Review of La Pirogue Mauritius 4*

My wife and I stayed here on honeymoon for 2 weeks and absolutely loved it. We stayed in a Beach Pavilion, 30 seconds walk from the beach and detached from other guests. Very spacious, clean and comfortable. The restaurants served a great variety of wonderful food — the buffet in the Wolmar had a different theme every night and there were even different additions to breakfast. It was fun to watch the chefs at work, cooking to order. The Magenta put on a special honeymoon meal on the beach one evening for us, complete with bonfire, personalised printed menu and a smoothed path in the sand! The service was particularly excellent that night. They had excellent seafood dishes and cocktails. The Coconut Cafe served delicious Mauritian dishes and the service was very good in all the bars and restaurants. It was easy to book activities, such as scuba diving, sea kayaks, pedalos, glass bottomed boat trips and mini golf, and we had great fun doing them all. The location is convenient for taking trips around Mauritius and we were able to visit all parts of the country easily from here. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming, took pride in their work and had clearly been trained to a high standard. Lobin and Asif always had a smile and a friendly greeting, and somehow remembered us among hundreds of guests. The lady that cleaned our room (330 — I'm sorry, I didn't ask her name) was very helpful in reassuring my wife after she dropped her engagement ring down the sink, and organised the maintenance team to retrieve it, thank you! We're very pleased we chose La Pirogue for our very special, once in a lifetime trip. Thank you! Dan and Cath James.
