Dont stay there if you are not prepared to be kicked out right after check-out. Apparently, their policy does not allow any checked-out guests to even wait in the common area after 9.30am. Don’t stay there if you are not prepared to be spoken to/yelled at in the most rude and condescending way by the English-speaking tour guide (owner? ). Also, don’t stay there if you are not prepared for them to mess up your booking. Literally every day in the two weeks we were there, there were issues with some guests booking (like it was just not to be found in their system, there were suddenly no beds available, they suddenly want to charge twice the price, the two-people private room can only be booked for one person etc. ).
It’s important to mention though, that the horrible customer service mainly comes from the English-speaking tour guide. The ladies and girls working there are friendly, but they don’t seem to communicate well between each other, which seems to be the reason for so many messed up bookings.
Sunpath was my first impression of Mongolian hospitality and it wasn't a good one unfortunately. We (2p) arrived at 11am in the morning and were allowed to check in which was nice. The next day in the morning we extended our stay with one of the owners. During breakfast they quickly demanded payment, then another staff member told us to leave so they could clean the room. Lack of communication between staff seems to be a common issue. We were also initially denied leaving our bags in storage for one day, before some arguing back and forth, we were allowed to.
After a night away, we called up Sunpath to book beds in the dorm. We arrived late at night and the night staff did not know we had a booking. The dorms were full so we were offered the private room but were charged more than our first night. We only paid the same price as last time, even though we had technically booked the dorm. Again, this happened after we came back from a Gobi Desert tour, except this time we picked up our belongings and slept elsewhere. We attempted to stay in a dorm 3 times but ended up in the twin private room. We also found out from other guests that there was no hot water and the check out time was brought forward to 9:30am, at which point you can't stay in the common area anymore.
Management seem to not make an effort to communicate. It's a shame that we've met lots of lovely people here but the management cannot handle the business and visitors properly.

One of the hidden hostels, with no board to mark the entrance in old dilapidated buildg.
Initially climbing the staircase, with abandoned other offices but when enter the third storey small hostel, with 3 storied bunk beds and a very hospitable lady owners, your impression changes.
The charges are $ 17 per day/person (with BFast) though the Booking. Com quoted as $15 with complementary B Fast.
The hostel is located opposite School no. 5, as in Mongolia there is no system of display name boards of Dchools or even the roads (sic). Luckily the school had name board of Kamal Attaturk, the first President of Turkey.
The BFast consists of 2 toasts, a portion of green boiled veg, 2 double fixed eggs and a cup of pouch coffee.
There are 3 toilets and wash rooms, with hot water supply in the evenings.
All the work of booking, cooking and cleaning etc is done by the single owner lady,. Mrs Otto, who is found very kind, though a little strict in discipline.
Most of the people paid tariff by.
Their credit cards.
The hostel has Micro, gas, utensils and crockery, stove etc, should you decide to cook yourself.
Though there are cheaper hostels (one owned by a Delhi educated Tourist Offr at tge Airport Tlurism Office), I recommend the hostel owned by Mrs Otto because ofocation, friendliness and facilities.
