Reviews of Shipwreck Lodge
Absolutely loved this place. It was certainly one of the main highlights during our stay in Namibia. From getting there (our self drive to Mowe Bay and the drive from Mowe Bay to the lodge) to the beautiful and unique design of the accommodation was absolutely stunning! We loved every second here. The service, the food (Thank you chef Siegfried) and the activities was brilliant. We actually were thinking of even prolonging our stay as we enjoyed it so much. Lastly, thank you to all the members of Shipwreck lodge from Patrick, Ballack, Bravo. Rosicky and many more (sorry for not recalling all the names) to making our stay so special! Thank you!
While driving along the roads less travelled we stayed for 2 nights at the beautifully designed Shipwreck Lodge on the Skeleton coast of Namibia in the middle of No-man's land. Accommodation is very unique with stunning views of the Coastline. Staff is very friendly. Attention to the variety and quality of food would need to be improved and therefore value for money is in question. Overall experience is very impressive considering the remote location the lodge is situated and deserves def. A higher star rating than a "2 star hotel" as advertised on the website :) hahaha.

This is a really cool lodge on the Skeleton Coast where it feels like you’re at the end of the world. Everyone who works here was so sweet and helpful, the rooms are totally unique with their shipwreck look and feel, and the food was very good. The outings were really great too. We saw the giant seal colony (likely 10k+ seals) at Mowe Bay, went up the ephemeral (mostly dry at this time of year) river to see the rock formations and animals, did the quad biking and dune boarding (basically sledding down the dunes) and spent time walking along the beach and having lunch on the beach. As for animals, we saw two brown hyena, jackals, springbok and a bunch of other animals.
There’s no place like this — a total one of a kind type of experience.
Giant thanks to our guide Shimi who was not only amazing as a guide but when the fog wouldn’t abate and we couldn’t fly out of Mowe Bay, he drove us all the way to the alternative airport 3hrs away for us to still make our flight that day. He was amazing.
Definitely give this place a try.
