables, TVs and depending on the member of staff on duty usually plays rock music. Unfortunately our showed in the room didn't work but there was one down the hall so we didn't bother complaining. This is very much like a hostel so don't book expecting luxury. Personally I loved it.

Very cheap as it is 2 steps from the station and in the old town, but… You have to adapt, zero privacy…

The only positive in this place is that it is in the city center. However the price/ quality is bad. The room had five beds but only a small window. The worse is that when the window is opened. An unbearable smell comes in.

Cheap close to downtown I recommend it to everyone! Staff unpleasant but so much you never see them.

Great good beer good food open at 0900 for early pint.

Has bedbugs in one of the rooms. After doing some research this has been going back 7 or so years. The other rooms were fully booked so we spent the night the night in dam, was a fun story but its not the point. They've had this problem for years and they had the cheek to argue with me when I said we had found bed bugs in the room. We ended up staying in the "Budget hostel hear of amsterdam" which is literally a 2 min walk away just down the road. Until they sort out the problem please don't book. Other than the bugs though, place is chill.

Stayed in mid July 2017: The hostel is infested with bed bugs! Don't go there, it'll ruin your trip, it's not worth the good location. The hostel has a routine of pretending to be surprised and denying that it's a problem and continues letting people sleep in the infestation. The amount of bites we got is alarming for our short stay. Disgusting place! Rude, corrupt staff, extremely dirty frat house. All we were asking for was a place to sleep and we couldn't even do that. Zero stars.

The rooms are relatively clean and the hostel is located in the very center of Amsterdam. But these are the only positive parts of the hostel. First of all it's very very loud, because of the Bar in the entrance. Then secondly I have not experienced employees being as rude as the employees at Hotel the Globe. Thirdly they also charge you for everything! You even have to pay 5% more, if you want to pay with a Credit Card. When I told them "Wow. I didn't know that" they said "Well, then you should have taken a better look on our website". One more advice: Bring your own lock for your locker! They charge you 5€ for a lock (more then other hostels). It's good for one or even two nights, but nothing more! It gives you a bed but that's actually all you really need here in this city.

Great place. Hostel with bar, pool tables and nice canal seating area. Will definitely go back / recommend!

Exactly what I expected. Really friendly staff. Great drinks and atmosphere. Pool table, and table football. Rooms are adequate and are to a clean standard. Bar open till 3am for hotel guests. Would come again.

The hotel of for if not worth much but the location compensates wide.
