Villa Santorini

I have been travelling Africa for the past 26 years it is the place where I find my most authentic self.
From where strength is born and where I feel at home. I found home.
As a family we have enjoyed the most amazing safaris and after need to relax so head to our favourite place in Africa Mozambique.
From Johannesburg we fly to Vilanculos and then onto one of its many lodges.
This time we decided to stay on Benguerra island and from there flew by helicopter to a beautiful hotel called Santorini. If going straight from Johannesburg to Vilanculos you can then have a short road trip to hotel.
As we flew near, I understood why it had this name, one of the meanings of Santorini is The Most Beautiful.
It truly was.
Stunning whitewashed Villas and so like the design of the buildings in Greece.
Something lovely found by chance through meeting its wonderful owners Vanessa and Graham who had a dream a vision and have made it come true.
This is more than 5 Star this was made from Passion and Love and shows.
This is outside of the norm.
Our room had breath taking views, the food was amazing all brought in fresh from the fishermen daily.
The staff could not have been more attentive, it was clean in fact immaculate.
Just idyllic.
There is also a rooftop Bar where you can at the end the day watch the sun go down chat to guests and have a cocktail or two.
Too many activities to mention from Paddle boarding to Boat trip Big Game fishing community trips and fabulous Spa there are many.

I can't say enough great things about our stay at Santorini Mozambique. We came here at the end of our 2 week South Africa//Mozambique honeymoon, and it was the perfect place to wind down before returning home to the US.
The Staff, the accommodations, and service, and the location were top notch. I've already told many people that they NEED to visit! Thank you Santorini Mozambique — especially Sergio — for an incredible stay!

This place is really something special, and it’s entirely because of the people.
From the moment we arrived (by helicopter, landing right on the property — pretty amazing), it felt clear this wasn’t going to be a typical hotel stay. Everything here feels easy, personal, and genuinely warm.
Heidi, the owner, is very hands-on in the best possible way. She somehow seems to know what you want before you even ask. Plans for spa time, boat trips, and daily activities were often mentioned casually and then just… handled. Nothing ever felt scheduled or forced, which made the whole experience feel relaxed and natural.
We were lucky enough to have Simon as our dedicated waiter, and he was fantastic. Always nearby, always kind, and never hovering. He made every meal feel effortless and comfortable, and honestly became part of the reason the stay felt so enjoyable.
The property itself is small and intimate — just a handful of rooms and a few villas — so it’s quiet and peaceful, and you never feel like you’re sharing the space with a crowd. It feels more like staying in a beautiful private home than a hotel.
Meals were a highlight. Every day we ate in a different spot — garden, pool, deck, dining room — which kept things fun and fresh. The beach setup was also great: cabanas, games, paddleboards, kayaks, big towels, cold drinks brought down for us. Everything you’d want, without having to ask.

Can't think of a more perfect place to have ended our honeymoon! Santorini Mozambique was in a beautiful location, artfully decorated — updated and luxurious in an understated way, and impeccably well run. We were really able to relax and focus on experiencing Mozambique while there. The entire staff went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our stay and even changed around the itinerary to accommodate weather / new requests. Special shoutouts to Samantha, Simon, and the culinary team as they all made us feel so special. Do not miss: helicopter transfer to/from the property, lunch in the garden, Dugong sightings off Bazaruto, and yoga with a view!

Santorini Mozambique is a truly magical place. We just returned from our African honeymoon adventure. After being on safari, we spent the last portion of our trip at Santorini as a place to unwind and recharge before returning to the real world. It did not disappoint.
From the moment we arrived, the exceptional Santorini staff made our stay fantastic. Samantha and her team seem to have a sixth sense of where we would be and what we would need without ever seeming obtrusive. They anticipate every single request and desire.
We stayed in The Chapel, and it was paradise. It is a physically magnificent villa with the most breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean. Since it was our honeymoon, we chose to take all of our meals privately in the villa. Abel, our personal (butler, concierge, caretaker, etc. ) was the BEST! He took such great care of us the entire time. The personal chef (s) worked their magic behind the scenes, cooking us one delicious meal after another. One night, we requested pizza, and they brought the pizza oven right to our Villa!
Nela in the spa pampered us with the most decadent massages. I had the Santorini Signature massage and then went back for an African Scalp massage the next day. Just dreamy!
We had a day of perfection going out on the private catamaran with the guys. We saw the endangered Dugong and several dolphins. The private dune lunch they set up for us was amazing!
