You pay for what you get. While relatively close to the interesting parts of the old town, it's a maze and a mission to get there. Once you are in the area, finding Dar Tamo is a little tricky (I had to update the hotel's pin! And Google has not yet properly mapped the old town of Fes for walking). We were given a different room than we booked, which wasn't a problem. The room was just off the terrace and was airy and bright. However the floor was dusty, the bathroom stank like a portaloo and the bedsheets smelled of sweat. Our companions had no issue with their room on the first floor, but were kept awake two nights in a row by 1) guests in the common area 2) staff in the common area. If you are on a tight budget, you could probably find worse. Failing that, considering paying a little more to stay closer to the blue gate.
