Review of Emporio Cancun 4*

Do not stay here. Worst experience I have ever had in another country. I booked a 4 person room with 2 double beds and when we checked in they told me the room was only booked for 1 person and I would have to pay $45 USD per person for the other 3 people. When I had already paid over $200 for the room that fits 4. They also told me it was $45 per person for the all inclusive package, which I did not have, so I told them it’s not for all inclusive just normal package and they said it’s still $45…. Then I was told I could contact Expedia and they could change it for free. When I contacted Expedia, I was told their policy is that they have to call the hotel, and the hotel told them it would be $150 USD per person. So it magically tripled in price just so I would be forced to pay the $45. The male manager was disgusting, screamed and my friends and I, and when I politely asked to see a written policy that states the charge is $45, he yelled at me that he was calling the police. I was exhausted and frustrated so I paid the extra $140. When we went to check out, we noticed they had a slide show behind the front desk and on the bottom it said the MAXIMUM charge for an extra guest is $92 MXN (which is $18 USD). I tried to take a picture of it and the woman behind the desk changed it and then told me it was “frozen” on another slide so that I couldn’t take a picture. Absolutely horrendous experience & treatment from the staff. Spend your money anywhere else, it’s not worth the hassle here.
