Dirty place full of bud bugs weird staff offering hardcore drugs. Don't stay here if you respect yourself.

I love this place and the people… I had a dream about my experience last night, can't wait to go back!

Good place to stay chillout with open roof top with good view of the city with good vibe and with a happy family…

If you are on a limited budget or don't feel like spending so much on accommodation then this is the place to be. The interiors are very basic but the wall graffitis will give the guests a contemporary boutique experience. The roof top bar is the place to hangout and from which the view of the monkey temple is pretty good. Room service may not be the best available but the staffs are very approachable.

Very different stay for budget travelers in Kathmandu. You can't compare this "hostel" to any other places. But if you are looking for luxury it is not the place for you.

Best place you can stay in KTM, the staff are amazing — friendly, accomodating, and they go way out of theur way to make yoh feel at home. I can’t rate it highly enough!

Super place, my favorite even compared to Alobar1000 at the level less expensive, less cold, better Wi-Fi. Hot water average cons. No laundry but there are to side (not a problem). The decor is artistic and even a little psychedelic. The rooms in dormitories are original and it sleeps well. Dormitories 350rp and double room suite 1000rp for 2 people.

I have stayed at this hostel 3 different times now and stayed for more than a week overall. I would highly recommend this hostel for people looking for a calm place to relax with a very friendly staff. Do not take the negative reviews too seriously. I mean, if there's hot shower only on the second floor, what is the problem. You can go down a floor for a hot shower, can't you! It's a hostel with very reasonable charges for the mixed dormitory. They don't have lockers but I did not have any problem with that. I love their rooftop seating area which has recently got a makeover. I have attached the photo as well. Visit this place to relax, chill and make awesome friends. I would rate it 4.5 :)

A hotel for foreigner, where u can find like home in Nepal, Europe in thamel,, NOn other then MONKEY TEMPLE BACKPACKERS itself. Lots of meaningful contemporary art on the wall around the premises, gives u extra feelings of sensation,, everyone whoever comes in NEPAL must visit here when u are @ Kathmandu. So go here for good food and economic accommodation within ur budget.

Was not a big fan. Three things I want from a hostel: a bed, Wi-Fi, and a charger near my bed. The bed was too short for me (I'm only 6'1 or 185cm). There was no charging near my bed. The Wi-Fi was pretty bad even for Kathmandu standards. I guess that's about a half out of three. The bonus round is the bathrooms with the half height doors, do you like looking strangers in the eye as you lounge upon the throne? Upside, you ask? Staff were nice, and it was pretty cheap.

This place has potential but we were extremely disappointed. We booked a basic double room with a shared bathroom (3rd floor, king room). There was a sink in the room as it used to be a kitchen. The sink was backed up and stank of urine and sewage, we moved the bed, opened the windows and slept the wrong way round, but still couldn't avoid the stench. The manager's only solution was to spray the room with an air freshener, and then didn't actually come and spray it. The windows had no curtains so couldn't sleep well past 6am. There was no hot water on the 3rd floor, he told us we had to go to the 2nd floor. We may have just timed it badly but there wasn't any hot water there either. They wouldn't move us without charging us more, I can't believe people stay in this room and don't have any complaints! He still demanded the same price. The rooftop terrace is OK, needs some more floor seating areas as there were only benches out and a couple of hammocks. So always full. Beer in Nepal is generally more expensive than India so can't complain about that. I hate to complain so much about this place but it was disgusting. Maybe the dorms are better but we heard there are no lockers so poor security. We have now moved down the road to a place called family peace house and are so much happier. Same price for a double room shared bathroom, so much cleaner! I don't understand how monkey temple hostel is rated so highly. We've stayed in much better dorms for the same price.

I love the monkey temple! my favorite hostel while in Kathmandu. The atmosphere is always wonderful,. The guys who run the place are amazing! fun, and always helpful. The beds are comfy. They have cheap, good food on the rooftop as well. I would recommend this to anyone looking to meet some fellow travelers, chill out and have a good time. I will always return when I'm in town :) thank you!

Okay hostel, but we had a bad experience here. We booked two nights, but the staff gave away our room after one night and told us we had to leave and find a new hostel at 4pm on Nepalese New Years Eve. They also tried to overcharge us by putting us in a more expensive room than booked. The water also stopped running, and when it did work there is only one functioning shower for a BIG hostel. Cool common area. Expensive drinks for a hostel. Overall after our experience, I do not recommend.

Best hostel in Kathmandu. Close to Thamel and all the bars and shops. Staff is amazing. They have all sizes of dorm rooms and private rooms. There is an awesome rooftop hang out area. Great place to meet people. I definitely recommend staying!

Great place where to stay in Thamel! It 's like to be in the family you left at home, you come here and you don't want to go away… Staff are very friendly, professional and helpful! Location comfortable to reach each part of Kathmandu… I suggest everybody to come here and join this awsome atmosphere! I thank you everybody here and the beautiful people I met! Carry on this way, you all are amazing people!

A really good place to stay at Kathmandu. T is very nearby tourist bus sand and even the main tourist spots are quite near from this place. Hostel is comparatively new so the construction is still under progress, however, the theme s really nice. When I went there, I was told that the hot water is not available in certain rooms, but it turns out later that the geysers were not even installed yet and there was no hot water across the hostel.

Exellent hostel, the best overall hostel I have ever stayed in. Great location, staff, food and facilities. Definitely the best place to stay in thamel!

Best hostel in Thamel! I stayed here for a week and didn't want to leave! It's run by a group of friends who made me feel very welcome — I felt like a part of their family. The atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly in the rooftop bar/restaurant where it's easy to meet other travellers as well as getting to know the staff. One of the staff picked me up from the airport and took me to some tourist sites during my stay. The hostel is located just a street away from the crowds of Thamel so is more quiet at night. They have dorm rooms but I stayed in a private room which was very clean and spacious. I also recommend the Nepali Thali here — delicious!

Monkey temple hostle is an amazing place to stay in. Their prices are cheaper than other places and really worth it. The hostle style and design is very special and different than other hostles in kathmandu which makes it feels more comfortable and brings more mind peace. The staff are so friendly and they r more like a family that's welcoming new members. There is a nice rooftop where guests and staff spend alot of time so it is easy to meet new people. The food is really nice and the prices are less than any restaurants and hostles I have been to in kathmandu so you can enjoy good price nice meals on the roof.
Lastly, after leaving the hostle heading to the airport I found out that I forgot two pieces of cloth on the roof. My flight was cancelled and I stayed one day in a hotel next to the airport. I contacted the hostle and told them about my stuff. They pleasurably brought it to me in the airport which was really great and nice from them.
