Hotel de Koningsherberg

We recently stayed here for our vacation for 2 nights, booked through booking. Com. I accidentally submitted a review there without any comment so here is why it was 3 out of 10.
The room looked clean and nice. But the problem was the shower drain, which was completely clogged.
Because of the bathroom layout, the water spread across the entire floor and even under the toilet. We had to use the provided bath towels to soak it up to prevent it from reaching the bedroom. We called them at 9:30 pm and were told the manager would fix it next morning, but nothing happened. We informed the lady next day, who was cleaning the other room, and she said she would check it later, but no one ever came. When we returned, we had to open the drain cover ourselves to find out the problem and found a thick buildup of hair and dirt that was clearly not only from last a couple of days. As a person who worked in hospitality, I found this unacceptable. We reported the issue twice, yet ended up cleaning the drain ourselves. This should have been checked during housekeeping.
Breakfast was decent, with a selection of bread, yogurt, boiled eggs, vegetables and hams for sandwich. However, there were flies everywhere, which was a bit disgusting. They need fly killer lights like other cafes.
Bed topper and mattress easily slid, though they were comfortable.
The room temperature was not too bad during our stay. With the window open and the provided fan, it stayed cool enough at night.

We stayed 2 nights at the Koningsherberg on May 4th and 5th. The room was very beautiful, warm, clean, and cozy. And very new, as the rooms had just been renovated. The view of a meadow with horses was beautiful, and Anloo is a very nice little village with a rural atmosphere. It was a bit chilly in the room, but the portable heater did its job well and warmed up quickly. We slept wonderfully there.
The owner and his partner are very hospitable and super friendly. Breakfast was very good and varied, with freshly baked bread every morning. I have been living in Canada for 8 years and hadn't been to Drenthe for many years. It was special to be back and to relive childhood memories. A pleasant stay and nice conversations with Jeroen created wonderful new memories.
The Koningsherberg is highly recommended! I hope to go back there someday.
