Reviews of Olas Tulum
The atmosphere at Olas is dreamy, peaceful, and nurturing. I'm not sure we would have fully enjoyed Tulum if we had stayed elsewhere. Olas really is a special corner of the world. Thank you to Asia, Nano, and all of the staff for their kindness and care — you are wonderful!
Breakfasts prepared by Nano were absolutely incredible and some of the best food we ate during our trip. Being able to wake up and head to the communal table filled me with joy and really gave us the opportunity to get to know the other two guests who were there during our stay. I'll be dreaming about the juices, homemade tortillas, and delicious yogurt.
We appreciated the recommendations in the guide book in our room and took full advantage of them! DO book a bird-watching boat tour with Luis Fernando. This was the most memorable part of our trip — I will never forget floating down a lazy river through mangroves, or seeing manatees, saltwater crocodiles, and birds roosting on an island at sunset. DO go to Cetli for breakfast, lunch, or dinner (in addition to incredible Oaxacan cuisine, they also have amazing coffee and margaritas). DO go to Hartwood for dinner. One recommendation we took that we would caution other guests to avoid — the guide book mentioned eating at La Popular, which is a short walk away. We had our first dinner of the trip there, and it was very overpriced for food that was not very good ($25 for a cocktail that was mostly soda water, to give you an idea).
I recently stayed at Olas in Tulum for four days, and the experience was nothing short of incredible. From the moment we arrived, our host was unbelievably honest, kind, and always looking out for us, making sure we felt safe and well taken care of.
Each morning, breakfast was a perfect serving of smiles from the staff, accompanied by fresh fruit and yogurt—simple yet absolutely delightful. Jimmy, the owner, adds a special touch with his engaging and charismatic conversations, making us feel even more at home. Though I didn’t have the chance to meet his partner, Abby, I know she played an instrumental role in organizing our stay, ensuring everything was seamless.
We were fortunate enough to stay in an 1, 100-square-foot living space with a breathtaking deck overlooking the water. The views were stunning, and the space was impeccably clean and beautifully designed, making it the perfect retreat.
Olas in Tulum is truly a hidden gem, and I can’t recommend it enough. Thank you to Jimmy, Abby, and the wonderful staff for making our stay so special. We can’t wait to return!

I wish I could give Olas more than 5 stars! What a beautiful, secluded piece of paradise. Our stay was so much more than I expected. The grounds are very well thought out and maintained. We enjoyed the various sitting areas around the property. My favorite was the sunset deck — PLEASE utilize it! There's a sectional sofa, little bar top with stools, and the very best views to watch the sun set — very romantic. There's even Wi-Fi so we brought our speaker and listened to music. We stayed in beachfront cabin 3 and loved it. There's no A/C but we did not miss that one bit. The entire property was specifically designed to capitalize on the ocean's breeze, including the rooms. We had a kitchenette that was very well appointed and had everything we needed. We brought ingredients to make our own cocktails because there's no bar on site — this was not inconvenient for us at all, my husband enjoys making drinks for us. Falling asleep to the sound of the breeze and waves on a comfortable bed was just dreamy! There were two pillows per person. The water pressure was enough and the hot water took a few minutes to reach the shower but not a bother to us. I do recommend leaving your shoes outside your room, sand will get all over your floor and I personally don't like that. The breakfast every morning was a highlight! Nano made the best meals taking our food interests and needs into consideration. Only breakfast is served so you will need to make up for your other meals.
