Hotel Aurora

Excellent budget hotel in a quiet road off 26th Street and surrounding Zeigo market area.
Very hospitable and attentive staff, and the morning breakfast buffet is delicious!
They'll also arrange transport for you in the lobby.
Very good!

The staff is nice, the room is ok, AV is cold, bicycles are available for free, motorbikes are available for rental.
However the bed is HARD, harder than a futon on the floor. The location also isn't that great.

After not being too thrilled by the hotel I had originally booked, I ended up at Aurora by mere chance. One of fate's unexpected gifts 💖. The Aurora is shipshape: very clean, safe, friendly and located centrally in Mandalay. You can choose from a variety of options for breakfast; always freshly prepared and tasty. The staff was a treat, all of them very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Above all Ko Ko at the reception, who is whipsmart, kind, speaks very good English and helped me with a complex project. I would have been lost without her (thank you Ko Ko! ). The owner is a very interesting man, very kind and a great person to talk to. One of my favourite hotels in Myanmar.

This is definitely the best Travellers choice in Mandalay why?
1) quiet convenient area near a beautiful temple I have posted a picture of the temple which you can view nicely from the hotels rooftop restaurant and just 2km from the Jade market.
2) Rooms are very new and modern with quality tiling 24 hour electricity Wi-Fi solar hot water flat screen TV fridge and most importantly very clean high quality bedding.
3) lots of free things free welcome drink free bicycles no need to pay tea coffee water electric kettle weighing scale great towels free spa soap and shampoos.
4) Very polite, helpful and courteous staff without any agendas it is a non political hotel and does not espouse any type of politics, scare-mongering or propaganda on its guests.
5) We all live in a strange world, you can easily pay a high price and get a terrible hotel yet this place is so so good and yet incredibly cheap.
The hotel also offers a nice simple Burmese style buffet or a la carte breakfast for just a dollar.

The hotel is nice for a budget hotel.   The staff was friendly and spoke excellent English.   They helped us figure out where to go and arranged a taxi for a full-day private tour around the region.   The room was rather basic with a somewhat hard bed. The bathroom featured a wet shower.   Breakfast was about what you expect for a budget hotel.   Given the hotel’s price, friendly staff, location and other available options, we would suggest this hotel to others.

Can view sunrise and sunset on the top floor which is the dining area.

For a budget hotel this was a very comfortable stay.
The front desk were always more than helpful whenever you had any questions.
Breakfast was good, fresh-made eggs any way and good food for dinner as well. The rooftop bar/restaurant is a nice place to relax after a long day sightseeing.
The room fine and the bed was more comfortable than some beds in the region.

We stayed in Hotel Aurora for 3 nights. We arrived by boat from Bagan and it was a short 10 minute taxi ride to the hotel from the jetty. The check in staff were super friendly and spoke great English. We needed to get bus tickets to Kalaw and they booked them for us straight away, we paid for them together with our room which was very convenient. We had the room 208. It was perfectly adequate for a short stay, I would have liked something bigger if I was staying longer as there wasn't much space to unpack. The bed was on the hard side but we personally like it that way so worked for us. The bathroom had a lovely rain shower and was a wet room. The restaurant is on the 4th floor and is a partially covered terrace. The breakfast was nice, similar to other budget hotels in Myanmar, mostly Asian options, egg station, toast, jam, fruit etc. Coffee could do with an upgrade and be hotter but I wasn't expecting it to be amazing judging by other places in Myanmar. We also had lunch and dinner there and both meals were tasty and ok price wise. We had one day to see the main sights and the hotel suggested the best way of doing this — hiring a taxi for the day. It was a very good value suggestion, £27 for the whole day. The driver didn't speak a huge amount of English, just pointed out what the attraction was and how much time we had which worked fine for us. The hotel also got a taxi to take us to the bus station on our last day.

My girlfriend and I only got to stay here for one night during our travels but the hotel has been great. The room was decent for the price and the breakfast was good but the stand out thing about this place was the staff, they are so friendly and helpful and helped us plan out travel destinations as well as booking stuff for us. Not only that they let us leave our bags there during the day and when we came back to pick them up allowed us to use the shower to freshen up before our next leg of travelling. Highly recommended!

Really great little hotel. Clean white bedding, clean modern wet room, safe, friendly helpful staff and nice roof top restaurant. Really pleased we booked this hotel (twice for both stays in Mandalay), very good price too. The staff arrange our site seeing tour with a taxi driver for the whole day, plus our journey to the airport, nothing was too much trouble. The food in the restaurant was good in the evening, although a little hit and miss at breakfast (little things like running out of food and having to wait some time for the replacement meaning the rest of your breakfast is cold, oh and not heating baked beans, I don't think they realise they should be hot, but never mind).
I would definitely stay here again great little place.
Nice free cocktail each night too, nice little touch.

We enjoyed 2 nights of excellent service at Hotel Aurora. The staff were extremely attentive, friendly and helpful throughout the hotel with great English language skills. The rooms are small but clean and well air conditioned. Each breakfast was a huge spread of both local and continental options, all delicious. Served in an open air terrace on the top floor, it was a great and hearty way to start the day. In the evenings the area turns into a lounge and with open views of the city, it was a nice place to cool off with a drink before heading out for dinner. Although we did not eat at the lounge, the food served to others looked fantastic. The hotel is centrally located and within walking distance to the Mandalay Moat. I would recommend a stay to others without hesitation, especially if you are looking for customer service that goes above and beyond!

This hotel was amazing. Starting with the unbelievably kind and helpful staff with excellent English. The hospitality Is at a 5 star hotel level. The breakfast was also delicious and plentiful. The views from the rooftop are amazing and security is excellent. This was also my only hotel room in all of Myanmar where I did not have a single insect anywhere in my room. I stayed at a 4 star hotel the previous night for 3x the price but my stay here was so much better. Amazing value for the stay. Will definitely stay here again when I am back in Mandalay.

Breakfast was good with a nice view of the pagoda nearby. The restaurant is situated on the rooftop with a nice view of sunset and sunrise.
We recommend this hotel for anyone who would like to visit Mandalay. Good value for money!
