Thitaw II

A peaceful and budget-friendly stay in Kalaw. Thittawlay House is quiet, surrounded by trees near Mine Lone Hill, with only natural sounds like birds and insects. It offers simple meals and basic but clean amenities. I especially enjoyed the misty mornings and gentle rain—it felt calm and refreshing. Next time, if I have a chance to come to Kalaw, I’ll definitely stay there again.

A peaceful atmosphere, surrounded by natural beauty and Mine Lone Hill. The Cabins are one of the greatest I have ever experienced. Excellent room services and heartwarming staffs helped me everything I wanted. Breakfast is so special that I want to eat their delicious Pancakes everyday. 🤤

I enjoy my one-month stay there and the friendliness there very well. One of the greatest locations to experience Kalaw's true spirit. Their cabin is like an undiscovered treasure in Kalaw. The electricity is still on when the downtown is without power, and there is a cold, lovely garden right next to Mine Lone Hill with all the seasonal flowers growing there in a variety of colors and scents. Rare birds also live nearby, and occasionally you can see them while sitting in the garden. Residents are always willing to help with anything, including making reservations for a car, bike, or while staying. Breakfast is great since there are so many options. They have amazing jams with strawberries/ peaches/raspberries,  homemade pancakes and banana bread.

Update April 2023:
I still think this is one of the most charming places in Kalaw with nice and ever-helpful staff, but the recent experience with the owner (who takes the bookings but is rarely at the place) make me not stay there again. The off-putting attitude towards her guests and unprofessional customer service — mixing dates of arrival, taking a new booking over an earlier-made confirmed booking — and the overall lack of care for guests as well as the inability to come up with a compromise to solve a problem to a customer's satisfaction are something that I would not expect and should not happen in the tourism industry.

Set in a beautiful garden, there are bungalows as well as rooms in a brick house. Affordable, including breakfast (homemade bread & jam, rice, coffee&tea, fruit…), with helpful staff and working electricity and internet (extraordinary these days), this place is a little hidden paradise in Kalaw! Hot shower is most welcome during the cold mornings and while the equipment is quite simple, it's locally designed and offers everything one needs. It's definitely worth staying and supporting the local families working here.
