I stayed here many years ago, and had the best experience. The staff were gracious and helpful. Looking forward to coming back.

Love the decor and food. A family favorite and a must whenever we are in Nepal.

One restaurant is in hotel, and they have Tibetan hotpot called gyakok. I strongly recommend this hotpot. Vegetables, some meats, been starch vermicelli, tofu (bean curd) are included. And have more side dishes, rice, momo (steamed dumplings), fried noodles. If you don't want meat, you can choose vege gyakok. Gyakok will be served from 2ppl, if you come to eat alone, you have to order for 2ppl. Anyway, if you stay in Thamel area, you should come to eat gyakok.

The food is incredible without a doubt and the owners/staff are lovely.

I've eaten here 2 nights in a row and gave not been disappointed. The food is very fresh, tasty and good value.

I loved staying at the Utse. The staff are the friendliest and accommodating. And rooms are clean and tidy. Food is great and not too heavy on the pocket. The hotel and it's rooms have an old rustic feel to it which gives it alot of character. I am grateful for being a guest at the Utse.

Its simple yet good place.

Really good food, loved the Tibetian set with buff, especially the buff momos. Consider that the kitchen might close shortly after 9 p. M. When you plan on having a dessert better come around 8 p. M. :) UPDATE: We went there in total 3 times, first time had the above mentioned Tibetian set which was awesome. Second time shared Gyakok which was also good. Third time though we had the Tibetian set again and this time it was so-so. The meat on the dish bottom left was half fat and half cartilage and the dishes on top left and right were not well seasoned (last time it was very balanced and tasty). MoMos were still good but had also some tiny pieces of cartilage in them. I don't know the reason for those quality fluctuations, first time was really excellent. Would still try it out, hopefully the last time was an one-time incident. Still only four stars now due to fluctuation.

I wanted great food, rooftops and tasty food. It got a 10 for everything.

Its usually a very packed place but otherwise the food and stay is good and service is quick.

Looks a bit seedy when you first come in but then comes the service, the food, food presentation and more. This was such enjoyable dining — highly recommend this place for anyone looking for Tibetan style cooking. Yummy!

Great Tibetan food. Place with a history.

A decent but absolutely not luxurious place on a dusty and roadway street. But it gives a complete representation of the environment of the local habitat. Great, not expensive restaurant with different dishes. San technique level-a little more and fall off, the shower fills all the space around T. K. No curtains, and jets of water live their lives. A piece of soap will make your life cleaner! About a kettle and tea with a kofiem, it is not necessary to speak, two glasses and a jug for water which it is possible to take in a general corridor. But in general, one, two nights can hold out, it seems that this and calculated. For tourists hiking is the most! The location is perfect!

Ridiculously slow service in the restaurant. It took a full FORTY FIVE minutes to get a single order of MoMo. But at least they were good.

You won't get amenities, AC and neither water bottles nor breakfast, it's just the room for 37$ USD.

Every thing is Good but at check out time check ur bill and verify from menu. Only 3 or 4 staffs here. One can get girls easily in hotel.

Really enjoyed the food here and the look and style of the place. One wall us filled with items of information about the restaurant from it's past and the association it has with Tibet and the dalai lama it was all very interesting. The restaurant was filled with a lot of local so also a great sign of some good eating! Had the Tibetan hot pot and it was amazing real good hearty food!

Food tastes good and authentic. Provides interesting tibetan snacks. And the owner looks so nice and kind. However the waiter's English needs some improvement and during the process of ordering, he left without noticing to arrange table for new guests which is really rude.

Lovely place. A home away from home.

This is my favorite and only place to stay in Kathmandu. Within walking to many embassies and places of interest just around the corner. The staff make you feel like family and home. Clean newely refurbished and a beautiful roof stop space for chillaxing, yoga and meditation. A full resturant and great menu with authentic dishes.

Tibetan style hotel with superior style. Unlike other hotels in the area you won't feel over run by Chinese guests. Pleasant stay.

Enjoyed this place which is old school Kathmandu Tibetan style. Good vibe, nice people and good value… and they have tongba.

Best meal in Kathmandu yet! Tibetan or Nepali cuisine. Not even expensive.

Food was ok with blended plain taste, to say for euro-american tongue. Service was good.

After seven trips to Nepal, this is hands-down my favorite place to stay. The staff is warm, friendly, and efficient. The prices are fair. The food is delicious. The atmosphere is homey and elegant. We love the Tibetan motif and the quiet Buddhist ritual that permeates this place. And the proprietor, Madame Diki, is graciousness personified. Definitely our home-away-from-home! We can't wait to come again.

Hey World Travelers! If your feet ever touches Nepalese land you have to stay in this hotel. Among all other places I stayed this one is far the best. First of all — it is the hotel, where all expeditions in 70ties and 80ties stayed before heading to Himalayas. Secondly — the price — it is affordable comparing to services you get here. Other places are maybe a little bit cheaper but far far away from the climat and range of rooms you can choose in Utse. I loved the stuff and food over there as well. Go for it.

This is a nice, clean hotel. The prices are fairly good, the staff is very friendly and the restaurant serves up really good food. Each floor has large containers of drinking water for free. And, while you're trekking in the mountains, they'll store your luggage for free. I'd most definitely stay their again.
