This is a very cool place overlooking watering holes for the desert elephants in the area. There are several sizes of accomodations — ours for two people were probably the smallest. The bed was in the middle of the room with the bathroom and a dressing area accessible behind it from either side. The architecture was lovely in the main reception and bar area and you could see the elephants from a distance at the bar. The freeform pool was always crowded and guests monopolized the loungers with their towels even though they were not at the pool. The food was pretty good here though I didn't eat the meat as I found it was tough and quite a few people agreed. Desserts, salads, breads, breakfast was good. We had a game drive one afternoon and saw a huge number of elephants up close. Included was a sundowner on the top of a ridge with snacks, beer, water and soft drinks that was very nice and I believe hosted by the hotel. (We paid for it but the hotel provided it). The staff was extremely friendly and nice. The Wi-Fi only worked in the reception and bar area, not in your accomodation.
I had a pleasant stay here, with several aspects that stood out very positively. The property is clean and well kept. MTC mobile coverage is limited to 2G, and Wi-Fi is only available in the main building, but it works well there. The service is attentive and thoughtful, and I appreciated that the lodge offered a good number of activities even during low season.
One of the highlights was the night sky. I have rarely seen such a clear, cloudless sky with so many stars — it was truly unforgettable. The elephant excursion in Damaraland was spectacular and absolutely worth doing. The visit to Twyfelfontein is excellent, though I would recommend going directly rather than booking through the hotel, as it helps avoid an unnecessary surcharge.
The food was average. And one practical detail to note is that there were no plugs available to connect the car fridge in the 4x4, which would have been very helpful.

Visually stunning, with some dramatic red rocks and boulders surrounding the property. Yet another unique place in Namibia (which is replete with unique places), in the middle of nowhere, but providing all amenities. The rooms are pleasant and adequate, with each room offering some stunning views of the desert landscape. The main building has the dining area, a pretty pool and a lounge area to relax. There are some very old stone engravings within the property. Keen eyes can spot many animals, birds, reptiles and insects. There are some walking trails which lead to beautiful viewpoints. The lodge offers many activities, most popular one being the desert elephant safari. The guide does a brilliant job of spotting the elephants, explaining in detail regarding the habitat and how they adapt to the harsh conditions. The sundowner in the end is another highlight. The staff are pleasant, prompt and ever ready to serve. Undoubtedly, a must-stay property!
