Review of Hacienda Tres Rios Resort Spa & Nature Park 4*

The accommodations were superb! Food was really good! Beer was always cold and the mix drinks were almost too strong (in a good way) and the staff were all kind and helpful! We had an overall excellent time during our stay for our 20th Wedding Anniversary! Now let’s talk about the ugly shadows lurking inside of this BEAUTIFUL Mexican owned and operated Resort. Whatever you do… DO NOT… I REPEAT… DO NOT even think about purchasing a time share or one of their many vacation club memberships! 100% SCAM! Everything they told us during the presentation was littered with 1/2 truths and lies! We formally requested to cancel the vacation membership that we purchased within the stated terms of the contract and they basically told us that we’re still responsible for the payment per Mexican law even if we cancelled our membership! Seriously!?!? Why would I cancel my membership if I still had to pay for it? Looking back, it’s probably a tactic to get you to delay cancelling so that the contract sticks? I’m not 100% about this but it sure does seem plausible given all the crap that they put us through! Renee Kristofferson (one of the Membership Service Manager/Supervisors) literally told me verbatim “That’s how it’s done in Mexico! ” (Referring to Mexican law and contracts). I of course disagreed, did my research and contacted BarClays (who they use to finance memberships) and opened a fraud case with them. I luckily kept every email correspondence, screen grabs of every FaceBook message and kept records of every phone call made with supporting phone bill statements showing that I truly went above and beyond in my dealings with them. I guess that what I did was enough because we were refunded the entire balance on the new card that we opened up while in Mexico. I’m soooo glad that I didn’t pay with a check! Lessoned learned for sure! Don’t ever drink the water in Mexico and whatever you do… DO NOT… I REPEAT… DO NOT buy a time share or membership into anything they’re selling no matter what they tell you or even what the contract states! My hopes in writing this review/recommendation are that if you’re reading this and you’re trying to navigate similar waters that we found ourselves in, is that your within the terms of your contracts termination clause. I don’t know for sure if that’s what helped us since the credit card company is a US based company or not? If you paid with cash or with a check… best of luck getting your money back from these crooks!
