Went with my husband and 15 month old baby. Lots of pros like — Great variety of options for activities, beautiful jungle-like foliage with animals, pools, and a suspension bridge, Mayan ruins on the resort grounds, a "water park" with slides for kids, a kids club (for those over 4, if under 4 parent must stay w kiddo), beautiful beach, great mojitos (make sure to ask for Bacardi), lots of food options (book early in your stay for the a la carte restaurants), really entertaining shows, 24 hour snack bar, and "sports bar" (bar with pool, ping pong, and foosball tables nearby), as well as gym and spa (adults only, so we didn't get to try it). The people who take photos of you and your family do a really good job. Cons — lots of mosquitos (low to the ground, our baby didn't get bitten but I got tons of bites… forgot to put on the repellent they provide! ) ; buffet food not great (Mexican buffet was the best! ), but a la carte better (we tried Italian and teppanyaki) ; lots of rocks in the water at the beach (but nice sand to walk on, and warm water) ; very poor Wi-Fi in the standard rooms (works great in lobby and other public areas) ; TV reception also poor; lots of rain (in mid November — obviously not the resort's fault, but be aware. A plus of going at this time was that it really was not crowded at all, and still warm, 75-85 despite the rain) ; photos for sale really expensive ($20/photo up to 5…). Overall we loved the jungle feel and the size of the property, since we got our exercise walking around! I still probably gained 5 lbs in 5 days though! Great experience, I don't think I'd want to stay at a typical resort (no jungle, no animals, no ruins) after our time here.
