Lovely and quaint, this b&b is thé starting point to discover Appingedam and its surroundings. Breakfast is more than one bargains for, location is perfect, and the bed-part is just wonderful. Highly recommended and if you haven’t got any dinner plans: De Basiliek is your go to.
Impeccable heritage property, amazing, kind and informative host, fantastic location, immaculate and what else to say! A synagogue inside the property! Worth for money. Highly recommended.

We spent one night at the B&B de Vijgenhof in late August 2023. The B&B is actually a small apartment with a separate living room, bedroom and a small, but nicely equipped kitchen. The manger, Rosanne, was very nice and responsive to calls and messages. The location is on the edge of the city center, but very quiet.
We enjoyed having the ability to make and eat our dinner and breakfast in the apartment. The apartment was very comfortable. Oddly, there were some mosquitoes in the apartment. We discussed that with the manager who was not aware of the mosquitoes but was going to address the issue. She thinks that it might have been temporary due to the fruits in the fig tree in the courtyard ripening. The mosquitoes were a little obnoxious but not a serious problem. They did not bite us.
If you are light sensitive at night you might bring some eyeshades as the bedroom does not get completely dark. The manger was aware of that issue and seemed to be working on addressing it.
