Massinga Beach

Spent 3 glorious days at Massinga Beach Lodge in September 2024. The cabins were great, clean, the staff was wonderful, very professional and courteous.

The lodge was delightful! A real gem and just like advertised. Our unit was super comfy and spacious with stunning views of the ocean! The staff were incredible and so attentive. Every possible detail was managed under the watchful eyes of Barry and Vern. Food was tasty, so well presented and diverse. We did two excursions, one to fingers which had great snorkelling. And also an outing to pansy beach which included a boat trip through the mangroves, estuaries and out ot the island. A lovely experience all round and so worth a visit. Remote and peaceful!

If you enjoy endless pristine beaches, top notch service and excellent food — then this is the choice for you. Restaurant, pools, beach bar, wonderful lodges with stunning views and various activities and excursions available — strongly recommended!

What a hidden gem, a pristine paradise — a dream beach that stretches endlessly in the horizon, top notch beach bar with large pool, reception area with everything you need and comfortable lodges. Food is the best and the people even better.

From the moment we arrived at Vilancoulos Airport, our experience at Massinga Beach Lodge was nothing short of magical. We were warmly welcomed by our driver, who greeted us with ice-cold beers, refreshing water, and freshly baked muffins—an incredible start to our journey!
The scenic three-hour drive to the lodge only heightened our excitement. Upon arrival, we were greeted with delightful fresh coconut drinks, setting the tone for our stay.
The culinary experience at the lodge was out of this world! Each meal—breakfast, lunch, and dinner—was a feast for the senses, beautifully prepared and bursting with freshness. Dinners were exceptional four-course meals that left us in awe every night. We looked forward to each meal, relishing the flavors and creativity of the dishes.
Our room was a sanctuary of comfort and elegance. Every morning, while we enjoyed breakfast, our room was lovingly cleaned, ensuring we returned to a pristine space. We were pleasantly surprised to find a charming turn-down service each evening. One night, we returned to an enchanting romantic setup with rose petals, a warm bubble bath, champagne, and chocolates—a truly unforgettable touch!
The view from our private deck, complete with a plunge pool, was breathtaking. We spent countless hours soaking in the beauty surrounding us, feeling like we were in our own paradise.
What truly made our stay extraordinary was the incredible staff. Their dedication and teamwork were evident in every detail.

What an awesome Honeymoon EXPERINCE! Words and pictures can't describe the food, Rooms and amazing friendly staff/ hosts. Already planning our next trip to them. If you want an relaxing experience sipping on cocktails this is the place to be. Definitely gained weight with the amazing food!

Our honeymoon at Massinga Beach Lodge was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with open arms by the incredibly warm and hospitable hosts, Barry and Vern. Their personal attention to every guest made our stay not only comfortable but truly memorable.
The lodge itself is a haven of tranquility, with clean and pristine rooms that offer breathtaking views of the azure ocean. Each meal was a culinary delight, showcasing a fusion of local flavors with a modern twist. Dining at Massinga Beach Lodge is truly an experience in itself.
One of the highlights of our stay was the unforgettable Massinga Town Tour with Jaquim, which offered us a glimpse into the rich culture and history of the area. His efforts included stopping at villages where locals farmed peanuts and tasting the rich cashews grown in the area. We were also amazed to witness how they built their houses from scratch, making bricks by hand. Jaquim's eloquence and translation skills ensured that we could fully appreciate and understand every aspect of the tour.
What truly set Massinga Beach Lodge apart was the extra effort they put in for honeymoon couples. From private dining experiences to room turndown services and special nights adorned with roses and champagne, every moment felt like a fairy tale. The private beach picnic in the secluded rock cave formation was also a divine experience that we'll cherish forever.

I was fortunate enough to be invited by a friend to visit Massinga beach lodge and it was absolutely amazing from the hosts to the super friendly staff, beautiful wooden chalets and views views views. We spent 5 nights there and I have to say it was like being on a remote island away from all the stresses of life eating wonderful food and drinking local beers. I also have to compliment Mozambique Travel for organizing our trip we could not have been looked after better.

Great views, palms trees just a beautiful serene view. Chose Massinga for my birthday celebration and the staff very thoughtful, surprised bubble bath was a cherry on top. Go there if you need time off to unwind and relax. 💚

Five stars for a five star experience!
The rooms are surprisingly massive with sea view, upon sea view, upon sea view! The little deck pool is a nice luxurious touch! The cleaning service did an excellent job each day ensuring that our room was always spotless, and our kitchenette restocked!
Service — We were the last of the guests at the lodge before they closed for February.
Off-season maintenance. My husband and I enjoyed "exclusive use" of the entire lodge 🤪, quiet as it was, we never felt alone as the hosts and staff were extremely friendly and spoilt us at every turn.
Location — the lodge is perched high upon a hill overlooking the mighty Indian ocean (did I mention the heavenly views?! ). There was a bit of a drive to get up there, but it was part and parcel of the rural Mozambican experience. It was an eye opener for a suburban girl and I considered myself schooled by the time the drive ended. The beach area below is beautiful and almost untouched (full of surprises too)!
The food — was delicious, I specifically looked forward to the soup starters and freshly baked breakfast treats every day 😋
Massages on the room deck was the cherry on the top! Highly recommend, especially for couples looking for a place to unwind.

I cant comment on the rooms, as I didn't see them. But if I judge it by the service and the quality of the lodge overall, I am sure they are amazing too! The views are incredible and the food was first class!

I consider the travel to my holiday destinations as part of the vacation experience so the 2.5 hour drive was not a problem as posted on a previous review but an experience to be embraced. During our stay all of the 35 guests were effusive in complimenting the Massinga Beach Lodge staff, the location, the pristine beaches, the rooms, the views and especially the cuisine. Massinga Beach is a hidden gem suitable for honeymooners, families or older couples (me! ) looking for a holiday at an unforgettable location that will create a lasting memory. Well done to the Massinga Beach Lodge team 👏

Wow we really had no expectations but what a Beautiful place, I would call it Paradise, a Gem 💎. I have travelled to many places but Massinga was beyond my expectations. The staff were excellent and the chef was so accommodating to the vegetarians. The veggies burger 🍔 is a must. Thank you Rachel, Joaquin, Augustine and Nelson.

We chose Massinga beach for our honeymoon and I'm sure it was the best choice, from our arrival to the day of departure the staff was very helpful. The view from the hotel room is wonderful, the sunrise is even more incredible. The food is quite good and the service is 5 stars.

Beautiful lodge, huge rooms, excellent views and very friendly staff. At the time when we were in Massinga Beach Lodge, there were only 3 other guests, so we could really enjoy the beautiful nature, the beach, the pools and the hospitality. We saw the whales from our terrace every morning!

Amazing place, great food and the most important, awesome staff! Ian and all team were tireless! They even made some snacks for the return trip. Will definitely come back and recommend Massinga beach lodge.
