Very old and not well maintain. Badly needs renovation. And management not comprehensive at all. Did check out because of poor service and bad condition of the rooms. And also not refunded.

Stayed here many years back 1997 98, formerly Novotel, so far very friendly helpful staff. Looking forward to a very pleasant trip down memory lane.

Hi, The room was awesome and the view was extremely beautiful… but I will say NO to the breakfast menu as it was not as expected and the tables by the swimming pool has lots of insects I almost scream seeing it crawling on the chair and table, u seriously need pest control for that. Other then that all was well.

A little old and run-down, in my opinion. Used to be quite a trendy hotel in its heydays. Have not been inside the hotel rooms for quite a while, so cannot comment on that. However, the Chinese restaurant serve quite a nice porridge buffet (only for lunch during Sat, Sun & public holidays).

A good plave to hang up with family. The room is good. The facilities are good too. However it is quite a distance to go to beach and pool. Not much variety of food for breakfast.

The service is good, bed is comfortable, room is quiet, breakfast is great but the building is falling apart, you see obvious cracks and water marks on the ceiling and walls and bathroom tiles. I've stayed at Millennium and Copthorne in the past at different countries, the service has always been exceptional, but Copthorne Orchid looks run down and definitely needs A LOT of work. The location and view are great, but the room is old and filthy, hairs on the bed, pillow and bathrub from the previous guest, probably have not even changed the sheets, water smells rusty. But the housekeeping team was quick to respond and changed the pillow case and cleaned the bathroom as we requested. There's nothing much the staff can do, but to the management team, you need a new building before losing more loyal customers. If it wasn't for the building, I would have given it 5/5, it's a shame. I don't usually comment on the building, but this building definitely needs some SERIOUS work done.

Despite what this hotel claims to offer, there's really not much to boast. Staying here felt like staying in a 1960s hotel. The room furniture and plumbing system are quite old and there's a very distinct odor that permeates throughout the hotel suggesting that the place hasn't been renovated for the longest time. The drainage in both the bathtub and the sink were clogged and the lever to control the water temperature in the shower functioned very poorly. Maintenance staff were able to fix the drainage, but still I found this inconvenience unacceptable, especially for a Superior Room. The complimentary breakfast buffet was probably the most positive part of my stay as well as my balcony view of the ocean. The front desk staff were rather polite and I didn't feel cheated on my hotel bill. Because of that, I would actually increase my rating to a 2.5, but I would not recommend this hotel until it goes under a major overhaul and complete renovation.

Strategic location and good service. It has modern look from a distant but when we came inside, it is rather old. The facility and amenities are well preserved though. Staffs are friendly and really nice, having assisted us a lot during our stay here. Beach is not calm with strong waves and seems to be unsafe to swim. We put the room key on the sand and then somehow the wave pulled it away without our awareness. Finally the key disappeared. The day after I lost 1 piece of flip flop by the same cause, and only until then we could confirm why the key was gone. Overall, in spite of the incident, everything was nice and we did enjoy our stay.

I am very disappointed with this hotel. I have already feeling to move out on the first day I checked in to this hotel. The hotel room is dirty especially the carpet. It is full of dust and every time I must clean me and my son's feet before we go up onto the bed. I wondering if the housekeeping staff doing vacuum work after a guest stay or every time every day when it comes to housekeeping work. The mattress are so old land can send for recycle, and the bedsheets seems like no changing after every stay of previous guest. The bathroom is dirty and I don't feel like stay any longer in the bathroom after shower. We did ordered a room service and the foods was really sucks! It is 10x more worst than the hawker's western food at the roadside! I will never come back to this hotel again.

The Copthorne Orchid is in places in need of some renovation and updating, but I am happy to give a 5 star rating because: They have The Best hotel staff/team I have ever come across. They are All extremely professional, hard working and always pleasant. Nothing is too much trouble and if you do have a problem, no argument, it just gets rectified — immediately. I have no hesitation in recommending The Copthorne Orchid.

Thanks Copthorne Penang for the good personal touch for me and my husband as they provide us sweet surprise at the room and place us at the good sea view, non-smoking floor, room near at the lift as I am pregnant women… I will repeat to stay here if I have a vacay at Penang next time ya!

Seriously, this is my first visit and might be the last though. I wont come back to this so called 4 stars hotel. The bedsheet is not being folded tidy and found dirts like hair fall and stains on the bed. It seems like the bedsheet did not change after previous customers used. It is really gross and disgusting. It is an alert to Copthrone Orchid Hotel! However, I would like to give a like to Devi who is on night duty as she made sincere apology to me and acknowledged my concerns. Hopefully higher management of this hotel will take further action to ensure cleanliness.

Amazing hotel with a beautiful view of the beach on the balcony. The twin sharing room had a good amount of space. The bathroom was also big enough to accommodate a good sized bathtub. The towels were adequate and the house cleaning did a good job. It was a pleasure to stay in the hotel. The breakfast was no less.

Reasonable price for room rate. Cleanliness is veey good. The room space is so spacious. Overall is ok. You will not regret.

One of the nicest hotels in the area. The lifts are old but the hotel rooms are pretty nice.

ساختمان این هتل قدیمی هست،سطح افرادی که در این هتل اقامت میگیرن متوسط روبه پایین هست. همیشه در جلوی آسانسور لابی بوی غذا رو حس میکنید و آزار دهنده هست. برای اقامت با قیمت پایین خوبه اما اگر هتل دیگری در نظر دارین در مورد اون تحقیق کنید. به نظر من هتل فلامینگو در همین رنج قیمت باشه و بهتر از این هست. من اینو فقط و فقط برای روبه دریا بودنش انتخاب کردم اما از وضعیت داخلیش اطلاعی نداشتم. که البته هتل فلامینگو با رنج قیمت بالاتری،اتاق رو به دریا رو اجاره میده. در قسمت لابی هم صندوق امانات داره که خیلی خوبه. خود هتل طول ساحل کوچکتری داره. که برای رفتن به ساحل اصلی باید از داخل خیابان حدود ۱۵ الی ۲۰ دقیقه پیاده روی کنید. با گوگل مپ این مورد کاملا مشخص میشه. برخورد کارکنان بسیار عالی. حتی به درخواست من یک اتاق با دید بهتری بهم دادن بدون پرداخت هزینه اضافه. اتاق دومی که بهم دادن از اتاق اولی بهتر هست. هم از لحاظ دید و هم تمیزی. از من برای هر شب ۱۰ رینگت هم برای مالیات گرفتن که از آخر هم نفمیدم واقعا باید پرداخت کرد یا نه. حتی هتل کوالالامپور هم این مبلغ رو گرفت. من فکر میکنم آژانس ها برای سود بیشتر اتاق رو بدون پرداخت مالیات رزرو میکنن که پذیرش هتل وقتی بخواد کلید اتاق رو بدهد این مبلغ رو ازتون دریافت میکنه. چون توسط آژانس پرداخت نشده

Hotel is a bit old but still decent. Staff were nice and friendly. Located close to the beach.

Unreservedly Recommended ……… We will definitely be back……… without hesitation Having stayed here on many occasions before we were glad we returned in February 2018 … and we will definitely be returning again. Why……… Most importantly by the smiles on the other guests faces we agreed that the staff and management were always attentive, courteous, friendly, and ready to help and that they love looking after their guests and they also enjoy working there…. For the Best Location in Penang and its great seaside position we enjoyed its own secluded, peaceful, clean and safe beach. Located in a quieter central area between busy Ferringhi and the thriving shopping malls, restaurants and night markets all were easily accessed with the free shuttle bus. There is also a thriving community of local shops close by…. For the rooms that are spacious, clean and are constantly being upgraded, are maintained to a high standard and all have great ocean views with balconies…. For the hotels excellent variety and choices of restaurants and food including a changing buffet selection for breakfast and diner…. For the supervised and well maintained pool which is very child safe and clean…. For the free Wi-Fi (fast) which is a blessing if you need to be connected…. For the fact you are near a hub of water sports i. E. Paragliding, yachting and child activities etc. Or just a peaceful walk… For the gym……. If you need it….

Old, poorly maintained. Has clearly seen better days. Hoards of mainland chinese tourists invade every weekend. Don't stay here.

Nice stay comfortable and affordable room. But Staff at the Coffee House not friendly at all. Dealing with the staff is tiring.

Place is a bit old but well maintained and not too crowded. Staff is courteous. Only complaint is there are no elevators from the indoor car park to the lobby. Quite a bit of walk uphill to get to the receptionist area even with wheelchair access.

For casual holidays in Penang Super value for money great location own private beach always come back here, as there is also a family atmosphere the bathrooms should be renovated breakfast buffet very good but for local conditions Also quite expensive.

— Poor location, quite far from tourist attractions — swimming pool is dirty and rarely cleaned -Dated hotel, broken tiles, dated fixtures — dirty rooms, dusty, found several dead cockroaches, not frequently cleaned — bathroom has mold — the carpets are rarely cleaned and smell very musty. Triggered a lot of allergies — the staff are THE WORST. Very rude. We tried to ask them to clean our rooms when we found dead cockroaches but they refused and talked to us insultingly I would not recommend this hotel at all. It is a waste of money. You are better spending your money elsewhere.

It is a 4 star that looks like a 3, but depending on the area you are staying and according to the rooms you have. We took 3 nights in a suite, had bathtub, hot water, balcony, fridge, TV, WI-Fi connection. The room is made to you every day if you want and also you get the water, coffee and milk. The pool is large although there are not many hammocks but it is almost never crowded. The beach is at the foot of the hotel just go down an elevator and you have it, is private for the hotel and closes at 20h, the pool at 7pm. There is a buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner a la carte and a cafeteria 24h but with only 6 products from your menu. They don't serve combined at any time of the day, they don't have! But they have super face beer and super expensive wine. It is better to cross and buy in the small supermarkets nearby.

At the moment is being good, cleanliness is not bad at all. The rooms are large and cozy, including a fridge and kettle. Coffee, tea and milk for the snack and two small bottles of water (I think that water should be refilled free without having to buy it, just like him and him coffee. The staff is very attentive and smiling. The downside that there is not a big old night party, the food and dinner is a little expensive. The pool is very nice and has an exit to a small private beach.

Overly priced for 70s hotel. Poor service, not up to date, old showers, pool too cold, no towels, horrible breakfast. Not good! Any stars would be for the reception staff only!

Nothing special abt the breakfast. Better eat out. Deluxe Room is quite big. Small swimming pool. Nice beach but quite inconvenient to take a swim at the beach coz need to go down to level 7. Pass through restaurant n take a lift 6 flr down to beach.

One of old established hotel with dated interiors & fittings. Clean & spacious room with balcony. Ample parking with walk way down to private beach.

Affordable accommodation in penang, and its located in a strategic area — — you can find some of the excellent food in street nearby, and it takes around 5-10 mins to the night market. The room is kinda small but its very neat and clean and good services from staff.

Poor room conditions. Strong carpet smell. Booking 2 month in advance for a king side bed room, but provide 2 single bed room without any reason.

Registration process ridiculously slow and involved. Staff friendly and attentive. Rooms very tired with poor maintenance and housekeeping.

Good restaurants nearby. Staff friendly. Slow check in. Rooms old and entire hotel (except reception) is dirty. No evidence of carpets being vacuumed in some time. Understand from locals it us soon to be demolished and replaced by private apartments.

This place is BEAUTIFUL! With the beach outside. Choose room which face to beach and if you're lucky you'll get to watch sunrise. And gosh it was soo beautiful!. The room is also da BOMB!

It was a nice family vacation for us, my husband phoned the hotel to request for a room with beach view, and they gave exactly as requested. The hotel personnel were friendly, the phone operator/receptionist are quick to respond in our additional requests. There was no slippers when we arrived, but they were prompt to give us upon request, there might be some flaws in the hotel, but our overall experience is so good, because the personnel being the face of the company are so courteous, and that's what matters when a customer has some dissatisfactions​, it is on how the personnel respond that will make or break the customer's mood. We have read some of the negative comments here even before we checked-in but I'm sure the hotel management is sincere to improve their service.

Great location, on hillside and by the beach. Room is tidy and everything is in perfect working order. Many restaurants nearby, in walking distance. Swimming pool, grocery/souvenirs store, arcade games, gym (very small), restaurant, ballroom, meeting rooms in hotel.

Hotel is old but the rooms are big and theres a balcony. You can see the sunrise of you get a room that faces the sea. Breakfast is good! Lots of choices, we couldn't get to try them all. Staff is nice and very helpful.

First thing I said when we got here — ARE YOU FREAKING SERIOUS MATE? The pictures on the website looked so different from what we had in the room. And then I took off my shoes, and then jumped into the bed. The bed was so tough, like a well done steak. It hurts so much when you wanted a medium rare for your steak. But you got an overcooked meat instead. But look at the bright side, it gives support to your spine and help you in keeping your back straight while lying down. I am grateful I didn't break any bone that night. The breakfast was good tho! Fresh fruits and yogurt what I liked the most! In general, what I like about this hotel is, even though its not up to my expectation (because its was pricey for me), is that this Hotel is equipped with friendly and hardworking staffs. I called the house keeper for a bottle of bath gel, and he brought me three! Which is cool, coz now I have some souvenirs :)

Construction not very recent, hotel restaurant catastrophic.

This hotel is OK. Yes it's dated but my experience here has always been pleasant. Great see views. The foods ok and there's a lovely private beach. Its got a certain character. There's also a great Indian resteraunt just over the road. And only a five min drive to Batu ferringhi.

Old, dirty and smelly rooms. Wifi goes on and off, as good as none. Friendly reception staff. Bed is really hard.

Good facility with stupid pools attendant. Dont bring your kids here. Spoiled!

The room was okey. The service is not too bad. As for the food… I've taste better food. (you are in penang. Heaven of food. Lots of places to visits. ) overall not too bad.

We came for a Peranakan buffet dinner and it was utter disappointment. Food was terrible, service was not found and selections were measly. We couldn't even receive help from the hotel for a taxi back town. Definitely a no no for this place.

Old ish hotel with slight damp smell in rooms (we stayed at two different rooms) and somewhat noisy aircon. The hotel is ageing quite rapidly and it's time the parent company put in the capex to refurbish it. Otherwise location is OK and beach is nice. Getting around can be a bother unless you drive or take taxis everywhere.

We had a good stay here. Room was good bed was good and in general clean. Not new like all the hotels surrounding it but great for what we wanted. Food is good and staff is very friendly (except for the parking guys). Pool was great and we enjoyed it a lot. Beach is quiet and easy to enjoy.

So terrible too much. When I visit before, I called them about ask for extra check-in… They were angry to me and shouting to me. I don't understand malay language. But they used their language. And then cutting the call. I.

The worst hotel can be found at Tg. Bungah Penang. I stayed one night during Chinese New Year 2015 and paid RM440 for a miserable standard room due to unable to get other hotels which I preferred. There was no complimentary breakfast and to make things worst upon checking in they told me that my earlier booking for king sized bed room not available and only a twin bed is available. The moment I showed a frowned face to the reservation staff then out of a sudden the room with King sized bed appeared from no where. The elevator greeted us with a stale smell and the room which I got was something which I feel was not upgraded since the day the hotel was build decades ago, with outdated facilities which are only fit for museum. This made me to think that the hotels management staffs may have never stayed in any other 3-5 star hotels before in their life thinking the way the hotel is managed and in such condition. Anyhow this will be a good experience on how a filthy hotel can ruined your holiday and to plan a head in future to have a better hotels and a good holiday.

Horrible room. I think we had bed bugs. I was itchy for 5 days. Wifi was crap. Staff are quite nice. I don't think they have millenium hotel standard Best thing. Easy to park! I would not recommend and stay there again. Definitely not 3 stars.
