We booked the Livega House in Windhoek specifically because of its convenient location near Joe's Beerhouse. The reviews were promising, but unfortunately, our experience was quite different. We received a warm welcome upon arrival and had booked and already paid for an expensive Executive Suite on the rooftop with panoramic views over Windhoek. Instead, we were given a significantly cheaper standard room, which we immediately complained about.
Since the reception closed at 5:00 PM and we arrived shortly after, no one could help us. The next morning, we contacted the office manager responsible for bookings and presented her our booking and payment confirmation. We were very rudely informed that their computer system had displayed a standard room instead of the more expensive Executive Suite we had booked and already paid for. We politely requested clarification and a refund of the overpayment but were very rudely dismissed with the explanation that it must have been a booking error.
Since we needed to get to the airport in time for our connecting flight to Cape Town, we left a copy of our confirmation with the office manager, requesting clarification. The following weeks passed without any response from management. Livega House seemed to be deliberately ignoring the matter. Apparently, they didn't even deem it necessary to apologize or refund the difference.
Exceptional staff, clean spacious rooms. Can’t say enough about how helpful and kind the staff were.

The room was good and generally clean.
— Annoyingly, there is no available management after 4pm — I was given the room key by a security guard.
— There was no hot water. After working all day and driving for four hours, all I wanted was a hot shower and a decent bed. There was no available management to sort the issue out, which is abysmal in winter in Windhoek. I left for the airport the next day without having a shower.
— There are lots of stairs but no lift. If there was a lift, I couldn't find it and there was non-one to show it to me. So, if you are elderly or have small children or sore knees, forget it.
— The room had a king size bed. The shower and toilet are two separate partitions that are on opposite sides of the room. Despite this, only one towel and hand towel were supplied — too bad if there is more than one person staying there.
— There was no complimentary water or availability, something that is essential for travelers.
— Proximity to restaurants is good.
Overall, a very average experience.
