We were on a girls trip to kelaa and stayed in this most hospitable guesthouse. We were just us 2 girls but we felt so safe and comfortable. Where to begin! The welcome at arrival was really warm. They gave us flowers and refreshing drinks. Kelaa is around 30 min from the airport island Hanimaadhoo. The guest house organised a smooth transfer for us to get to Kelaa. The guesthouse is a family style property where I think a whole family can enjoy with huge rooms and a lovely garden. The breakfast is filling and the best part is that they make to order depending on when you wake up. So we can sleep in if we wish to. As the chef was on holiday we ate out from a great restaurant recommended by Trevor the manager. They deliver to the guesthouse so there was a lot of pizza in bed for us. The absolute best part of the guesthouse was the owner Mr. Moosa. It was such a privilege to meet him and he made us feel so welcome. He personally took us to see the wetlands and mud baths and organised some local goodies for us to take home. He even called to check up on us when we were on the beach to see if we needed beach chairs. It was really sweet of him. Now the island itself is vast but easily accessible by bike or walking. Must check out Kandoofaa, the largest wetlands in Maldives and the natural mud bath as well. There is a lot of farming and banana plantations around so it interesting to check it out. The lagoon which is one of the largest in Maldives is pure turquoise blue as far as the eye can see and its deep enough for a good swim. The sand is so soft and ever so white. It is a literal untouched paradise. We even saw a dolphin in the lagoon! There is water sports and excursions available through the guesthouse as well. Sunsets are so vivid in colours as well. I can't put into words what an amazing place Kelaa is and the hospitality of the guesthouse owner and managment made our trip so much more special. I can't wait to go again.
