If you're looking to avoid the overcrowded and fast paced resorts, this little hotel (and Puerto Morelos in general) is the perfect place to stay! It's very quaint but clean and charming. As far as beachside hotels, you couldn't ask for a better location! It does lack amenities such as a microwave, fridge, hairdryer, etc. But I still give it 5 stars because the staff are very friendly and helpful, and falling asleep to the sound of the waves right outside beats any luxurious all inclusive resort filled with hundreds of people. We had an amazing experience here! The rooms all have AC, a TV with Dish hooked up, and a terrace with a beautiful view overlooking the ocean. The ground floor rooms have terraces that open into the pool area, the 2nd floor rooms have large private terraces, and the 3rd floor rooms have smaller private terraces. The photos I took are the view from our 3rd story room. There is no elevator so keep that in mind if you have trouble with more than a couple stairs, but the stairs are a very easy climb for most people. Like I said, there is no fridge/freezer (which would be one of the only improvements I'd make, especially if you're staying longer than a few days), but if you have a small cooler with you the staff will happily give you ice from the bar area. Breakfast is free with your stay and was very good every day we had it. The lunch and dinner menus/prices are also good, but the service is pretty slow so it's not good if you're in a hurry. The Pelicanos restaurant just down the street has amazing food and decent prices, as do many of the little restaurants around town within walking distance. The pool area has chairs and umbrellas, and it was never all that crowded while we were there. They often play music in the bar/dining area. You can also go down a few steps to the beach and there are chairs, hammocks, and palapas for shade, and the sand is white and super soft! It's very relaxing to read or doze down there. We went during April which apparently is one of the driest months in that area, so we had almost no problem with bugs or mosquitoes (just when we ventured into the jungle). I can't say for sure if they come out in later months. Overall, the experience we had here was amazing, and I would LOVE to come back someday, especially once the town's construction is finished. If the Hacienda Morelos could add some more amenities to their rooms, I would book again in a heartbeat!
