This is the place to stay when climbing Pico de Orizaba. If you are going to do anything in Tlachichuca, Mexico this is the place to stay! Excellent site and award winning stories of a humble family.

If you are climbing in the area, Servimont is the original and premier guiding and hosting service. Senior Reyes developed the Jampa Glacier route on Orizaba! I highly recommend this experienced and reputable company. I have used their services twice. Don't risk your life with any other company. Servimont can organize any or all components of your trip from airport pickup to mountain shuttle, gear rental, climbing advice, and itineraries. The climbing hostel has rich history as a soap factory. The food at the hostel is home made and fantastic! Servimont offers a great cultural and climbing experience.

The absolute BEST place to stay if looking to climb Pico de Orizaba. Servimont exceeded my expectations in every way possible, from the incredibly unique and amazing lodging, to the hospitality and service from all the staff, it was one of the best experiences possible. The director/owner, Dr. Gerardo Reyes, has a fascinating story and was so accommodating and helpful. You will not regret booking through Servimont. Highly recommend!

Excellent hostel, probably one of the most special places I’ve ever stayed at. The building is a converted soap factory from the late 1800s and has an eclectic feel to it. All over are old relics from the factory as well as mountaineering posters and equipment. Señor Reyes (owner) is an extremely kind host and takes the time to get to know his guests. The food is a delicious home cooked meal. Beds are comfortable and bathrooms and sleeping area are very tidy. If you’re hoping to climb the peak you must stay at this hostel!

Senor Reyes and the staff at SERVIMONT did an amazing job at helping our groups Summit bid. The 4x4 logistics, food accommodations, planning and guidance were all spot on and perfectly timed. We were able to do guided climatization hikes that were very beneficial. I recommend staying at SERVIMONT 100% as it was the absolute adventure of a lifetime!

Hands down the best touring company in town. If you need help to ascent El Pico de Orizaba, look no further. Instead of pushing me into buying services I didn't need, Senior Gerardo and I had a nice conversation where he asked me about my previous experience and only then suggested the best way to go. He is a third generation passionate mountaineer, and clearly puts his passion for the mountains ahead of his economical interest. The cook prepared vegetarian food for me. Not to mention that from the research I personally did, in person, walking around town, is also the most affordable. Contact someone else only if here is fully booked.

The best food, the best service, amazing treatment, excellent place for lodging. I love it!

Stayed 2 nights at Servimont before using the 4x4 truck service to the base of Pico de Orizaba. Reyes was very accommodating of our rental gear needs on short notice and provided great advice for our summit attempt on the mountain. The hostel is very clean, organized and has everything you need for both prepping and returning from your climbing on Pico de Orizaba.

I used Servimont in Nov 2019 to climb Orizaba and Iztaccihuatl.
Overall the experience at the time was good. However two things have disheartened me from recommending Servimont for any future climbers.
1. On our day off between climbs we (team of 4 climbers) went to the city of Puebla. Dr Reyes organized the transport and told us it would cost us $150 US each! This was for a round trip of about 4 hours driving. $600 for a driver and car for the day in Mexico was extortionate! Unfortunately we had no other option at such short notice and had to use the service.
2. We left $400 with Dr Reyes to cover tips for our three climbing guides. As Dr Reyes organized local guides for our climbs. They did an excellent job and the tips were well earned. In January 2021 one of our climb team members used two of these guides again, for some private climbs in Ecuador. It was at this time he was notified that Dr Reyes did not pass on our tip money to the three climbing guides. It made me very angry and disappointed to hear this. Especially since it says on our trip details that “Tips: Recommended 10-15% from total as tips. Very well appreciated by the staff. " If they don’t receive the tips, how are they supposed to appreciate them!

When booking I asked about a room for four and they said yes. Also on the biking route I explained that we didn’t like uphill that much and they confirmed that it had a variety.
The route was up hill for over two hours. It could have been more but we asked to turn around. The rest was cool.
The room was a hostel concept. That is great if you are looking for that. The food was amazing and the host Gerardo, was great giving us the history of the place.
I highly recommended if you are going hiking and need an expert at it.

Great climber’s hostel under view of Pico de Orizaba — former soap-making factory and owned by retired surgeon Dr. Reyes — excellente meals, coed bunk room, clean coed bathrooms, relaxing environment before climbing.
