Gabus Safari Lodge

This „Lodge“ was absolutely not for us. It is more a rest camp than a lodge (lads of scrap lying around etc). Especially distracting was the collection of furniture; nothing matches each other, in public areas as in rooms. It is advertised as a family-run Lodge, but we did not see anyone of the family, so we cannot even label it as a “guest farm”. Our room was not very clean. What confused us is that we got a luxury room converted to a family room and not the family room as per their website. Apparently, they were fully booked, which was not the case and the actual family room was free during our stay. Dinner was good, as was the breakfast. Service is ok, once you find anybody that could offer a service. Nobody during our 2 nights and days every asked, while we were on the terrace, at the pool, at he bar etc if we like to have a drink or so. Gabus is completely focused on regular travel groups and individual travellers seem to be “2nd class guests” (e. G. Dinner at 19 hrs, we waited an hour for a group to arrive before dinner start; no word from staff that it will still take some time or so).

We have been at Gabus Lodge on the second day of our trip and we loved our stay there. Harald and all personnel were great and made us feel like home. We highly recommend the safari drive with Harald, who was more than available to answer to every questions we had, to share great stories and to prepare the best drinks at sundown. Also the dinner was one of the best we had in Namibia, with amazing variety.

We stayed here for just 1 night on our way to Etosha, but wished we would have had the time to stay longer! We stayed in the 'family' room which contained 2 rooms (parent and kids room). We really enjoyed the meals and just sitting by their watering hole enjoying the camp fire, a beer and the great view of the antelope, giraffe, etc.

The campsite is beautifully equipped and we woke up to an ostrich and giraffes outside the fence. We were able to use all the facilities so had drinks by the waterhole then a superb buffet dinner, then they lit us a fire so we could sit outside again and watch the impala. The outside area is beautifully equipped, with so many birds too. Very warm welcome, would recommend to anyone.

Very nice campsite with great spacious and clean ablutions. Right by the fence of the private game reserve where you can walk by your own. Very friendly staff and owner. Nice Bar and a good Restaurant with a very good dinner buffet. Would definitely go there again.

Loved our stay at Gabus. Friendly staff, food was delicious and the sunset horse Ride was one that we’ll never forget. The wildlife around the lodge is stunning. We would definitely recommend. One of our highlights of our trip!

We just had a very nice stay at Gabus Safari Lodge. We went during the rainy season which is definitely a recommendation as the landscape is green and even some flowers are blossoming. The waterhole near the lodge was full and caused many animals to appear.
The family Kühl are very friendly and welcoming and ensure that your stay is just as amazing as the surrounding nature. The lodge is nice and clean, with a beautiful pool area to relax. The food prepared by the staff was very tasty and presented beautifully.
The land on which the lodge is set is truly beautiful with many animals and there are even opportunities for hikes close to the lodge.
A vacation to never forget! Definitely want to return in the future!

Our stay at Gabus was truly enjoyable and exceeded our expectations. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome and ensured we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.
The accommodations were clean, modern, comfortable beds and the views were absolutely stunning. Both from the rooms as well as from the breakfast and dinner location. The view of the waterhole was amazing and on numerous occasions we had some nice visitors (giraffes, impalas, gnoes).
We also had a bush breakfast which we greatly recommend! A beautifully prepared breakfast in the middle of the bush with beautiful mountains in the background and wildlife around us.
One of the highlights was the warm and friendly atmosphere created by the family who runs the lodge. They were approachable, helpful, and genuinely invested in making sure we had a great stay. The game drives were very unique, and we even spotted a leopard on our final day!
We will be coming back!

This was our second visit, and once again, it was an incredible experience. The family-run lodge, conveniently located near Otavi, is the perfect place to relax and recharge on the way north. The food was outstanding, and the highlight—especially for our daughter—was the unforgettable horseback riding excursion. We can’t wait to return!

One of our best stops during our honeymoon trip. Loved feeling part of the family — the horse riding was amazing and the sunrise breakfast was one of the highlights of the trip. All of the staff are really welcoming and give a great insight into the running of the farm. The food was so tasty and the rooms overlooking the waterhole were so special. Thanks so much.

We stayed at Gabus on around trip in Namibia for three nights and enjoyed ourselves a lot. We had opulent breakfasts, marvellous evening meals and (don´t forget to ask) delicious homemade cake in the aftenoons. It is a very beautiful lodge with very friendly and attentive staff and owners, beautiful rooms and a wonderful pool area.

Lovely lodge with lots of exciting activities. We went for a safari drive and saw a leopard 🐆. The whole lodge area is equipped with fast and free Wifi. The food, especially the dinner was excellent, probably the best meal we had during our trip. Friendly staff and accommodating owners.

We had a wonderful stay at Gabus Lodge. The place is very well maintained and tastefully decorated. The rooms are spacious, with comfortable bedding, and offer a fantastic view of the waterhole, where you can admire many warthogs, oryx, impalas, and birds! We went on a night safari that allowed us to observe many giraffes, hyenas, baby bush animals, and many other species. The meals are delicious, and the wine list is extensive. We were particularly touched by Heinz's kindness, who took the time to explain the origin of the farm, his fascinating daily life, and his love for this region. My mother forgot a reading device in the room, and Harald kindly brought it back to us a few days later in Swakopmund. We are fully delighted with our stay and regret not being able to stay longer.

Far away from everything there is a nice ranch with all kinds of animals. Some of us went horse riding. A unique experience to explore wild life. The food and service was excellent. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Suggestion: rooms can be a bit more modernised.

A wonderful place to stay. Rooms comfortable and well appointed. Great outdoor spaces to relax. Wildlife good. Professionally run. Only the highest standards acceptable. Staff well trained and friendly. Cannot get better food anywhere in Namibia. Owners personally involved and friendly. Lots of activities to do. Stay two days! One night too short to experience all. A wonderful place on the way to the North to stop and relax.

Beautiful place in the Otavi Mountains. After the long drive, we really enjoyed the hiking trails in the private game park. Our spacious room was facing the water hole. Perfect place to sit on the deck and watch the animals passing by. The food (dinner and breakfast) was just outstanding — greetings to the chef! Thank you to the owners and the entire team, we could feel your passion!

We spent 4 nights at Gabus in April 2024. A family with two children under 10. It is an oasis, located just 1.5 hours away from the Von Lindequist Gate of Etosha. We can tell you that the beds were comfortable, the food amazing, the wildlife experience exhilarating and the opportunity to horse ride amongst game a true one off for a family like ours. But what made it matter was being welcomed and made to feel at home here by the Kuehl family and their team. Genuine warmth and hospitality does not come on a training course. We will come back.
