Gold Leaf Hotel

Good hotel amongst the local hotels available in Mandalay. Rooms are quite good. Breakfast is not so good due to variety and taste. Due to renovation, there were a few breakdown including internet. No proper car parking available also. Hope this place will become better after renovation is done.

Pros:
— Central location, fairly easy to spot from afar for when you're taking a taxi or scooter.
— Clean surroundings (room, lobby, corridor carpet etc)
— powerful hot water in the bathroom.
— Nice rooftop bar with delicious Mandalay rum sour.
— Decent sized room with a safe, and key card access (also needed for lift access)
— cool little touches like dimmable lights next to your bed.
— Reasonably priced.
— Aircon in the room seems to be on when you come back in the evening, so you return to a cool room.
— Service staff try their best to please. They happily obliged with more bottles of water each day, and always held the lift where possible.
— Delicious Mandalay rum sours for 2500K at their rooftop bar, which has a nice view at the 11th floor of the surrounding town.
Cons:
— Some parts of the room appear unfinished (e. G. Piping points not covered, wood paneling exposed etc)
— Staff speak just a little English.
— Wi-Fi was a bit spotty initially, but the staff resolved this by sending down their IT guy.
— The kettle wasn't working, but I borrowed one in an adjacent vacant room.
— We were initially offered a room whose window literally faced a wall. Luckily they offered us one that actually faced town! It appears there is construction right next to this building, and possibly all rooms on the left of the hotel would have views fully obscured?
— only one lift works of the two, sometimes you've to wait a short while for the lift to arrive.
