Fish River Lodge

What a dream! Everything was perfect : the place and its amazing view, the thoughtful team, the activities in the canyon… they even repaired our flat tyre before we left. We loved it and highly recommend it.

We spent 2 nights here and wish we could have stayed longer. The location of this lodge is really something special and the views spectacular. The lodge itself is beautiful as are the rooms. We had some amazing dinners and the staff were all incredibly friendly — nothing was too much for them — this trip was for my dads 60th birthday and they kindly made him a fantastic cake and sang to him.
We did the 1 day hike into the canyon with Justice and are so glad we did this. While there are definitely some challenging bits and parts with no path and scrambling down / up rocks we would do it again! The views from being in the canyon were even more spectacular than above.

The facilities and hospitality at the lodge could not be faulted. It is a superb example of location, harmony with the environment and opportunities to explore.
With Dion as our guide, we hiked down “Jelly Legs” into the canyon itself, learning about geology, flora and fauna of the region. For the next 2 days and nights, we traversed the canyon and slept in stunning permanent camps on the canyon’s rim. Sunsets, 3-course dinners and warm showers at each camp were. Unforgettable.
I recommend a 4-night block of time: Day 1 to arrive and prepare, Days 2 and 3 to hike and stay at the camps. Day 4 return to the lodge and enjoy the luxury.

We loved everything about the lodge. Stunning views, breathtaking location. It felt very special to stay here. Fabulous to be able to go down to the bottom of the canyon. The light changed every minute making the outlook special. Staff were so friendly and couldn’t do enough. It was very cold when we were there so be prepared for wrapping up warm.

We stayed 2 nights at this stunning canyon-edge location. The drive here from Aus crosses a river bed multiple times, but take it easy and it's fine. We had a standard room, which was spacious and high-ceilinged, with inside and outside shower, and balcony. Wifi is only in the main building, and you have to ask for a log-in code every time. The "infinity" pool was too covered in mosquitoes to risk! The food is excellent. We did an all-day canyon drive to a swimming hole; the driver was very skilled with 4WD, as the road is very steep and rocky. We dismounted for a down-hill walk at one point, and had a lovely viewpoint above the snaking river. An amazing barbecue lunch was served to us at the swimming hole, even with chilled wine!

Fish River Lodge is the most magical and exquisite place I’ve ever stayed—cradled in one of the most remote, breathtaking, and soul-stirringly beautiful landscapes on Earth. The cuisine and service are exceptional: impeccable, heartfelt, and authentic. The accommodations are so comfortable, I slept better and longer than I have in years. To stay at the edge of the vast, surreal canyon held by nature and cared for by the extraordinary staff is transformational.

The staff, food, views, friendliness of staff, and the lodge grounds were absolutely spectacular. Such stunning views from the lodge. We were literally on the edge! So incredible. The breakfast had great selections, and dinner was on another level. I am glad to have met a couple on the sunset tour. They were so fun and friendly, and at dinner they demanded I sit with them. We had such a fantastic conversation about everything including politics, travel, and money. I am so glad I stayed here and reacquainted with people I met earlier on my trip!

I enjoyed my stay here. Let's be honest. I don't go to a place like this for the accommodation and food — I go for the scenery and location. I only need a place to shower, sleep and eat. Having stated this, this lodge far exceeded my needs as well as expectations. My cabin was spacious, clean, comfortable, quiet and ohh — the view! The staff was very friendly, efficient, and competent. I found the food excellent. The main lodge is very comfortable a a great place to socialize with my fellow travelers.

We recently stayed here for two nights.
Beautiful lodge at the top of the canyon with very cozy interior in the rooms and at main building. Familiar atmosphere and nice and attentive stuff as well. Breakfast and dinner are incredibly good.

Having a GPS Garmin is almost required to find the place although, once on the route you will find it OK. The place is quite amazing really. It is built with ecology in mind as the lodges are not fancy nor heated. Nights get a bit cool there so a nice hot morning shower is great! Food was a short walk to the lodge and very good. The people/wait staff were wonderful! We took the drive down into Fish Canyon, second largest on earth, and loved it! We saw wildlife, zebra and ostrich among others. Saw elephant tracks as well. Really great time although too short.

Not sure how anybody can rate this less than 5 stars. Spectacular hotel perched on the rim of the canyon. Beautiful views during meals and from bed. Nice hikes along rim from hotel. Very good service — catered to allergies without issue.

The property is right at the rim of fish river canyon with amazing views from the main building as well as the rooms. The kitchen was very accommodating. All the staff were extremely friendly, from reception, to wait staff and guides. We enjoyed the sundowner drive with drinks and snacks and had a great time overall.

The hotel was beautifully decorated with a stunning pool view on the Canyon. The independent, spacious villas had outdoor showers and offered breathtaking views of the canyon. However, 5 out of the 6 family members suffered from severe food poisoning after dinner, supposedly from the meat. For an establishment of this caliber, this is truly unacceptable.

Stunning. Breath taking views. Really comfortable rooms with everything you need. The canyon day hike was tough but a nice lunch in the middle. You can also do some self guided walks along the edge of the canyon. Food and service were first class. Definitely worth the long drive for the experience and hospitality.

This is an amazing place with an even more amazing view of Fish Canyon.
It is a long drive to get there and you definitely need a 4 wheel drive vehicle but it was worth it.
When we arrived at the lodge and saw the view I wondered why we had only booked two nights.
We did a sun downer drive not long after arriving and had a view down into the canyon.
The meals were wonderful and varied. They will take care of varied dietary needs.
The next day we took the drive down into the canyon. It was an adventure and highly recommended. Our guides fixed an amazing lunch at the bottom.
The chalets were lovely with a view of the canyon. It was quite warm during the day but cool at night and the ventilation of the chalets was excellent.
Wish we had booked a longer stay but this spot is on our list when we return to Namibia.
