Sandpiper Villas Chobe

We stayed at this property while visiting the game parks at Chobe National Park. The rooms were spacious and seemingly well furnished however lacking in upkeep. We were in Room 16 and there were several petty issues — the bathroom light wasn’t working properly, the light fixtures in the living room were dangling, the water from the shower would spill over into the bathroom and bedroom, part of the cooking hob didn’t work and the Wi-Fi was terrible.
The person at the reception area was markedly indifferent during our arrival and didn’t provide any information regarding the property nor the amenities. He obviously is in need of training. The property was self service and they only provide two small bottles of drinking water and a limited number of tea bags on arrival, the rest was required to be purchased. Given the heat, the least they could have done was provide enough drinking water for the duration of one’s stay. The one saving grace was the breakfast where the server, Orribele, was warm and welcoming.

Great location, spacious and comfortable rooms with everything you need! Recommend staying in room 19, it has awesome river views.

We stayed at Sandpiper Villas for four nights and overall had a nice experience. The villas and the property were kept clean at all times. The staff were beyond amazing. Andrew, Todd, and O’Neill, as well as all the girls working in the restaurant, couldn’t have been more polite, helpful, and friendly. The team are a credit to this establishment. At all times, we felt safe, comfortable, and at home.
We did both a safari boat tour and a game drive with Andrew. He was amazing, so knowledgeable, and made a real effort to ensure we saw as many animals as possible. Both tours were incredible experiences. The resort also arranged other tourist activities for us and helped us organise transport to visit a local village.
The only reason I’m not giving this a higher rating is that there appears to be a serious issue with spider and insect control. The windows and doors in the lodge are not sealed, with visible gaps. While I understand that insects are inevitable in the bush, sealing the interior of guest lodges should be a basic standard. There are no mosquito nets provided. During our stay, we found at least six large spiders (possibly huntsman spiders, based on image identification) inside the lodge, which really took away from the experience and left me on edge throughout the stay.

We’ve spent there 2 nights to visit the Chobe National park.
Really recommended: rooms are big and clean and with their own kitchen and BBQ station fully equipped (there’s a grocery store next door but watch out cause they don’t sell alcohol and you’ll have to drive or get a taxi to town).
They’ve organised our activities and both the game drives and the river cruise were excellent, also a good price vs quality ratio.

It was bed and breakfast no information on where the restaurant is we had to figure it out yourselves.
No information on wi fi codes we had to use our data.
We communicated prior to our visit to br dropped at the airport but when the time came the receptionist was clueless and no arrangement was made. Only at last minute.
At the restaurant we waited for 10mins with no one on sight. The food was cold and the staff were just not interested.
We didn't feel welcome at all.

The place is a hidden gem with lots to offer. They worked with our busy touring schedule to accommodate for our needs. We had organised all of our tours through Sandpaper and we not disappoint with the result. Morning and afternoon game drives lead by Andrew who was full of knowledge and experience is a must. Breakfast was ready upon our return. Trip to Victorian Falls had great atmosphere.
Sandpaper offer lunch & dinner if organised in advanced. Otherwise Nandos and supermarket is at the entry into the resort approx 100m walk. A few facilities require updating but we were there to explore Kasane and in the short stay that we had a great experience. Definitely recommend.

An odd place, a very mixed experience. Comfortable, but oddly decorated and lots of corners cut with the finishing. Guided tours were wonderful — thanks Andrew — but otherwise the staff were generally difficult.

We had an interesting stay. Visiting from Australia everything couldn’t have been any more perfect with the waterfront self-containers apartment and the safari tours where we had the most incredible guide (Andrew) who couldn’t be faulted. The down-fall of this accommodation however was our last night where we were the only ones staying in the complex (perfect right!? ) Our group was cooking dinner on the coal bbq when things went rather weird…there were search lights scanning the waters edge and flares getting fired to light up the river. Which we thought was strange. Initially we thought they were hunting animals in a very touristy spot!. At 1AM in the morning we were woken to the most horrific situation of AK47s being fired which we later found were straight into the side of our villa (with bullet holes left). The after hours reception / security number was non-responsive (and I still haven’t had a response to the messages around all the gun fire). We were all absolutely terrified and learnt the next day that there had been a border-crosser from Namibia whom had come to rob the place and had cut the fence and electric wires and had thankfully been detected by bored patrol / the police who we were told were the ones that opened fire (we are still questioning the accuracy of the shots! ). We genuinely had the most amazing experience with our first visit to Africa…but the last night absolutely killed it and left us terrified.

Sandpiper Villas, Chobe is a great place to stay for those who like the accessibility to Chobe National Park, airport, and small shopping center that has Nandos Restaurant, Bank of Gabarone (where you can exchange money), shop rite (for groceries) and TLou tours. The lodge shares an entrance with TLou Lodge.
We stayed for 4 nights at a 2 bedroom villa with nice river views and are equipped with a ref, utensils, and grill for cooking. The rooms are well maintained and cleaned daily. The bathroom has a rain shower, and the bed is comfortable. There's also a safe in the main room, but ours wasn't working. We have daily breakfast, which is ample and delicious.
We were picked up and dropped off from the airport, which is a complimentary service provided by the hotel. The driver is Andrew, who met us at the airport, who does everything from game drives and river cruises. Andrew provided us with excellent service. He's truly a workhorse and an asset to this establishment. The front desk comprises Dintle, Oneill, and Todd, the manager, who is always ready to help. Housekeeping ladies like Flora, Sego, and the rest kept our rooms cleaned daily. They also do laundry for BWP 100 for 1 bag. The Boma staff where we have breakfast daily are equally fantastic, always serving us with a smile. Namely, Chef Gee and Joyce, and Oarabile.
To everyone, at Sandpiper Villas, a great big thank you! You are all awesome and made our vacation memorable and unforgettable.

Spacious rooms and very nice bathrooms. The restaurant was good for breakfast and dinner, when planned ahead. There is no bar, but you can bring in your own beer and wine. Close to a shopping center including grocery store and fast food.

Absoutely fantastic Stay. Second time we have stayed there in three months,
Rooms are so spacious and clean. Staff are just wonderful and so flexible and friendly.
Definately our happy place and home from home and will be back!

A have an Amazing Stay the room was great very close to the supermarket, our guide joe was great we took the game drive and the boat ride. The hotel help Us to take a trip to Victoria falls.
The breakfast and the dinner was really good.
The sounds of the birds in the morning everything was great. The Wi-Fi was great too.

We upgraded to the riverfront apartment and it was amazing, two rooms, two bathrooms, kitchen, living room and amazing balcony, we had a lovely 2 night stay. Rooms were serviced daily and staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast which was included was fine and we walked to the local supermarket to get supplies for lunch and dinner. Aircon and fans were great. If you are being picked up by a different safari company early in the morning you may wish to check with reception the night before as we had issues getting out of the property on our second morning when this property was not doing an early morning safari apart from that no issues and would stay again.

Nice place, in town but on the river. Food is good, facilities are clean. No bar but they have a restaurant. We did a river cruise and morning game drive. Game drive was good but rushed compared to all the other drives we had done. Close to grocery stores and other places. We flew into Victoria Falls and had to cross the border. That’s an experience in itself.

I cancelled my reservation almost 3 months ago, well within the free cancellation period, and I have yet to receive my refund. I have written several emails and got no reply. I even went there in person (I was staying nearby), was promised resolution, but nothing has happened and they continue to ignore my emails. Extremely unprofessional.

Yes for privacy and the design is best villas and very modern clean ones, the breakfast buffet is good and very simple, but good quality of food, the management is the best experience how they treat the guests and much caring of their needs, just I suggest to them hiring shuttle bus, because the transportation is less in villas surrounding area. For sure I recommend this place for family and privacy.

Spacious, modern appartments overlooking the river. Helpful staff and decent breakfast included. Pros and cons about the location: it’s quite far from the city centre so you can’t walk to the restaurants or tourist shops, but on the other hand there’s a Spar, a Nando’s and a petrol station just around the corner. And the surroundings are peaceful and beautiful with lots of wildlife: we heard the hippos from our veranda, and saw lots of birds, bushbabies and several different antilopes. Ask for Villa no 17 or 19 for the best views. Only thing that could have been better is that being a family of five it was a bit unpractical that everything was fitted for four people (like only four chairs).
