Ponta Membene

I've been to Ponta Membene twice with groups of friends and stayed in their dune chalets as well as one of their campsites. This has to be one of the best locations for families and friend-groups to get away and enjoy a fantastic beach in near total seclusion.
Arno and Emelio are friendly, efficient and helpful managers. And the camp staff like David are hard-working, friendly, and generous. Where else in Africa can you rent a campsite that offers daily laundry and dishwashing? You go to the beach in the morning and when you get back to your campsite your laundry is all washed and hung up to dry, all the dishes and pots and pans have been washed, and the entire campsite has been swept. Fantastic!
The showers and toilets are very well designed and cleaned daily. The electricity is far more reliable than anywhere in SA, and there is always clean, running water in the camp.
A great place for snorkeling, game drives, beach walks, or just playing card games and drinking cold beer.
Better than any camp sites anywhere in South Africa, that's for sure!

We camped at Ponta Membene for 11 days. The camp sites were beautiful and shaded, the bathroom was so well designed and clean. Everyday people will come to the the camp to help clean. We had a gentleman called David and he was wonderful! The beach was amazing. The food at restaurant was delicious and all the staff is so friendly and helpful. I will recommend Ponta Membene who wants to rest and enjoy nature!

Will definitely be back, one of the best places we've been to.
The road through the park is a tad rough, but worth every minute to get to this piece of heaven.
The food, the facilities, the beach, the staff, everything was just perfect and memorable.

Absolutely love this place. The restaurant is amazing 🤩 kudos to the chef 🧑‍🍳. The ambiance, the staff and rooms are amazing. On the way back enjoyed seeing the animals. Shuttle service is an added bonus for us who want to stay for the weekend.

Beautiful destination. 2-3 hours from Futi gate. 4x4 highly recommended. Great facilities for campers and those looking for a more luxurious stay. Rained twice in our stay in July and plenty mosquitoes so take repellent. Would definitely recommend a visit.

What a stunning place — in a game reserve: Maputo National Park, in Mozambique! We camped for 2 nights in the reserve, totally self sufficient, then arrived at the beach pleasantly surprised with the facilities for camping! The bathrooms and wash up facilities were amazing. We had a great campsite, 1 and 2, sharing with friends and were close to the stunning beach. The restaurant along the board walk offered free Wi-Fi but very expensive drinks and food… We were very happy with the former! There is a pool and Lapa with a deck overlooking the sea, (great for a little party) that you can book to use. We peeped at the lodges — they are smart with a outdoor/ modern feel and overlook the bush. Hippo, croc and elephant territory — so just be careful. Great camping, game viewing, snorkeling, 4x4ing spot!

Wonderful experience. Going through the game reserve is exactly like a game, different stages, scenarios that although rough are worthwhile once you reach the destination. One thinking about staying here should definitely think about a minimum 2-night stay to make full use of the trip. Thank me later… ;)

Went camping before christmas and were impressed by the bathroom and kitchen amenities at the campsite.
Enjoyed the walks to the restaurant and on the beach. Very quiet and secluded.
Also enjoyed the drive to Membene although it was a little daunting at times especially when a car is coming from the opposite direction.
Will definitely go there again.

An absolute hidden gem of a location and must-visit location for anyone looking for a secluded, pristine, and incredible accommodation. The rooms along the beach are incredible — an amazing kitchen to cook in if you choose and the design of the overall room ranks in the best places I've ever traveled to. I couldn't believe the services and quality of accommodation you can get for the price. Plus the drive to the lodge and the absolute secluded nature of the beach makes this one of the best places to visit in Mozambique. As an amateur wildlife photographer and beach lover who has traveled to many beach locations across the world, Ponta Membane will forever remain one of my favorite travel destinations.
I also incurred a slight issue with my form of payment, and the staff went above and beyond any expectation in terms of working through the issue, communicating promptly, and going above and beyond to ensure I was satisfied with the result.
I look forward to returning here one day soon.

Stayed here over Christmas. The staff are the standout that make the stay what it is.
We stayed in a Forest Chalet, big enough for a family of four if needed. Great combination of indoor and outdoor space.
The drive to Ponta Membene does require a 4x4 in my opinion. On our way in we did see a number of local vans/cars getting stuck and we did indeed get stuck ourselves once, even in 4x4 mode.
I would recommend this place, before it becomes too discovered :)

I had a wonderful time at Ponta Membene. Beautiful beach! Arno, one of the managers at the restaurant, was so helpful and kind. He is very well versed in the surrounding wildlife and was able to inform me with what there was to offer. Arno definitely elevated my stay here :)
