The boys who was working here are quite noisy. I think the guests would like to relax but they are very loud!
Would also be nice with bigger locker.

If you expect a social (especially party) atmosphere, this may not suit you because the staff help when asked but are otherwise not engaging (the owner is super friendly and informative but not on-site full-time). However, if you are a fairly independant traveler and look for a place to chill, I cannot recommend Melisa warmly enough because it is well-located, with great kitchen, good showers, a nice little pool, beautiful seating area and garden, perfectly clean, has comfortable beds, AC, and steady Wi-Fi. It felt like staying at a resort after long day trips and I really appreaciate that they let me (and many other guests) stay and use common areas well beyond check-out.

Our stay was in November. All in all was good, but the staff was literally a little stupid and not very kind.
When we washed our dishes, one plate unfortunately broke (which was of course not our intention) and we had to pay for that?!
When we asked to leave our baggages in the hostel after check-out, the receptionist wanted us to buy a day ticket. In summary very weird and disconcerting.

Beautiful place, very quiet, clean and cozy. The issues are the toilets (only 2 per all the guests), for our time there, hostel was not full, and the bathroom waiting times were very inconvenient. The rooms are also quite bad, you have double bunk beds and 3 fans per room. If you stay in the bottom, you have amazing sleep, I stayed in the middle and had no fan, so I was boiling hot. There are no curtains in the windows, no lockers in the rooms, so everyone leaves there stuff on the floor making a mess, small lockers available in reception. The plugs are also a problem if you stay in the middle or upper beds, I couldn’t charge my phone if I wanted to have it close to me. The bed was quite uncomfortable. But then my boyfriend stayed at the bottom and he had a great night. Overall I’d say the hostel is overpriced for what you’re getting, but then the whole town seems overpriced 🤨

I highly recommend it. Very nice and very clean (how nice as a backpacker to have pleasure in cooking, because the kitchen is clean, tidy and well stocked! ). Close to the center and very nice staff. The courtyard in the garden is wonderful. Only downside: there are only two bathrooms, maybe in high season there are a little few. I visited it in low season so it did not bother us at all. The same goes for the dorms, they are small, however visiting in the off-season was not a problem for us :)

Other guests snobby college students, not friendly.
Pool, too shallow and too small to swim in and lip is uncomfortable to just soak your feet.
Clickish, felt like I could be blackballed and asked to leave at any time.
Guests prejudiced against those of middle age.
Staff helpful, but reserved and not outgoing.
Back garden was creepy, especially at night.
Paid for A/C, but was only turned on at night.
Staff made no effort to organize activities, like a pub crawl.
Staff made no effort to help guests get along.
No soft Jazz or Classical at low volumes to soothe us.
No breakfast, looks like owners are cheap, eggs, tortillas, potatoes, bananas, coffee aren't expensive. If many guests leave early or opt out, they might be able to provide it for 50 cents per person.
No Male Only and Female Only dorms to help women from freaking out and scaring men, scrutinizing us and accusing us.
In one dorm, the top bunk is super high, looks dangerous if you fall down, as if you would need medical attention, there are three beds to one bunk.
This hostel sucks! Even if it didn't, I would pay $10 more to get a full hotel room. It's the third world. You don't need to share a room with 7 other people. Even if your private room doesn't have A/C, you will still control your own fan.
Maybe, some travelers will give the conditions and social environment more deliberation before booking and have a clearer idea of what they are paying for, so they can accept both the good and the bad.
