Windmill Hostel

I loved it here. Only about a 10 — 15 mins walk to the beach. Don't relay on the busses in Malta I just walked everywhere so much faster! Is very hilly around the hostel so when your walking back in the heat it's hard going up all them steps and hills. Very chill and relaxed no partying or loud noises.

At the time of booking this was the cheapest hostel in Malta in December. The location is good although coming by bus from the airport you have to walk by a highway wall, which can be quite dangerous (there are memorial plaques at the end of the wall LOL) or you have to give it additional 15-20 minutes to walk around to get there. Also, there's a very dark underground crossing once you get off the bus ;) The place is well maintained, the cleaning service comes every 3 days. There's no laundry machine for the guests but there's a kitchen with a fridge, oven, microwave and all necessary amenities. There's a big TV and fussball table too in the common area. In front of the kitchen there's orange tree with delicious oranges :) The hostel is accessible via a code on the gate and then a code on the door. There's air conditioning in the rooms and each bed has it's sizeable locker assigned. The owner is very friendly and helpful too so I recommend this place! P. S. Apparently the windmill used to pull water from a well in the past and the place used to be the Indian embassy once.

Very impressed with how clean and spacious this hostel is — there aren't too many beds in each room and the lockers are large enough to store all belongings.
The location is a little away from busier areas but close to the bus stops and 10mins from St Juliens so I think this suits more mature travelers who want a more cultural experience on Malta rather than lively partying.

I came very late after midnight, I didn't even book online but the guy at the reception Antonio was very accommodating and did everything with a big smile. Place is clean, has Wi-Fi, have no complaints.

As for a hostel, it’s quite a good option. We rented a separate double room with its own toilet and shower. The room and bathroom were spacious and equipped with air conditioning. The only thing missing was a proper table, as there was only a small coffee table. The room was located next to the kitchen, which was both convenient and not so much — when people decided to celebrate something on Saturday evening, we became involuntary participants of the party, but well, that’s a hostel :)
The hostel has its own cozy courtyard, and access to the territory is controlled by an electronic lock. You can park a car or scooter next to the yard. The hostel is located relatively close to the promenade where you can have a meal and do some shopping.
It’s a bit inconvenient if you’re getting to the hostel by bus from the airport — the bus stops on the highway, which is separated from the small streets by a wall, so you have to walk along the highway for a bit, which isn’t entirely safe. Maybe there is another way, but we did not find it. The only things missing in the room were a hairdryer and an iron. Everything else was very good.

I had a wonderful stay at Windmill Hostel. The place is very clean, tidy, and peaceful, yet only a short walk from a lively part of town. What impressed me the most were the owners, a lovely couple who are incredibly kind and helpful. They gave me detailed recommendations about nearby supermarkets and restaurants, which made my solo trip so much easier. I was truly touched by their warmth and hospitality, and I feel so happy to be among their very first guests. I highly recommend this hostel to anyone visiting Malta!
