Tsauchab River Camp

Stayd for one night. Self camping in the BULL BULL camp ground with two cars. Plenty of space for the four of us The whole setup is unique. Quite amazing. It is wilderness camping with a twist. Staff was very friendly and helpfull. Had an amazing breakfast. It is a campground and a staff you dont want to miss.

Such a beautiful place…very well groomed, extremely tidy and clean.
The location is decorated with metal scraps, uniquely turned into art pieces is the absolute highlight.
The camping sites are very well equipped which made us feel very comfortable.
Unfortunately the food was a big big disappointment. Over priced, too tiny portions (only a garnish of salad instead of a greek salad) and not worth the money at all. It would be nice if they would work on that, as it really downgraded the whole experience.

Beautiful campsite. Friendly and helpful owners. Swimming pool at reception. To many things to mention. Our 2nd time there and will return.

This camp / lodge is well worth a visit! Very friendly reception and their staff looking after the camp sites well trained. Each day the site was cleaned, the donkey lit in the mornings and evenings and candles lit after sunset.
Each camp site is large enough to accommodate at least 6 people and is well off to the next site. The silence and quietness is sometimes freighting but rejuvenates you.
We did the 4x4 selfdrive, which I can only recommend. Some stunning views!
I will come back sometime, definetly!

This is a wonderful place to visit. It is extremely well run and maintained and is in a very beautiful area. The rivers were prone to flooding at night and so we could not camp at the very beautiful campsites in the Tsauchab river bed. Our campsite was about 8km from the lodge and when it got hot during the day then we had to drive to the lodge to cool down in the lovely pool. The lodge is beautiful and you could spend hours examining all the interesting things. The staff are super friendly and efficient. At our campsite the supervisor made sure we always had hot water and everything was very clean and tidy. It is a bit far to drive to Sossus Vlei from this lodge but if you don't mind the drive it is well worth the visit. There are nice hikes around the area and so you should not be bored.
There was no power at our campsite but I could charge my batteries at the lodge.
This is a highly recommended place to visit.

Service that is out of this world.
The owners and staff members absolutely went out of their way to make sure everything is perfect and that we have everything we need. The attention to detail is astonishing.
5 star hotel breakfast and dinner was served, with special attention to food allergies and also a special birthday breakfast for my dad when they overheard it was his birthday the previous day.
I highly recommend this place to solo travelers, friends, families, honeymooners and whichever category you fall in.
Bravo!

You can walk around for hours just appreciating the decor where scrap metal was reused to make all kinds of figures and shapes. It feels like going back in time with all the antique items displayed inside and outside the lodge. The Steyn family is welcoming and friendly. The entire area is manages so well, with such a warming 'at home' atmosphere. The hiking trails are beautiful, we only managed to do 2 but definitely planning to go back for the remaining trials. The food is fresh and delicious. Definitely worth visiting Tsauchab.

The staff has been amazing, Thanks for your kindness and helpfulness during our stay. The lodge is about 45minutes drive away from Sossusvlei entrance. The rooms/chalets are in a distance to the lodge, which gives you lot's of privacy, and have only 12 Volt power (meaning no charging of any equipment and no aircon). I'm the aircon girl but at night it cooled down nicely with a breeze going through the chalet. Charging was done at the main house, so no problem at all. The food eas lekker and the sourroundings stunning. Nice pathways to explore the area. The collection and artefacts at this place is stunning, better than any museum. The camp sites looked also nice.

This lodge with chalets and campsite is beautifully located between the Naukluft and Tsaris Mountains, in an empty, deserted landscape. It is a perfect place to rest and relax, and about a 1.5 hours drive to Sesriem. Staff was friendly, meals were really excellent. Our chalet was pleasant, clean and comfortable but our bed was relatively small. Most chalets are located near the Tsauchab Riverbed, implying that the view from these chalets is limited and not enabling to enjoy the stunning surrounding mountainous landscape. This is probably the closest lodge to the Namib Naukluft Park, where for those who like to hike the Olive Trail and the Waterkloof trial can be found. It is about 40 km from the lodge to the Olive trail, so according to local standards nearby! Please note that the D854 is not the most comfortable road in the country, but this adds to the charm of this place.

Great campsites and very friendly staff! A lot of hiking opportunities in the area!

My wife and I just got back and wow! We had the most amazing time. The location suited us down to the ground as we wanted to do alot of hiking. There are a number of brilliant hikes from the camp and lots of cool ones nearby. Johan and Nicky were both brilliant! The camp site was very secluded, big bonfires every night surrounded by nature. Highly recommended!
