A huge thank you to Elena, Fabio, Chelsie, Reaz + everybody else at asDunas for making our 7 night stay truly memorable. We stayed in the relatively newly constructed Suite 9 (the Iconic Suite) — it is exceptionally spacious both indoors and outdoors, the decor is tasteful to the extreme and the attention to detail could not be surpassed. The predominately locally sourced food is first rate with the highlight being a five course dinner served each evening. Each dish is beautifully presented with the Italian / Mozambique fusion being a winning formula. The vibe at asDunas is laid back but everything operates seamlessly and smoothly. The fully inclusive concept is tremendous which includes a daily massage. AsDunas is situated above a soft white sand, empty and endless beach. Elena and Fabio are obviously very proud (and so they should be! ) of asDunas and the enthusiasm of Chelsie and Reaz (the managers) is unparalleled. To sum up — what a fantastic choice we made!

If ever I went to heaven I would send St. Peter and his angels back down to see how paradise really works.
Helena and Fabio have truly created heaven on earth. Refined luxury, outstanding cuisine and exquisite wines at an unbelievable location.

A proper wow moment arriving at AsDunas …. After the closure for a few months the lodge is up and running and the new reception and dining area has kept its authenticity and local culture.
The place has everything, the accommodation and pool is great and the staff are so helpful and cleaned to a high standard.
While it may not have the extreme luxury of a high end Resort it more than makes up for with great meals, 5 course dinner tasting menu, local produce, daily massage and spectacular views of the archipelago.
This resort is a must and for us it is up there with our trips to beach resorts in Asia and Maldives which is high praise indeed but the owners and managers deserve all the accolade for a great set up and you will not be disappointed.
We felt part of the family leaving, every single staff member were so friendly as were the managers and owners.
Thank you for looking after us so well. Also loved the vibe in Mozambique, such a friendly and safe place. Great place to come before or after a safari.

Long overdue review. My wife and I stayed at As Dunas Lodge for our honeymoon in December 2022, and honestly, it couldn’t have been more perfect.
Everything about the place was incredible. The design of the rooms, the service, the food, the staff, the spa — it all just felt surreal. Elena and her team really made us feel special. She looked after and welcome of us from day one. Chelsea deserves a special mention as well; she checked in on us daily, helped organise boat trips and activities, and made sure everything ran smoothly. She was amazing.
The trip to Paradise Island (Santa Carolina) was a highlight, and the sundowners on the dunes are something we still talk about. Sitting there watching the sun go down, drink in hand, was one of those moments you know you’ll remember forever. To this day I miss the cocktails.
Three years later, I’m sitting here looking at booking another trip back for my wife and me. That probably says it all.
As Dunas Lodge was a very special place for us, and it always will be. Highly recommend.

Despite the original lodge being temporarily unavailable due to fire damage, our stay at AsDunas was everything we hoped for and more. Chelsie and Reaz, the lodge managers, seamlessly relocated us to an alternative beachfront area and went above and beyond to ensure our comfort.
The setting is breathtaking; Pristine beach, gentle rhythms of Mozambican life, and a sense of complete tranquility that's increasingly rare to find. The managers enriched our stay with fascinating insights into local history and culture, while the staff struck that perfect balance of being attentive yet unobtrusive.
Highlights included an arranged day trip to beautiful Paradise Island with Lynton from Island Excursions, and an unforgettable horseback ride through spectacular coastal scenery.
The genuine warmth of everyone at AsDunas, culminating in their touching farewell, left a lasting impression.
We're already planning our return to see the refurbished lodge. We couldn't have asked for a more restorative and peaceful escape. AsDunas offers that increasingly elusive combination of natural beauty, authentic hospitality, and the space to truly unwind.

Of course the fire before we arrived was terrible for the owners and staff, and we were grateful they were able to make alternative arrangements for us at such short notice, so it seems a bit ungracious to complain about it; but it clearly wasn't the same as the real lodge in terms of luxury, privacy and location. The design of the rooms made them very hot inside, and the mozzie nets did not fit the beds; and I'm sure these small annoyances wouldn't have been present at the real lodge! Of course the food and hospitality probably were the same standard and we enjoyed these things very much. Chelsie was a delightful hostess and the chef was excellent — so they were able to fit around my wife's dietary requirements with a little prompting. The red dune excursion was really nice and we enjoyed the massages too. After all this was a good outcome for us in difficult circumstances for the staff; future customers reading this and staying at the rebuilt real lodge will surely enjoy better value for money, the same excellent service, and you will get what you thought you would be getting!

We had a simply spectacular stay at the asDunas Lodge. The rooms are private and beautifully laid out with a private pool. We had a wonderful view over the Indian Ocean to watch the sunrise. Each meal was gourmet and absolutely delicious. — Boaventura, Joao, and Filipe provided incredible service and the daily massages brought relaxation. Be sure to climb the dunes to catch the sunset.

First of all, thank you to the entire staff who made our stay truly unforgettable — from the breakfast to the aperitifs (the best Bloody Mary I’ve ever had! ) and the gourmet tasting dinners. Well done!

AsDunas Limited Edition. Get there whilst you can. So on 23rd September AsDunas main area has a fire. Amazingly no one was hurt. They housed their guests but had to find a new location. Amazingly Fabio & Elena reopened In a smaller boutique location for 8 guests 10 days later ably supported by Chelsea. Same amazing team. Same amazing food (5 courses for dinner). Different smaller location closer to town. It’s AsDunas limited edition until main AsDunas reopens by end of year. Stay there whilst you can to experience their hospitality, amazing food and service. Amazing stay, amazing people. Amazing food. Amazing service. Limited time only.

Our stay at asDunas in Vilanculos was nothing short of exceptional — a perfect blend of luxury, comfort, and natural beauty.
From the very beginning, the communication with Chelsie during the booking process was smooth, clear, and incredibly helpful. She made everything easy and personalized, setting the tone for a truly special experience.
The food at asDunas is simply outstanding. The kitchen offers a delicious fusion of African and Italian flavors, prepared with creativity and care. Light lunches were fresh and satisfying, while dinners were a real highlight — beautifully presented 5-course meals that changed daily. Mornings began with a generous breakfast buffet, with eggs made to order, porridge on request, and fresh local ingredients. And throughout the day, drinks were always available, served with a smile.
The surroundings are stunning — white sand, turquoise water, and thoughtfully designed spaces that blend perfectly into the landscape. Each day included a relaxing massage, adding to the sense of calm and indulgence that defines the asDunas experience.
Every detail, from the warm hospitality to the incredible setting, made our stay unforgettable. If you're looking for a peaceful, luxurious escape with world-class service and cuisine, asDunas is the place to be.

We had a fantastic stay at AsDunas. The service was very personal and it was clear everything had been thought through to make our visit relaxing and enjoyable. The team catered extremely well for gluten-free, which ensured our whole family could make the most of the fantastic food on offer — the food takes centre stage and is a real treat! The location itself is so beautiful, from the beach a few steps away, to the unbelievably stunning islands of Bazaruto and Santa Carolina (which fully deserves its nickname: Paradise Island) and the sunsets on the Red Dune itself. A lovely highlight was when they sang to our daughter on her birthday and again to us all as we left – small touches that made a big difference from the always friendly and attentive AsDunas team.
Both the manager, Chelsie and the owner, Fabio, went out of their way to ensure everything was perfect. Their hands-on approach showed in the overall experience.
I would absolutely recommend AsDunas as the place to stay for anyone visiting Mozambique.

What a wonderful holiday we had at the fantastic As Dunas. Located on beautiful sand dunes leading down on the most wonderful, long beach where swimming in the clear, warm Indian Ocean was a joy. Quietly reading my book on the beach, I am handed a cocktail list by the lovely Alfredo. What could be better? The accommodation is just beautifully appointed with everything you need, looking over your private pool, and onto the sea. Sitting in the most comfortable, huge bed in the morning watching the sunrise was spectacular. The food is absolutely delicious, so well presented and Jaime, the head chef, explained our meals everyday. The staff just make As Dunas. Fabio, Elena, Chelsie, Reaz, Boa, Filipe, Joaq, Zaqueu, Oquido, Jaime, Alfredo, the massage ladies, general housekeeping, maintenance/garden team — thank you! You all went above and beyond to make our stay just perfect! Organising activities and the excellent massages was incredibly easy. Thank you so much for my surprise birthday dinner and cake and the wonderful singing. I have the most happiest of memories and I hope to see you again someday.

AsDunas Lodge was our final stop on our Honeymoon and what a place to end our incredible trip. This place is really special, creating an intimate culture for couples while simultaneously creating a space for people from all over the world to connect with each other and each and every staff member.
Starting with the friendly and complimentary airport pick up, we were welcomed with a refreshing cocktail and lunch, with the most incredible view across the ocean. Our lodge room was beautifully appointed, and with your own private terrace and pool, it really does feel like your own piece of paradise for however long you choose to stay for. We stayed for 7 nights and wanted to stay for much longer, this place really gets under your skin.
The food was simply stunning — each night you're treated to a 5 course tasting menu filled with Mediterranean and local flavours, incredibly clever touches by the local head chef, the most attentive service and a wonderful wine selection. The homemade pasta courses were a particular highlight for us!
The lodge managers also organised two day long boat trips for us, to visit the Islands and go snorkelling on the reefs. This was slick and the local operators really make the days worth it.
Finally, the staff — to each and every person working there, thank you so much. Your kindness, friendly and warm demeanour and desire to connect with every guest was truly special and we feel so lucky to have met them all.

We visited AsDunas in March for a special 50th celebration and had a truly wonderful time.
The staff are so welcoming, Chelsea, Jaime, Joao, Boa and all the team worked so hard everyday to show us a good time.
The resort is beautiful and maintained consistently by a huge staff, for whom nothing is too much trouble. The owners/management work closely with the local community to support job opportunities and training young people.
The suites are super comfortable and the mesh sided tent gave a real close to nature experience — walking up to the waves was genuinely magical. There was a filtered water dispenser in the room which we thought a great idea, much better than the constant stream of plastic bottles we’ve experienced elsewhere.
Everyday bought new food, prepared to the highest standard. Amazing breakfasts made to order, three course lunches and 6 course dinners. All high quality produce and the chef went to great lengths to accommodate my slightly nervous palate! Ive never experienced such consistently high quality food, displayed so beautifully.
These dinners by moonlight everyday were a true highlight.
Another option was the sunset on the dunes, the staff helpfully carry drinks and chairs up for you and it’s a spectacular view. Though I would note, the route is for the sure footed and not the faint hearted! We found it a little daunting to be honest and only went up once.

We spent the most wonderful 5 nights at this beautiful lodge. We were collected from the airport by the very competent manageress, Chelsea.
From the moment we arrived, we felt we had arrived in paradise. All the staff are so friendly, helpful and made us feel so special. The owner, Fabio’s (top chef) produced Michelin star meals daily, hence us being a few kilos heavier when we arrived back home😅
The daily spa treatments were pure bliss.
We left feeling we were saying goodby to friends.

Fantastic place to stay in a great setting, The staff are all very friendly, the food was amazing.
We stayed in a tented suite which is a great concept and way more luxurious than we thought.
We also had great relaxing massages every day,
