Sunbirds Lodge Chobe

Beautiful lodge with all basic amenities and very clean. Beds are very comfortable and the sofa bed is a welcome bonus. Loved the shower gel smells divine. They have 2 pools and we enjoyed ourselves. They also organized our activities in a very professional manner. The breakfast is good too. Loved Loved the staff good people always willing to help and sang for us when we were leaving … sad but nice touch.

We had a lovely 4 night stay at Sunbirds.
They organised our transfer from Victoria falls, a sunset river cruise, a half a day safari and a visit to the crocodile farm which was a 5 minute walk away. Rooms were very comfortable. Deep mattress bed zzzzzz clean and tidy. Our breakfast was excellent and we dined every evening as well. Pool was a real bonus and relaxing.
Staff so friendly. Just a great place for a spring board into the national park.

We spent 4 days in this hotel/lodge. The service was exellent. Owner and staff were always helpful with booking activities, such as game drives and river cruises. Although, one does not have the view of the Chobe river from the smaller chalet… the big family chalet has view s of the river. Food is super delicious. Herbs and veggies mostly grown in their garden. Dinner price is soo reasonable with quality tasty food. Our dietary requirements were gladly fullfilled. Great experience overall. I will definately go back. Pool area with a big bar lounge. We brought our boardgames.

This lodge is quite different from other top-rated ones. It’s an excellent place for families with children and is run by a group of wonderful women who do an outstanding job of making guests feel welcome. Room are clean and spacious. Thank you for a very pleasant stay.

Stayed here two nights and had a wonderful time. Every member of staff was friendly and helpful and were happy to accommodate 4 of our party being vegetarian. Rooms are spacious and clean. They had a living area, double bedroom and shower/toilet. Our room opened directly onto the main pool area and only a few steps from the dining area. They were in the process of refurbishing the reception area but they did their best to minimise the effect of work noise. When we left, all the staff came out and sand a couple of goodbye songs. They were all wonderful people.

Spacious rooms in lovely garden setting. Very friendly staff who were very happy to help and organised several day trips for us including a safari into Chobe NP. If you are looking for a more authentic stay this fits the bill. Also Included an excellent breakfast.

If you want to experience real hospitality this is a place not to miss. Bwa is the most gracious and wise manager who leads by example every day: her daily responsibilies include cooking, washing up, supervising a building site in the hotel, managing operations, and managing a super friendly team of female staff many of whom have experienced prior traumatic experiences in their lives, as that is whom Bwa chooses to hire by design in her most wonderful Sunbirds Hotel. Yes, sunbirds do live in front of the windows in the bungalow where we were staying. Sunbirds is only 15 min from Chobe and Bwa works with a company of highly experienced and kind park rangers when booking your wildlife adventures. Our two families and all 7 of us could not recommend a place more than Bwa’s place, as out of the 5 hotels we stayed at during this trip and in our entire experience of traveling, to be honest, this is a place I can’t wait to return to once again. The food was so good, you can also order local food to be made on site.

From the minute we arrived at Sunbirds we were made extremely welcome and this continued throughout our stay. What a fabulous property with gorgeous gardens that attracted so many beautiful birds and butterflies. Loved our spacious room that opened out onto the pool area. What a wonderful haven to start our travels in Botswana. The hotel and grounds are immaculate and the staff so friendly and obliging and nothing was too much for them. We had fabulous meals during our stay and highly recommend this property if you visit Kasane.

From the minute we arrived until the minute we left, we were welcomed and treated like long-lost friends. What a fabulous property full of life everywhere you looked. Wonderful and comfortable rooms. The team were so helpful and friendly and could not do enough for us. Wonderful location and amazing food.

I stayed for 10 days or so in July/August 2023, but can't recall whether I noted my experience here. My phone just reminded me of the delightful stay with some photos I took then.

This was my second stay at Sunbirds. I highly recommend it. The chalet style accommodation is very spacious and well-fitted out. Everything works well. The gardens are beautiful and full of birds. The dinner and breakfast were excellent.
The Hotel is owned and managed by women, with a philosophy of emplying and developing women form the local community who have been subject to domestic violence or other disadvantage. This is an inspiring project and I wish the owner well in her exciting plans to expand and improve the hotel in the next year.

We had an amazing time at Sunbirds Hotel in Kasane! It's a beautiful place with spacious, comfortable rooms and a fantastic outdoor area offering various ways to relax.
We booked a day tour at the hotel to the Victoria Falls with a Helicopter Ride. Everything was taken care off and it was a wonderful experience.
At the hotel the food was always fresh and absolutely delicious. We especially appreciated how much attention was given to our dietary preferences – we even got veggie sausages!
The real highlight was the staff: everyone was always incredibly friendly, attentive, and helpful with anything we needed. We felt completely at home and would love to come back!

We were the only 2 guests and we couldn't use any of the swimming pools because they were doing some maintenance works. They served us breakfast in the staff area and we really had to beg for having normal facilities in our room like toilet paper and hair dryer. They didn't even clean our room.
But only change our towels. Maybe we were in low season and they didn't have other bookings but still if you decide to be open and have guests you need to provide the best service. Staff was unpolite too. The only positive thing was the short distance to reach Chobe Park.

We were very comfortable in our room, it had everything one would want.
The staff were lovely, but something was missing. We put it down to the lack hospitality management skills.
No reception area.
Basic breakfast. The kitchen could have been screened.
That said, I would still recommend it.

First of all, during the time of our stay some parts of the lodge were under construction. However, we did not feel many restrictions or annoying noises.
The staff was extremely friendly and service oriented. We felt all the time super comfortable. Rooms were clean and room-service was provided on a daily basis.
A well maintained and lovely garden made us feel even better and swimming in the pool was so nice.
Breakfast (6-9 a. M. ) was excellent (note: one could also order scrambled eggs or an omelette with bacon and beans). In case of an early leave e. G. For a game-drive, a take-away breakfast bag could be ordered alternatively.
In case we wanted to have dinner it had to be ordered by 2 p. M. The variety of dinner was limited but very tasty and of good quality. We had for instance once a fried river-fish (forgot the sort) and lasagne (both were excellent).
The lodge also offers a variety of decent wines (either entire bottle or by glass) but also Savanna Cider (😊), beer and soft drinks like Fanta and Coke.
The lodge-team also organised a 3h-river safari for us (group of 6) which was very interesting, professional and to a competitive price.
Note: It seems a minimum amount of 4 people is required if a longer than 3h river-safari is wished!
According to the team there will be a grand opening in spring 2025. We hope to be able to visit this lovely and cosy lodge again.

We had booked a 9 hours Chobe safari with Sunbirds hotel but the host (Boa) didn't informed us that a minimum of 4 people was required AND if not met you had to pay double the price as a couple. They only told us that at the end of our safari trip. The lady treated us to pay and even locked us up on the property so we would not leave before paying. She even called the Botswana police. For us we didn’t want a private safari, if we had known this before we would have booked with GetYourGuide or an other safari company in Kasane. So be aware if you want to book activities with the hotel to check the conditions before or to have something agreed written on paper! We would recommend to not book here but go to Kasane. There are a lot of good and honest organisations there that offer great safaris for cheaper prices :)

Our four night stay was super enjoyable. Large bedroom, bathroom and living room plus outdoor garden patio in its very private garden. (only few rooms have this feature) Staff and owner are warm, willing and more than helpful. The safari experiences on land and water which thy arranged were all well guided and on time. Wonderful outings. There are three separate small building areas and two pools. The breakfasts were excellent and you order what you want instead of a buffet. Other meals are not currently worthwhile so plan to eat dinner and/or lunch in town or have delivery. It is located only few minutes from Zimbabwe border crossing so this speeds up a day trip visit to Victoria Falls. I would certainly stay again.
