We spent our honeymoon travelling through Namibia, Zimbabwe, and Mozambique. In one month, we were incredibly lucky to spend two nights at Nambwa Tented Lodge, and it was by far the best place we visited!
The lodge is absolutely magical. The tents are raised high in the trees, making you feel completely part of the surrounding nature. At night you can hear (and sometimes see) hippos grazing around and right in front of the tents, an unforgettable experience.
The tent itself is fantastic, spacious, and has everything you could possibly need. Everything at the lodge is very well maintained and of high quality. In the evenings, the fireplace creates such a warm and cozy atmosphere that you simply don’t want to leave.
The food was extremely good: every single meal was incredibly tasty and impeccable. Each dish felt like a truly excellent culinary experience!
But what truly stood out was the staff. Everyone was amazing, always smiling, super friendly, and genuinely caring. The manager, Gregory, went above and beyond. He organised a special surprise for our honeymoon that was by far the best surprise we have ever received (nothing like the simple gestures at other lodges). The entire hotel team was involved, and we really appreciated the thought and effort they put into it, it made our stay even more unforgettable. He also put together what was easily the best itinerary of our entire trip.
Our guide Eustace was outstanding as well.
I came to Nambwa as part of Billy at Travel House Africa’s multi stop tour. Now, I have been to many many lodges in many many game reserves, and this place is truly magic — a green island with tree houses and walkways in the middle of the most fantastic wetland, full of various buck, elephants, giraffes, birds, baboons, elephants and hippos galore! A baby hippo was born right outside our tent. The staff at this lodge are lovely lovely lovely, and the Sijwa community development project supported by the lodge is inspiring. Recommended 100%.

Nambwa offers a spectacular "middle-of-the-wilderness" feeling, with luxury safari tents built entirely on elevated wooden walkways and stilts in the tree canopy. Because the whole camp is elevated, you can move around freely and safely while wild animals pass underneath. The tents are beautifully designed, spacious, and spotlessly clean. At night, the sounds of the bush are incredibly loud and intense—we had elephants and hippos grunting and feeding literally next to and underneath our tent. The food is very good, and both the boat cruises and game drives were excellent, offering massive amounts of wildlife sightings.
Our Navigation Warning: Getting here is a serious 4x4 adventure—and whatever you do, do not trust Google Maps! The entrance is via the Susclova Ranger Station (Bwabwata National Park), where you pay your park entry fee per night, person, and vehicle. Drop your tire pressure right there and get ready for deep sand and proper off-roading. Keep your vehicle in H4 (only use L2 if you actually get stuck). The local tracks can be confusing, and we actually managed to get lost, turning our arrival into our own unexpected, private game drive before finally hitting the lodge!
