A beautiful sanctuary above the city with top-tier apartments.
We stayed here at the very beginning of our Namibia round trip to decompress after the long-haul flight. The location is excellent—situated beautifully above the city, offering fantastic views. We stayed in one of the studios in the upper section, which turned out to be a massive, outstanding apartment. It comes with a fully equipped kitchen, a dedicated laundry room, a huge living area, and a separate dining room. Both bedrooms feature their own en-suite bathrooms and walk-in closets. There is also a wonderful private terrace equipped with a BBQ grill. The property is incredibly generous with amenities: a great coffee machine and complimentary drinks (including wine) were provided.
Breakfast was a real highlight: a fine, high-quality small buffet complemented by an excellent a-la-carte menu. The egg dishes and breakfast platters are fantastic, and the coffee is properly made from a real portafilter machine. We also had dinner at the hotel restaurant, which was very good. Above all, the staff is wonderfully warm and welcoming.
Our Travel Tip: If you are planning a long self-drive journey across the country, booking one of these upper studios is highly recommended. Having a private laundry room right at the start / middle / end allows you to perfectly prep your gear and clothes before hitting (again) the dusty gravel roads.

Lovely room. Very comfortable, very quiet, and a great bathroom. Fantastic breakfast! The only issue: We had booked our room for two beds, which were not ready as they were combined as a king. We asked to have them remade, and were assured that would happen while we went to dinner. It wasn’t. We had to wait 45 minutes for an overworked nightime housekeeper to come. Disappointing as we had a similar experience three years ago and had been assured that it was a rare oversight.
Handy that the hotel has a van and can arrange drop off and pick ups for Windhoek sights and restaurants… but if your drop off driver is going off shift, you might have an issue with the location of the pickup, so be extremely clear.

We stayed at The Weinberg Hotel in Windhoek twice, for two single nights, while in transit — first on our way to Southern Namibia and later before flying to Tanzania.
The hotel is very beautiful, with the classic and refined style that characterizes the Gondwana Collection. We particularly appreciated the photographic prints on the walls, which tell stories of local life — truly tasteful and evocative.
Breakfast was good, and the hotel also hosts several excellent restaurants. Among them, the Fish Market really stands out and is rightly considered one of the top dining experiences in Namibia. We strongly recommend booking dinner well in advance, as it is almost impossible to find a table otherwise. Lunch, on the other hand, is usually easier to arrange.
Cleanliness was excellent, and the room was comfortable and well equipped. The only downside is the hotel’s U-shaped layout, with a fountain and small square in the center where the restaurants are located. Unfortunately, rooms overlooking this area can be quite noisy, as laughter and conversations from guests often continue well beyond 10 p. M. Which can be disturbing.
That said, the staff is extremely kind and professional. A special mention goes to our driver Innozent, who took care of several transfers for us, always impeccably and with great attention to every request.
Overall, The Weinberg is an excellent transit hotel, but we would not consider it a holiday destination for a longer, relaxing stay.
