Solitaire Roadhouse

Room. Towel had two huge holes in. Toilet mat was torn. Handbasin cold water tap broken. Shower cold water tap broken. One wall was cover with open cement patches. At 6am the aircon blasted ice and water on us.
Dinner. My hamburger arrived cold from the kitchen. The T bone that was ordered was sent back to the kitchen due to poor quality meat. Food presentage substandard. The waiters don't know to serve food over the right shoulder and remove the plate over the left shoulder. Steaks where served without a steak knife. When the one staff member was informed that the Tbonesteak was of a poor quality she just laughed and walked away.
Breakfast. The waiters did not inform the kitchen staff that certain food plates had to be replenished.
Our experience was that the staff had no support to guide them on how to address our complaints.

Rooms are clean and comfortable. We had an issue on check in where the shower drain was clogged but maintenance tried to fix it and moved us to a new room when they couldn’t solve it in time.
The location is convenient as it’s close to the restaurant, bakery and fuel station. We saw jackals and mongoose on the property.

Lovely stay. Lorenzo helped us with mountainbiking in the area which was really awesome! Further rooms are spacious and showers hot. Crazy beautiful sunset views also from field next to the restaurant.

Stayed at Solitaire Roadhouse and honestly it was really nice. Staff were super friendly, the rooms were spacious, and the outside area was amazing – such a chill and pretty spot to relax. Definitely a great stop on the road through Namibia.

A great stop for visit to the parks in the surrounding area. We stayed 2 nights. The pool and lounge area a great place to reflect on all you’ve seen and done the days before. Lots of ground squirrel in the area to watch. Sunset from camping area amazing. Staff super friendly. You can fill your car at gas station. They can fix your tires etc if needed. The store has many items for camping, and souvenirs. The bakery with the famous apple pie a jump across the parking lot and also do not miss it, it was delicious! Food at hotel restaurant excellent and service very good! An excellent experience all around!

Spotlessly clean, great facilities, super friendly staff, and a delicious breakfast to start the day right. An exceptional place right in the heart of the Namibian desert, full of charm and character.
Perfect for families with kids, plenty of space to relax and explore.
Highly recommend this little desert gem.

We always come here for the best apple cake in Namibia! Absolutely yummy and delicious. Can't comment on the rooms, though!

Camping sites are well maintained and positioned to give you full view of the sunset and beautiful surroundings.
Restaurant is well stocked for its location.
Has a fuel station, tyre repairs and bakery.

I went from Capetown to Walvis Bay and back in 5 days and 4 nights. I rented a Toyota pickup truck. The dunes in Sossusvlei are literally a Wonder of the World and even had me wishing I had learned something of Geology in my earlier years.
I stop for two nights in Solitaire, on the way to Sossusvlei, an hour drive, and on the way ouit. The Lodge is excellent, a great pool, impressive desert gardens around the pool and in front of all 25 rooms.

You can clearly tell that the people that created this place put a lot of love into it. The lady at the reception welcomes you with a big smile. The cactus garden, the pool area, the restaurant and the campgrounds are beyond amazing. This place had the best overall vibe during my trip. Highly recommended!

We stayed here in the campsite and really enjoyed our stay. Big sites with electricity, braai stand, covered areas to sit and water taps on site.

Very basic, no toiletries in the room or hairdryer. Beds ok for 2 nights. Food touch and go, had fish cakes but they were still cold in the middle, they were refried. Schnitzel ok but tough. Pool very small, but it is the desert! Lots of house rules, like cant eat own food in room or beer they charge corkage. Drive to sossusvlei 2hours!

A nice spot to spend a night or two in the middle of nowhere. It has everything you will need — a decent restaurant and bar, a well-stocked shop and even a bakery.
Campsite was clean and tidy, with access to the swimming pool, toilets and showers were well maintained.
Beautiful sunsets and some wild animals observed from the campsite — oryx, springbok, warthog and squirrels.

This lodge is at the service area, so next to the fuel station / garage / store at the junction at Solitaire. This is a simple, but nice location and a good road stop on your way from Windhoek to see the dunes. There is nothing super fancy here, but the rooms are clean, there is a/c, and the shower worked well. Given the remote location, this is a nice place to stop for the night. There are other options in the area that are a bit more up-scale with prices that match, so it is all about setting expectations. I would stay here again.

This review is regarding the camping facilities associated with the lodge.
— the campsites were wide, open sandy campsites (some with roofed / covered facilities)
-wildlife such as jackals, oryx and mongoose were spotted.
-toilet block was very dark at night.
-Good bar with great coffee with sofas and a large patio.
-nice for sundowners (likely the best sunset on our entire vacation)
-fast Wifi.
-there is a close store (gas station) with snacks, just a short walk outside the camp.
-there is also a watering hole just beyond the bar that attracted oryx during our visit.
-you are able to use the pool which has several loungers.
-the pool is very small.

This place is in the middle of nowhere on the desert and this makes it so special. I like that they are nearly self sufficient. They have a shop and bakery on site with very delicious strudels and other cakes with great coffee. There is restaurant and bar open long hours, petrol station and the garage If you have some issues with your car 🚗. The rooms are very big with air conditioning which works and en suite bathroom. There are no toiletries provided, only hand wash but it's no big problem. There is hot water in the shower and nice towels. Beds are comfy. There is a little swimming pool area but water in the swimming pool was very cold and only few brave had a swim. This place is amazing as well because you can experience incredible sun set and wildlife coming very closely like oryx, mangoose and birds. Food is very nice as well. I really recommend this place. For backpackers there are some spaces for tents or campers.

We stayed one night at the camping connected to Solitare Roadhouse Lodge. This was one of our favourite camping spots in Namibia. It was a lot cheaper than e. G Sesriem camp, as well as the facilities were much better. The sunset views were amazing as well as the sky full of stars.
You are allowed to enjoy the pool and there is also possibilities to eat at the local restaurant 😊 Can absolutely recommend spending one night if you are passing by!
