Gem Riad

I agree with most of the reviews: the Riad is pretty, service is great, breakfast is delicious and location is good and quite.
But. I also heard the staff offering “exclusive” upgrades to other guests (they still claim it was only done for us, yet most reviews say the same…), they push you to rate them a 10 everywhere… so I tend to believe other reviews saying they had issues with their reservations, such as being moved the Gem Riad 2 still under construction or having their reservations cancelled on Booking. Com so that they can’t review the property.
I reckon they tend to overbook the Riad and decide which guests to treat great and which not, so that they get awesome reviews from the first ones and silence the second ones.
There’s definitely something weird going on.
Also the night rate is too high; I’ve been to other Riads equally good for half the price.

The hosts, Abdulali and Ali are incredibly helpful and nothing is to much trouble. Outstanding customer service. Examples were arranging bus tickets, taxis, local information. Top class. The hotel room was clean daily with beautiful linen and towels. Lovely breakfast, great rooftop terrace. Good location in the heart of the Medina. We didn’t find it excessively noisy despite close proximity to main square. All in all a very pleasant stay. Thank you.

We had the most wonderful stay at the Gem Riad and we couldn’t recommend it more highly. The staff were incredibly friendly, warm and welcoming. They made you feel really at home. The room was beautiful, everything spotlessly clean with everything thought of. The Riad is very conveniently placed, a short walk from the souks and tourist attractions alike. It was a truly memorable holiday made even better by our stay in the Gem Riad.

We highly recommend Gem Riad to anybody that wants a great location, excellent staff, and delicious breakfast during their stay in Marrakech. The rooms are comfy and air conditioned and have a great style. The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. Everything was clean and well taken care of. The structure itself is about 300 years old, and I found it very interesting architecturally. It has a very nice roof top deck where you are served breakfast (croissant, Moroccan crepes, jams, bread, eggs, coffee, juice — ALL DELICIOUS). We (surprisingly) were having a hard time finding a restaurant that served couscous due to the recent holiday — and the manager offered to have his aunt make some for us. It was fantastic! All and all, when we return to Marrakech we will stay here again, and highly recommend this place to our friends and family.
