Mobola Island Lodge

Our Stay at Mobola Island was a wonderful experience. We were so fortunate to stay alone on the island, so we had the pleasure of total quietness and relaxation. Very friendly staff as well. Will definitely come back.

Second time at this campsite, so I absolutely recommend it.
Staff is really good and speaks English (some German as well).
The campsites are always clean as is the shower/toilet area. Every site has it's own place to cook, make a fire and do the dishes. There's also a little, private shower.
The bar is really really nice. Right next to the river with cold drinks and good food (order it as soon as possible).
Apropos food: Ask at the reception for meat, they do have some game (like zebra) in the freezer for you to prepare.
I can't say anything about the chalets but they look nice from the outside.

We had an absolutely unforgettable stay! The campsites were spectacular – clean and perfectly set up to make us feel close to nature.
The highlight, though, was Georg. He was friendly and welcoming. The fishing trip with him was a true highlight of our journey! Georg even went out of his way to make us a special student deal for our fishing trip, which made the experience not only memorable but also very thoughtful and generous.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for a special camping adventure!

The chalets are very generous in size and and with distance to other chalets. The terrace for dinner at the river on the island is fantastic, foof was great. Loved it!

This is a excellent little place — like a small piece of paradise. Since arrival to departure, you are one with Nature. You will find birds hopping on your doorstep… the sound of the river when you go to sleep and woke up… just to witness a smokiness is covering the surface in the most beautiful patterns… making it mesmerizing to watch. The staff — the garden — and they have the best steaks that you can buy on your own barbeque setup. This place should be on your comeback tick list whenever you visit the Okavango.

Loved this place. It was wonderful staying in a chalet tent on the island and watching the hippos in the river. It was peaceful and very relaxing. The whole lodge area is beautiful.

A very nice lodge and campsite with the cool bridge to the Okavango river island with the lovely Bar and dining deck. Everything is perfectly built and maintained. We just had an issue with the shower in the luxury bungalow. Would definitely go there again. Also Berta's self cooked dinner was delicious. And her presentation of the same was amazing.

I went camping here with my family, it was a beautiful view from our campsite number 4! And what a treat with the water this high. We also did the sunset cruise, a sunset on the river is always a must. The island has the bar and chill area, we didn’t stay long enough to enjoy everything.

Beautiful resort on the Kavango river. Large, well planned and maintained camp sites with everything you need right on your site. Communal ablutions are clean with hot water. There are motion detection lights that light up your walk to the bathroom at night. No loud overlanders here. Good dirt road to the resort.

Absolutely amazing. The facilities, the staff and the location! We stayed for three nights and could easily have spent an entire week. I will be back during the Tiger fishing season to give it a bash again.

I should have researched this more, the tent here was wonderful.
The chalets are brick built in a row and look very nice, neat outside and comfortable inside but the riverside tents even better. The tents are hard work to get to. 500m walk to ours, the furthest, 400 metres sand, 100 metre safe but wobbly steel and wood bridge. So each trip is over 1km round trip walk in 35c to bring some-thing from your car. For one night we carried only essentials. Clean clothes, toiletries, wine and food for dinner, cereal and milk for breakfast. And through sand and a bridge you have to carry not drag, for 2 or more nights you'd need the porter assistance. But the walk is so worth it.
We should have stayed for 3 nights of complete rest and relaxation. The tent and bedclothes were immacu-lately clean, the kitchenette fully equipped for cooking and eating meals, fridge, double gas hob or braii/bbq with firewood and lighters. And to top it all the stunning view across the Cubango river to Angola especially captivating at sunset. There is a bar for drinks riverside and even a picture perfect natural pool, excellent.

We stayed in a tent/cabin out on the island, so our deck was right on the river. It was fantastic! The style is sort of primitive luxury; a big bed with mosquito netting (however, there were no mosquitos), a cool rock shower, a small kitchen setup and a deck to watch the river and otters move by. I wish that we had stayed more than one night.

Stayed in luxury bungalow, very well equipped and comfortable enjoyed watching birds in front of river. Dinner was simple but good.

One of the very best accommodations I had during my 65 days travel to Africa. Rooms are big, kitchen fully equipped, we cooked a very nice dinner, the area is just amazing, the stuff also! All in all a fantastic stay!

What a beautiful location! Friendly staff and delicious dinner and breakfast available on request. The rooms are modern, nice design, clean and comfortable. The bar on the island is a must go. Hopefully the bar can be openend more frequently in the future.

I loved this wonderful place and you will too. So much care has gone into the design and maintenance by the owner and his lovely staff — including a fine garden with a remarkable mix of different types of palm tree. It is also incredible value for a very classy and stylish place — not least the island bridge and bar which will take your breath away. We camped and the site was spotless and even had its own outdoor shower, as well as a good shared hot one. I really recommend the dawn boat ride amid the islands too, an insight into life on a river which divides two countries politically but is united by a shared tribal life.
